Onward and Upward.
Roger Griswald
It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I am leaving eCanada. With the recent political upheaval involving the CP nearly resigning, a traitor and thief being pardoned and the general lack of interest in stopping these trends, I have come to realize that my values in building a strong, stable eCanada are outdated and no longer germane within our community and government. As of today I have tendered my resignation as EPIC Party President, a Congress-Member, a Colonel in the Canadian Armed Forces, and from my posts as eCanadian Ambassador to the eUK, eJapan and eSouth Korea.
I have been honoured to serve in a number of positions within eCanada throughout my eLife and am grateful to all that have worked to improve our eNation. I have come to realize that eCanada is changing in a way that I cannot support. As such, it makes the most sense for me to move on with my eLife and try to start enjoying the game once more. eCanada is dying; its once strong community has abandoned the roots of nation-building, aiding new players, and thorough political debate. I have tried for months to help counter this trend, however it is clear to me now that popular opinion has shifted away from focusing on community building and onto petty personal gain and frivolity.
To those who say that I should stay and fight, I say: I am sorry but I just don’t have any fight left. To those that say I am a coward for leaving, I say: the country is yours to mold as you see fit, make the most out of it.
I am moving to eAlbania to help them as best I can for a while.
I wish you all the best of luck,
Roger Griswald

The eCan diaspora grows ever larger by the day. I'd say so long, but I already abandoned ship.
Please keep writing.
I wouldn't take 10 Rolo's over one Ralph or Roger. x5
And so we die...
We should definitely get a beer sometime.
Might as well paste my comment from Roger's shout:
Today we lost Roger and Alias Vision from Congress, plus Ralph Kline a couple days ago.
It does not bode well for those remaining but this time (unlike the last time) I do hope that you and the others find what you need elsewhere. It's understandable.
Oh, and Kushskins left, too, but we can't get the smell out so it still feels like he's home.
Good luck. I hope you do well in eAlbania.

Another piece of the foundation leaves. All the best Roger.

ROGER
Y U leaving 🙁
(OK I perfectly know the hell why...)
With all these departures, I see mine coming soon...er.
One day I hope all the great people who have left decide to return and usher in a new age of awesomeness.
Chicken, chicken.
I would rather say that whole eRepublik is one big dump, Ethel. Much of what is happening, not just in eCanada, is a result of what this game has became. I remember a time when all of us involved in eRepublik, whether players or admins, has cherished ideals such as honor, fairness, etc. Today, the only principle presented by admins is greediness. If that is a highest value of morality imposed by a supreme in-game authority (administrators/game constructors), it's not to be expected that players would be different. What kind of players can be expected is defined by game rules and game principles.
The bottom line is this: you don't expect classy persons in suits, ties and dresses to visit biker clubs and vice versa.
I'm thinking of giving up playing eRepublik because it's not fun anymore. Because this virtual society of individuals with common goals has became a dump where personal benefit is an ultimate goal, set by administrators (or Plato, if you wish). And this ultimate goal can be accomplished only by trampling over dead bodies. No more respect...
Semper, I tend to agree with your mechanistic take on eRep's evolution, specifically how it has been shaped by the tinkering admins did with the game to emphasize single-player goals that require Gold versus the real 'Republic' concept that the game was founded on. It's their product to tweak yet our choice to stay playing or not. But eCanada seems plagued more by the consequences that followed.
The eUS Military is a great place for eCanadians to visit and recharge the batteries (I know, I'm one). And if you can really kick ass, the Marines -- the elite fighting force of the eUS Military -- is the place to be!
PM me if you need a reference or links to the applications.
Quitters never Win, and Winners never Quit....
The more I read, the more I see that it may be that the exodus of canadian talent and leadership is a good thing. The suffering of the country as a whole is good, as it will possibly re-instill some amount of appreciation to the stability of what was, and what can be.
Someday , I too shall depart these fair lands, but no articles will be written for my departure. As will other canadians...to death or other lands...because they were driven away by the atmosphere of play that canada has grown into. eCanada screams for peace, but none listen, and those that hear loudest can stand no more and depart to foriegn shores to quell the blight that spreads rampantly within.
Roger, you will be missed, but hopefully your departure will allow more to see the need to leave. In your departure, I hope that people will see the need for the downfall of the eCanada that is, and from the smoldering ashes of defeat, the regrowth of the spirit that brought all the disparate voices into unison.
@chewytaz: actually, you are low enough kissing Rolo's boots every day. I assume that you have back-pain, also.
I wouldn't take 10 Rolo's over one Ralph or Roger. x10
Best of luck friend 🙂
Good luck Roger!
Every nation has good and bad times, the situation will never remain the same..

Good riddance to bad rubbish.
There have been at least 10 people that left the country because they got tired of no one doing something about what they felt was a problem.
The thought of those people getting together and fixing it themselves apparently didn't dawn on any of them.
In the immortal words of Trooper:
If you dont like what you see, why dont you fight it?
If you know there's something wrong why dont you right it?
Raise a little hell , raise a little hell, raise a little hell!
Raise a little hell , raise a little hell, raise a little hell!
In the end it comes down to your thinking
And there's really nobody to blame
When it feels like your ship is sinking
And you're too tired to play the game
Nobody's going to help you
You've just gotta stand up alone
And dig in your heels and see how it feels
To Raise a little Hell of your own
I'll just leave this here

Like oh so often you are wrong, Muglack. They fought. They fought for more than a year.
You never understood how we play this game, so it should be of no suprise that you question their motives now (and i don't blame you for that - i did not expect anything else). Fighting makes tired and there comes a time where you have to face the fact you lost. Canada is still somewhat of a democacy and if they mayority shows you daily that they wish to shape a Canada that is totally different from the country you wish to live in, you should consider searching for new shores. What can be troublesome in rl, is no problem in here.
Best of luck to you my friend. I hope you keep in touch......
We had some great times, until next time bud...... o7
why dont you just gtfo and stfu?
god damn losers on this game
"They fought. They fought for more than a year.
You never understood how we play this game"
No. I understand exactly how they play the game. Sadly, so does Rolo and that's why he's been able to do what he has.
Think of eCanada as the Vietnam war, and Rolo et al are the VietCong. You're trying to use conventional tactics against an unconventional foe. If you fought Rolo on his on terms he wouldn't stand a chance. But instead of changing their tactics for over a year, they continued doing what they always did and let him wrack up win after win
No joke, Rolo could be a non-issue in this country in 2 months and 7 days. You just have to be willing to do what it takes to get it done.
A plan, Muglack, you forgot about the part that states what plan can do that job in 2.25 months.
No point saying there is a holy grail if you have no idea what it looks, smells, tastes, and votes like.
I wouldn't take 10 Rolos over one Ralph or Roger. x11
Actually, I know exactly what the plan is.
The first step wouldn't be letting Wally run unopposed as the PP of a Top 5 party next time there's an election. By letting him do so you free up enough voters for Rolo to take a party like the CPP by a relatively small margin.
If you played your cards right you could limit him to 1 top 5 Party, and maybe a couple of lower ones. If you're lucky, you might be able to take all of the low ones as well.
From there you employee the same tactics he does to garner votes, and if everything went according to plan you could probably oust him from his last stronghold party in a relatively short period of time (3 PP elections).
The other option is to contain him in a party and actively push it out of the Top 5. It would take a concerted effort obviously but it's not impossible.
The long and short of it is, you don't win fights by backing up.
While I don't disagree with Muglack, in point of fact those things have been tried. I myself changed parties over a dozen times to try and alter the Top 5 or to protect a certain party from take over.
Rigour6, it's not a plan that one person such as yourself can accomplish. It would take a 'team' effort.
The fact that it has never happened goes to further prove that there is no team.
That's mostly my point Rigour.
Tons of players have left this country disillusioned and down trodden complaining that nothing's been done.
My argument at this point is that enough people have been "run off" that if they had bothered to work together instead of small individual efforts they would of in all probability been successful.
But that's the problem with your "Team", no one seems to think they're on one.
