[eAustralian Government] Making Connections

Day 2,133, 18:22 Published in Australia Australia by eAus Department of Information

Making Connections:

eRepublik is a social game, so it's no wonder that as a core element we should be engaging with the community and meeting new people and making new friends. So this will be a quick guide that will give you some ways of becoming more involved and making new friends, domestically and internationally.

IRC:

IRC is the best way of chatting with people for rapid fire conversation. Even just 10 minutes will see you meet so many people and have some good fun. IRC is available using Mibbit, Rizon and other chat networks.

Follow this link to get on IRC

There are many rooms on IRC, but the most common is #ausrep (we use the # because that is how you get to a room). Just type /j #ausrep to get chatting. Once there you can ask anyone for help. Generally each party, MU or group might have their own IRC Room. For example WarCrew us #warcrew for extra chatting as well as #ausrep.

Recently Iain_Keers created a new Room for us all as well. It's called #ecommonwealth and it was announced in this article Essentially this new IRC room is for anyone in the RL or E Commonwealth, be it the UK, Australia, New Zealand or Canada (C'mon guys come to the light!) Over the past few weeks we've seen Aussies do some massive damage for the UK and we've seen the UK more than once come to our aid in an effort to remove the invaders of our land. So I encourage everyone to join the channel and make some international contacts and bring our nations closer together!

The Forums:

Although the forums has in recent times undergone a bit of scrutiny (there's no denying it); it is still apart of the community for some. The forums generally contain everything from RL Chat to the Senate or Party Forums. They can be found at this location.

I'll leave everyone to make their own conclusions.

In-Game Features:

Plato has also given us a variety of methods to communicate in-game as well. These are:

1. Messages

Obviously the most common form of communication, we can send messages to our friends OR we can create group messages. I know I have done this for my party in the past and use it now for Senate and Cabinet talks.

2. Feeds

Feeds allow you to send shouts to people. They are a great way of spreading word, or gaining information. Try to check your feeds at least once a day to keep up to date and also get engaged with your party, MU and friends at large.

3. Articles

News articles are invaluable, especially ones from the Government. Always make sure you vote or even shout DoD Orders, Government information for new players or special announcements, because it makes it in the top 5 for everyone and ensures the community remain aware of recent events. It's also good to engage in entertainment articles as well and if you feel confident enough, write your own!

So that concludes this article. I hope everyone gets a little more involved because you never know what you're missing out on until you try it. It is also important to ensure you remain active in a tough period such as this one where we are occupied. So keeping morale and your spirits high by getting some community engagement is excellent! (Also remember, the more friends you make overseas, the more likely they are to help us out!) Do it for the country and do it for yourself! Let's Party.
