[eUSA]International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
Gnilraps
I am a big fan of discrimination.
It is a necessary skill, after all, to be able to discriminate the nuances between one thing and another that is quite like the first.
For instance, let's take Coffee.
While some prefer the darker tones of a French Roast, I prefer a Light Roast with a bit of nut on the palate. Were I not able to discriminate, my life would be the poorer.
Or if you're not into the finer points of food and beverage, perhaps you can relate to the importance of discrimination when it comes to movies or video games. Which offers a better experience, TETRIS or PONG? Only the ability to discriminate can lead you to making the best possible decisions regarding your gaming dollar.
And so when the topic of the "Elimination" of some kind of "Discrimination" comes to the fore, what are we to do?
We should ask ourselves if the practice of such discrimination is appropriate based on objective standards.
We should ask ourselves if the practice of such discrimination will lead to the betterment of human experience.
We should ask ourselves if the practice of such discrimination will elevate the good and frustrate the bad.
In short, we should ask ourselves if, in this particular context discrimination is actually an appropriate practice.
In the case of Racial Discrimination the answer is a resounding "NO".
Racial Discrimination is based on non-objective, ethnocentric, and skewed bias.
Racial Discrimination leads to a worsening of human experience on both sides of the discrimination.
Racial Discrimination elevates the bad and frustrates the good.
In short, there should be no place for Racial Discrimination. In fact, what we refer to as Racial Discrimination would better be described as despicable and ignorant hatred.
This is one kind of discrimination I absolutely DO NOT ABIDE.
And so on this International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination,
I, Gnilraps, President of the eUnited States of America, do declare eUSA, its government, and all its good people to be of one accord in the struggle against the pernicious evil of Racial Discrimination.
I further hereby condemn all Racial Discrimination in all of its forms, and declare that insofar as I and the Executive Branch of Government are able, we will publicly stand against it where it appears.
I further call upon every eAmerican to support the publications being made this day for this great cause.
I further laud and honor eRepublik for being a game wherein Racial Discrimination is not tolerated, and thank its creators and administrators for continuing to uphold this important standard.
And I, Gnilraps, President of the eUnited States of America officially and permanently ban all Racists from holding any office in eUSA from this day forward and forevermore.

In a game where you can change your citizenship (and thus nationality) on a whim, and be anyone you want to be (black/white/brown/male/female/other) or any combination thereof that your imagination can dream up there is no place for real and actual racism and bigotry.
Embrace the good of human nature. Our limitless potential and imagination.
Reject the bad. Our tribalism and fear of the unknown.
That is great and all, but when will fun be legalized?
Wow you're from Texas? Do you ride Horses to school?
Racial Discrimination elevates the bad and frustrates the good.
"Those that desire bad things do not know that they are truly bad; otherwise, they would not desire them. They do not naturally desire what is bad but rather desire those things that they believe to be good but that are in fact bad. They desire good things even though they lack knowledge of what is actually good." ~Socrates
But it is allowable to be racist for the human race, isn't it? 🙂
No aliens allowed?
not until they show up, then we might have to redefine human... 🙂

Yes. Don't discriminate. We are obviously all exactly the same. Everyone. Exactly. Obviously.
Did you read the article?
Discrimination is a learned ability and necessary life skill. What is not acceptable is discrimination on the basis of race. I would add more broadly religion, gender, age and sexuality to that list (although if you’re looking for a priest then discrimination on the grounds of religion is not just ok but necessary, among other obvious exceptions to my expanded list). But that’s not the point of the article or the international celebration.
There is no valid reason to discriminate on the basis of race.
That's it Ilene. It has nothing to do with all of us being the same. It has to do with avoiding the evil of turning those differences into an excuse to Discriminate. And as I said, I truly do think the term "Discrimination" is an unfortunate one for this context. Because we could make the case that we do and should "discriminate" between people of differing culture and ethnicity. But rather than be obtuse about it, I've adopted the language and joined with those who oppose race-based oppression, hatred, bigotry, and other evils.
Really, "Racial Discrimination" is about the most useless moniker ever. A point I was hoping would subtly emerge from my article. I suspect that is the point Molly Emma is making and I'll assume her wry comment was simply in agreement with that point.
Hard to argue with that. I agree. And yes. I read the article.
