[RL]:Occupy Wallstreet
Mike Ontry
The people protesting the way big business is hurting our economy, our democracy and ultimately us with their greed and lack of human compassion.
I just want to let people know about this as it's hardly getting any media attention. You can look at the top stories in the USA on google and it won't be there. The fact that it's not there concerns me. Isn't the media always looking for the next big story? Nobody is touching this! The only way most will hear about this is if someone else tells them. The demonstrators have been living on Wall Street since September 17 with no signs of letting up. I've read that this has been the longest protest to have occurred there in years and that was on day 11. There are even more protests popping up and being organized all over the country and overseas.
The Bad...
Of course there are NYPD at Wall Street who cannot control themselves. And there are a lot of people with video cameras(which the police DO NOT like). So naturally there are several police brutality videos out. If you would like to view the videos i've done a YouTube search for you.
I support what they are protesting I just hope it doesn't get out of hand. After watching many protests worldwide turn into large, violent riots I do not see this going well. As far as I know the civilians have been non-violent and stayed within the law. It's the police force that is causing problems. They are causing the problems that will get the people angry and retaliate.
Thanks to the protesters that are sticking up for the 99% of Americans that are suffering at the hands of the 1% who control big business.

Here's hoping this whole thing doesn't get out of hand.
It's all over the world...
all over
So far it is peaceful. It will remain that way until the criminal bankers, hedge fund managers and the rest of the Wall Street gangsters,
bring in their goons. It always ends up that way.
Quite a few Labor Unions are throwing their support to the protesters, which is great. This is starting to spread, slowly but none the less spreading.
So the fools really went through with it. 😃 all my respect to all who support the cause 😃.
Hacker groups like Anonymous have already jumped onto the police brutality and revealed information on police officers that have committed acts against the public protesting.
"Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." ~JFK (Sorry for the double post, I couldn't find the quote when I posted the first one.)
One hour ago a Reuters article about occupy Wall Street made top story on US Google News.

^ coincidence that mike ontry said it first here, i think not
Anthony Bologna has been identified as the police commander who pepper sprayed the female demonstrators, apparently without provocation.
By no means am I a bleeding heart, but this needs to be investigated. If the evidence is there, he needs to be charged and stand trial. Just as I would if I pepper sprayed people for no legal reason.
Hey everybody watch this:

big business? what about the government?
one solution for USA
pure socialism
Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna AKA "Tony Baloney" pepper sprayed five female protesters who were already pinned in and surrounded by other officers...WTF New York?
"big business? what about the government?"
That's it really. You shouldn't protest against the Wall Street guys, but against you government who have failed to adequately regulate big business and give them huge bailouts when they f'ed everything up.
Well a lot of this protest is pointed to the government as well. They are protesting everything that the 1% controlling everything has done to harm the economy, the democracy, and the world. Most if not all political figures invest in big business and some of those political figures are even more involved than just investors. Some of our political figures only got their positions because they were a part of big business first. So really in a sense Big Business=Government. It sucks. This protest is really too little too late. The big govbusiness has the power to ignore, and have had it for a very long time.
Bunch of retarded communists, mostly, that don't really understand economic problems.
I don't care anyway, really, it's stupid to get into political debates on eRepublik, the USA as a whole, really. The progressives will win, though, government always gets bigger. They enjoy accommodating them, so, enjoy your socialist/fascist hell hole I guess.
Shouldn't these dolts be working? Protesting doesn't earn money. Hypocrites. Greedy for the Greed of others.
Get a job. Get a life. Push forward.

"Shouldn't these dolts be working? Protesting doesn't earn money."
Well, at times it does ... However, this whole protest is totally misplaced. Wall Street guys are responsible to their investors, not the public. Protesters should go to Washington and shout: why did you allow trading in MBS and CDOs? Didn't you know that was scam? Why do you splash taxpayers' cash on bailing them out now? Wall Street can simply tell protesters to GTFO - and they would actually be right.
I live in NYC. The protests are starting to get our of hand I pass by them everyday. I certainly agree with everything about the motives of the protesters.
But the NYPD is the the reason its getting out of hand. I understand why they are doing what they are doing. My uncle is a NYPD officer and he tells me they have to go to those standards to keep the peace.
What they are not understanding is sooner or later the protesters will get fed up and start fighting back. Now thats the last thing they want in the middle of NYC. If a riot erupts I guarantee you there would be people who were never part of the protest in the first place joining and it will get bad. Probably worse then the riot in Vancouver this year.
There is no need to miss treat the citizens the was the NYPD is handling the problem. I understand they are getting angry they have a right to be angry. They are being recorded non stop, along with having to deal with a bunch of loud and annoying protesters too.
In the end the protesters are gonna have to figure out nothing is gonna happen to just go and work your daily jobs. And I do feel bad for those who quit their daily job so they can protest everyday. And people have gone to that. I do have friends down there.
I like to keep RL and erep separate but you have to ask yourself why the people running the mega banks that caused the financial meltdown by engaging in fraud have never seen the inside of a courthouse. Money corrupts but sunshine is the best disinfectant. I hope the Wall st occupation lets the sun in!
i agree with NXNW, i reported this artlce twice already. If you want folks to see this, then go to the eus forums and complain about it. lets move on now folks, nothing to see
Sorry to offend you Josh. But there are somethings that people should know about that is not getting a voice. We the people must do what we can to spread important information because all mainstream media is doing is spreading distractions. I felt the need to put this message in front of a lot of eyes and putting it here is pretty much all I could do about that.
I'm with mike on this josh. If our media won't cover it, then I think by all means we should get the word out any way possible.
Just in case this is deleted for some reason(they've done it to me before):

I've heard about the protests but I didn't know the specifics. The only thing keeping me from jumping on a plane and getting involved is the fact that the nearest airport is miles away and I don't have any means of transportation to get there...
Isn't there anything I could do to support the protestors? It's what my friend Karma would have done...

MSNBC is biased, where's fox news coverage on this?
@MeMeanie Rupert Murdoch's station is no better than MSNBC. He was under fire once, I was sort of following the case. He even almost got pied by someone once, the video is on YouTube still, probably. It's times like these that the most accurate information about the US can mostly be found outside the US, or alternatively from a not-for-profit news program like Democracy Now, or something like that. Remember, the more corporate sponsors a station has, the more likely the information is to be mutilated horribly. News stations won't bite the hands that feed them. Sad but true.
