Civilization: Our Status in the World
Civil Anarchy
So, I’ve already elaborated a little bit on the goals of my foreign policy system. I’m going to deal with a few current event issues, and then introduce a bit of my State Team. The first bit, in declaring peace with Canada, deserves a little bit of a touch up regarding some recent events. As you should know, the eUnited States canceled it’s NE of Canada three days ago. Game Mechanics wise, we cannot end a war until both countries have taken away their NE. Canada has yet to do so, and we’ve received multiple, conflicting, reasons for this. The first thing we were told was that Rylde was MIA, due to some RL circumstances that prevented him from playing the game. The problem with this point was two-fold. Firstly, that Rylde had already proposed a trading embargo against the United States after our NE was taken away, giving him ample opportunity to also propose a no NE measure for Canada. Secondly, an Ne proposal can be made by any Congressmen, as one of our own rogue RLC’ers proved earlier today. Thus, we can safely assume there was some sort of ulterior motive as to why the NE wasn’t closed. Some native Canadians have been asserting that the NE wouldn’t be removed due to the fact that the United States still occupies Canadian regions, limited to Alberta at the moment, and said that they were worried whether or not the eUS would give the regions back. I can’t really say I blame them for that, even though we haven’t be directing any forces to Canadian Battles since the declaration of peace.
This situation shows a simple fact about Canada. They don’t trust the United States. It’s as plain as day, and they’re, frankly, justified in being under that assumption. I don’t think anyone can expect all of this to blow over immediately. As the age old saying goes, trust takes a lot of time to build, and can be lost in an instant. The idea of a Canadian-American Alliance is possibility, but not after a period of healing. Jumping right from war to ally status would be an artificial step at best, and would end up being exactly the thing that we’ve grown to dislike, alliances without friendships. The best course for the eUnited States is to direct it’s energy towards recuperating alliances lost in the MPP break, and building relationships with friendly countries, such as Russia, Brazil, Japan, et al.
Secondly, I’d like to give a word towards the Russia-Ukraine conflict. A few days ago, Ukraine was soliciting support in the eUnited States for help against Russia, as well as a number of other allies and Eden countries. The UKR-RUS conflict was similar to ours in Canada, wherein, Ukraine needed to shred it’s MPP stack in order to begin attacking Russia. Personally, I don’t know what the hell Ukraine was thinking when they started this war, because they’re losing quite badly. However, considering the fact that Russia is now on the counter-offensive into Ukrainian territory, and Ukraine is resigning some of their conflicting MPPs, the war could get closer in the coming days. That makes it significantly more important to stand by Russia, our steadfast allies. Russia truly is a story of the impossible when it comes to foreign policy. A country that, for years, was our trademark enemy. Who invaded us, and received invasions as well. And yet, through the PANAM/TERRA Era, all of that was put aside in the favor of mutual interest, and we became great allies over the course of that Era. While we aren’t as close as we’ve been in the past, Russia is still a country worthy of our respect, and our support. Also, I really love being able to say, “For Mother Russia,” whenever I fight. My friends are probably getting pissed off at the amount of ☭’s in my shouts recently, but they can learn to deal with it, considering I only get to fight for Russia every once in awhile.
So, without further filler and build up, I’d like to present the individuals I’ve picked to help run the State Department for the month. Considering the depth of our foreign policy, the need to deal with each country individually, and the plans I intend to work with moving forward, I have a large State Department. As presidents before me have done, I chose to utilize the dual Secretary of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs system, which virtually doubles our capacity to deal with foreign affairs issues, and meet with representatives of other countries.
Minister of Foreign Affairs - Vanek26
Vanek26 is a guy that you can count on to be entirely honest on every issue, and is never afraid to call a plan idiotic, regardless of who’s proposing it. His history of service to the eUnited States shows an inherent dedication to seeing our country prosper, a goal to which he has dedicated countless hours over the course of the last year. Although he dropped out of the executive a few months ago, he has continued in his capacity as a foreign affairs advisor to the benefit of the entirety of the cabinet. As a former TERRA SG and 10x Chairman of the National Security Council, Vanek’s talent lies in his experience, and his connections. He is arguably the most knowledgeable American on foreign affairs that we have, and it’s truly an honor to have him working in the cabinet. Vanek will be integral in setting the direction of our country in the future, as well as rebuilding a few bridges on the international scene. I don’t think there is any other individual that could handle a crisis with more tact, be more productive in a diplomatic hearing, or perform their duty with more devotion than Vanek. V for Vanek, V for Victory.
Another 2-3 vMoFAs will be joining Vanek’s team, but until they’re confirmed, I will not announce their names or bios. They will be included in the full cabinet list.
Secretary of State - Fhaemita Malodorous
Think back to how confusing the entire Canadian debacle felt to you. Remember all of the issues that were floating about, from alliances, to new MPPs, to lost MPPs, and all of the random stuff that was related to those issues. I suppose at one point during all of this, you must’ve thought to yourself, “Gee, I’’m glad I’m not the guy who’s stuck cleaning all of this up.” Imagine if you were told, at roughly 1 AM, that you were indeed the man responsible for fixing it. Meet Fhaemita, arguably one of the hardest working people in America. Fhaemita has a standard of excellence in whatever job he performs that never ceases to amaze me. Even in the most menial of tasks, with little to no recognition, Fhaemita tires away to do the right thing, because he has a personal creed. He’s a living example of a perfectionist, someone who refuses to cut corners, who refuses to settle for anything but the best, and will always get the job done, regardless of the circumstances. He was put in one of the most difficult positions I have ever seen this month, and he pushed through it with tact and dedication. He’s a man with the ability to handle everything the State department could throw at him, and truly, the best individual for the job.
Joining Fhaemita will be Paul Proteus, Dennis McVicker, and BigCDizzle, and Deputy Secretaries of State. Each of these individuals have different skill sets, and different motivations for the position. Paul is a former Secretary of State who recently came back to the eUnited States, and would be a great asset to bring back into the swing of things. Dennis has been serving the country as Secretary of Education, but wished to branch out into other areas. BigCDizzle is a relative newcomer to the executive scene, who will gain valuable experience working alongside some of the top foreign minds in the country.

"I see a world where we, solely, are the masters of our fate. Do you?"
Sounds like a Serbian foreign policy slogan. No room for friend there.
Can you explain the specific differences between the MoFA duties and the SoS duties? Just curious...
@rubno: It's simply not as myopic as that. Doing things such as defending Russia against Ukraine fully fall into a plan like that. The idea is primarily dealing with a constraining alliance, as opposed to alliances based upon mutual cooperation, and friendship.
@Gnilraps: SoS = Domesic side. MPPs, Ambassador Program, Congress. MoFA = Foreign side. Meetings, Alliances (Eden, ONE, Terra scale), Treaties. Having this system allows one person to have exclusive attention to one side.
I heart Civ, also wise words on Canadia, any rushed solution will just sweep underlying resentment under the carpet in order for it to boil over at a later date, tis the way of the world.
Gnilraps: It's also to reduce confusion by Eurofags who are expecting a MoFA title and don't grok what the SoS is. Kinda similar to USfags confusion in RL when Brits refer to the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
^ x1
I always thought an Exchequer was a Brit who used to work in a grocery store. 😛
Civil, I have been reading your articles with interest and like your ideas, I can not support this ticket; every one of your choices has had something to do with the mess we are in right now. Vanek26 and Fhaemita Malodorous are both hard core USWP Pfeifferist puppets, Dennis McVicker is considered a troll and BigCDizzle is a Evry apologist; which leaves Paul Proteus who I do not know but must assume is also a Pfeifferist. This ticket is just like the last few Pfeiffer picked tickets...
declaring peace with the world would be a better start, image if players starting thinking for themselves instead of thinking of experience points...
Thanks for the explain. Good plan.

Paul Proteus is a decent pick. Vanek would be more useful in Defense.
nice article ..Facts..that are well, facts not just assumptions. Something other articles are missing other then the guess why eCA hasn't removed their NE which is kind of a mystery. However for them to really be this wary, they are some stubborn mofo's. I would not be against something official for the eUS to fight in eCA resistance wars vs the eUS. We may have to fight ourselves to return their regions. However if we do that and they still don't trust us then I say we wipe them.. ;P
I wanted to mention a very non-bias article as well. No arguing about issues just laying out the truth..

I love your use of a symbol which has been responsible for more murders than any other ideology in the history of mankind. The hammer and sickle is even MORE offensive than the swastika, and should be banned from eRepublik.

Actually I would bet the Chinese hold the record for mass murder....

Nazis, Commies, ho-hum. For a genocidal maniac with a real flair for the dramatic appropriate to the New World, we need to think more in the direction of Emperor Jean-Bédel Bokassa, who spent one third of his GDP on his coronation ceremony and was later indicted for, among other things, cannibalism.
"...which leaves Paul Proteus who I do not know but must assume is also a Pfeifferist."
If you don't know him, then why MUST you assume he's a "Pfeifferist"? No wonder you're so paranoid all of the time. All the players whom you don't know MUST be "Pfeifferist".
For the record, there are a ton of players in this game who don't have a clue who he is, including many, many in the eUS. wth...?
No offense Henry. 😛😛
Best of luck Civil. o/
And Paul is a great guy! \o/

And from what I've read in the past, your articles and comments, you are an Evry apologist yourself.
there is the possibility that, not only is it stupid too try and trump hateful images and the crimes they have associated with them, that some very bad things really weren't recorded at all...I mean who killed of all those wonderful dinosaurs, the shear weight of them probably help stabilize the earth so it didn't wobble as much as it seems to...maybe I need too drink less beer and not blame my instability on the earth wobbling???
USA THE FAILERS ALLIES
...but where is the FUN 🙁
Oh look the same people in the cabinet. EVERY F-ING TIME.
^ I'm actually pretty new.....seeing as I've never been involved in any cabinets....ever.
@Dru, I appreciate the name drop, but I am curious as to how you would catagorize me as an "Evry apologist". not trying to troll here, just wanting to make sure that what you're accusing me of is actually a legitimate claim.
You are a smart guy, one of the rare elites that I do respect but I'm afraid that EDEN will decide this POTUS race (Cromanians, Turks, Greeks...)
" USA cannot be trusted " you got that right
hhmmm
omg using communist symbols, no vote.. same as nazi symbols..
Hey Civil instead of buying VOTES on every article you make, how about helping people instead? Too Soon? Too Soon?!
Your selfish bro and people are not as stupid as you think.
