Reasons Not To Vote in eUS Elections
eShades
If you don't vote:
1. You gain the right to not have a say in how we govern ourselves. 'Cuz @#$% expressing yourself.
2. You're likely to never have to get the free gold from congress medals (or, god forbid, country president medals). 'Cuz @#$% free gold.
3. You don't need to worry about ever becoming someone in this game. We all know our places. Some of us are just simple-minded clickers. 'Cuz @#$% thinking.
4. You don't need to worry about our bonuses. Or any foreign policy, including the fact that we were in that war with eCanada that you hated. Leave that to those politicians. 'Cuz @#$% involvement.
5. You will never have to debate with and disgrace those people in Congress. I mean, you could if you wanted. But no need to crush them.
6. You can't taunt political enemies. Or anyone, really. But why would you? That's demeaning. We don't find joy in that stuff on the Internetz.
7. When you get that message ending in "MrCarey, Party President," you could just reply, "I didn't vote for you and I'm a Titan with 70k strength." Because you find pride in being the same as everyone else.
8. You won't be subjugated into seeing the Country Administration area and have those big,
On September 5th, 2014, we had elections to elect someone to represent the eUSA. The eUS tallied a combined total of 758 votes.
On August 5th, '14, the eUS tallied 792 votes.
On July 5th, the eUS tallied 892 votes.
In June, 1,113 votes. That's the beginning of summer, when activity starts to die down.
Between June 2014 and September 2014, there was a 38% drop in votes. We've just about reached the end of summer. On October 5th, 2013, we had 1,288 votes. Let's do it.
This is not an article about how the eUS is dying. We're not. The people here are awesome. The resources here are awesome. (Incidentally, check out biaxident's article on the easily-obtainable free stuff from our Top 5 Parties.) However, maybe you're an older player who has never had the opportunity to get into the political module. Perhaps you're a newer player who has not explored that side of eRepublik. Maybe you used to think it was impossible to achieve a seat in Congress. Your eLife will change if you get into it. Start slowly. Vote for CP on the 5th after reading a few of the candidates' articles (if you have time). If your party chooses whom it will support based on a primary (basically, party members vote to pick who ends up on the ballot), maybe figure out how that works.
The people in politics are the best to have played this game. They will definitely help you out because they know everything. Evry is basically there for you to annoy with economic questions, having served in various committees over the years (not just economic, btw). Rainy sunday, Cromstar, Oblige,
There's a lot of fun aspects of the game you might be missing out on because of apathy. If you're spending your time (and even money, in some cases?) on this game, at least take all you can out of it. On October 5th, vote for your next eUS President. On October 15th, cast a vote to choose your party's President, who could lead you and your party to greatness. On October 25th, vote for Congress, the next big stepping stone for your political career. First, however, you have to join a political party that suits you, be it Charge per Seconds or...that's the only joke I got, sorry.
The Black Sheep Party has always been a party strictly supporting every player rather than a certain few. If you're interested, join us and get active!

Thanks 🙂
Good article yo
It's all a ruse. I just wanted to let Evry and Crom* know how much I wuv them.

You'll be the owl and I'll be the sheep. It's a hate story.
Cute. However, decreasing voting numbers is more likely due to a declining population than declining interest.
I read that as very cute. :>
I understand that losing almost 40% of voters since June is...unlikely to be because of people deciding to ngaf all of a sudden. It's def. b/c of dec. pop., but the article isn't an analysis on voting trends or anything like that, though. More of a motivational article. Ty 4 input.
Also, you appear to be the only person from AMP to comment. Plz acknowledge physics joke. 🙁
x2
Oh snap, you're x2ing WO? :')
nicely written. Good job bro! baaaaaaa
Never as good as yours! 😃DD
Baaa o7 voted!
eShades you're a damn good writer.
Thankssss! That means a lot.

Hear, hear!

When many Americans in RL vote for Candidate X instead of Y they are doing so not because they like X but because they don't like Y
So you want more votes then bring back the "vote against" like PTOs and RGR 🙂
That's a good point and very accurate. When we need the ATO, vote counts go crazy. But I'd rather see internal political efficacy become kind of a thing in eRep, rather than depend on RGR to help us get out the vote haha.
Multies, multies everywhere
Odd, the people you mention in the article are friends of mine for a long time. Well, everyone except Evry. I think he's still sore about the "Evry's a girl." thing. 😛
BTW, you are correct but missed one point. The rest of the game sucks, might as well join the active people and do politics.
Those people are famous! It's good to know them. /namedrop They do it best, after all.
I'm only around for the peeps in my MU/party (incl. longer-term goals); I've gotten bored of this game outside of that anyway. When I get invested in congress, I get re-energized. So yea, I feel you. :d
They do a good job.
When I left it was to get away from the idiots. Unfortunately I also moved away from my friends. (I could tell you stories but don't want to bore everyone.) 😒igh:
You are good people too. We've not talked much but I know you by reputation. You would do well to get involved in the bigger picture. 🙂
Not voted for lack of Artela 😛
Paris Hilton kinda killed the mood 😐
Lol, sorryyy. I'm at school and didn't want to edit her face off (literally... ;x) when I found the perfect pic. Ignore the bod, read the shirt. ;P
Baaaa!
Good article - thx!
Baaaaaaaaaa
Nah, man. Thank you! It's awesome having you here with us.
Good Article, but the voices tell me it's okay to embrace my apathy.
Besides, you're missing the Play-doh slant that is kinda killing this game. Baaaaaaaa.
*Wanders off to take more meds.*
The voices lie! And as long as you guys play this game, I'm stuck with you. 😉 Idc about Plato's changes. The developers can do whatever they want; they're not why I'm still playing.
Great Article!!

It took me two years to get into congress. I blame the meta-game.
The meta-game isn't causing your party to not be able to have congress seats on its own. The 5-party system is an in game mechanic, not meta.
You realize that I'm a 7 time party president? I'm aware of the mechanics.
While you get the mechanics you still blame the metagame for not getting into congress. Those two thoughts just won't mesh well. As only the top five get congress seats you have to accept responsibility for not getting into congress due to your choice to play in a sixth party. While the top five do run some sixth party members from time to time they do not have any obligation to do so. Their only obligation regarding congress is to get their own members in, nothing more. No one who chooses to play in a sixth party has any right whatsoever to complain about not getting into congress. If congress is that important, then follow game mechanics and join a top five. As someone who has been a sixth party member pretty much my entire time here I get this as should all who choose to go the sixth party route and forsake a chance at a congress seat.
You are saying what he said. Let me explain why that is not relevant.
The same "meta-game" organizations that saved eUS fro a PTO, consequently, kept me from congress. I'm protecting the names of my informants, but I was told why I lost my nomination.
I understand how to get a nomination. I, recently, spent hours working on nominations for my party members.
It took me two months to get into congress. Your argument is invalid.
I wander; with how many people am I, really, debating this?

@#$% Yeah!

Nice article! I wont be voting in eUS elections ever again! You guys suck at politics! Try be a little less friendly to one another and a little more back stabby and maybe people would care.
Dennis plz. Will a re-blacklist do it?
Do I need to wake up my minions in the eUS and rig the next election? My multis is stronk!
I might be a raccoon and not a sheep, but this is a good article regardless of species.
v
good article.
Voting costs EXP. It may not be worth it for low Div players.
Valid point. But often, new citizens are level 20 by their second day (seriously, I've seen many). I think an extra 3xp per month won't do as much damage. Also, it's boring to train strength all day. I'd rather low div players become active in politics instead of pressing fight out of boredom or even worse, quitting. If you get a congress seat (or if you write an article about politics b/c you care), you're tied down in the game a bit more than if you got 250 strength, ya know?
Each vote is actually 5 XP, so it's 15 per month, and personally, as someone who is in D1 strength training, I usually don't vote in in-game PP and CP elections if they're not competitive and there's no PTO concern, but I do back my party on the congressional slate.
Either way though, I don't think that takes much from the point of your article, which is that political participation is an important part of the game, and that we're better as a community and a country with more people involved.
Oh, it's 5 XP? Woops. Regardless, I'm glad you get it!
I didn't even know there was a cost to vote, and I mean... it's 5xp... who cares?
