~ A Litmus Test for Honour ~
Roger Griswald
The eWorld in in a state of flux. Alliances are shifting and it appears that in the global back and forth struggle for alliance domination this will not be EDEN’s month. That is not to say that EDEN will not be back on top next month—heavens know that EDEN has been counted down and out more times then I can count and yet it is still alive and is still the single strongest alliance in the game— but I am simply generalizing a growing trend in the military campaigns that dominate eRepublic.
As someone that recently past my 1,000 day of playing the game, I like to look back on the ongoing struggles between warring eNations. While eIndia’s conflict with eCroatia is a new one and will likely dominate our attention over the next few weeks, a conflict is brewing that will dominate the entire eWorld soon and we will have front row seats.
Nearly 200 days ago a war ended that captured the attention of many and its consequences led to a shift in alliances. The conflict consumed the Iberian Peninsular and resulted in the wiping of eSpain from the map. What was more interesting then the wipe itself was that it was not led by neighboring France nor oceanic-bordering eUSA, no it was led by a force that had journeyed from the other side of the eWorl
😛eChina.
While at the time EDEN was the dominate alliance in the game, over the next week we will see the flip side of that conflict.
After several weeks of planning and warring, eSpain have worked its way to sharing a border with eChina from its occupation of the ePhilippines. They proposed eChina as their Natural Enemy yesterday and will begin the assault shortly.
eSpain has a singular goal: to return the favour. They will lead a tWo/CoT assault with the intention of wiping eChina from the map and they have their fingers crossed that this will cause eChina to seriously question its allegiance to EDEN. If things go their way eIndia will soon share a border with eSpain.
In the conflict in the Iberian Peninsular, eIndia fought hard for our eChinese allies. However much has changed for eIndia in the last week. While we still have an alliance with eChina, we will be forced into a tricky situation. eIndia’s newly signed allies will not want to see eIndia fighting against them.
So here is the true litmus test for our eNation, are we willing to trash our long standing alliance with eChina and aid in their destruction, or will we honour our alliance and help them defend their land as they have helped us a number of times before?

haha you're an able populist I give you that.
This was a great deflection of attention article.
So let me get this straight:
You're calling on Indians to abonden the defence of their country from the agression of Croatia, so they can fight for China which is part of the same alliance as is Croatia and which attempted to switch MPPs just recently.
It seems China was well and fine with not fighting for India and sacrificing it's MPP with India in favour of Croatia which has invaded India after being a guest in their house.
This is not a test of ones loyalties but a test of ones masochism, I do admit yours towards EDEN is of the highest level.
By the way take a peak at all the brotherly love of the sisterhood going on here:

well said eRicharrd Parker.
All I will say is "I stand with India." AND with ALL those who stand by India.
I did not see China fighting for India against Croatia and I think its fair enough for us as well to abstain from fighting against China. We need to focus on Croatian battles and seize the advantage.
@ eRichard Parker: Nope you missed ht mark. I am not talking about eIndian's not fighting for eIndia. I am talking about eIndia's choosing to remain on side with eChina when they are attacked by eSpain. Also, I will assume you are new and therefore didn't see the many eChinese players that have fought for eIndia against eCroatia.
My article is about standing with a long term ally, one that has had eIndia's back through many previous wars (from ePakistan to eThailand). Lets not turn oh those that have not turned on us.
Although its quite interesting that honourable nations take repeated tests for honour : D
@Ashwamedh, I guess you think eIndia should be a fair weather friend? Being loyal to allies, especially those that we just resigned an MPP with is not too much to ask for. To abandon eChina now would be a clear indicator that we only fight for our own interests. Not a very good ally at all.
Regardless of your side pro-EDEN or pro-CoT, honouring MPPs is a basic rule of the game.
Before my thoughts get twisted out of context, I do not advocate fighting AGAINST china...my aim will be very clear - fight hard to gain our own liberty and then decide on any future course of action.
@ Ashwamedh: I believe your strategy to be a sound one, however remember that we will never have liberty without help from a few allies.
Honestly, had eChina gone full assault against Croatia on our side, would we have lost?
We are honouring the MPPs... its a delicate balance between things. We did not question those who did not fight for us (whichever nation it may be) cos we respect their decision and do not try to influence it. We expect other nations to do the same for us.
We are a small nation who have to take advantage of whatever opportunity presents itself to level the playing field and fight for liberty. eChina are a powerful nation with powerful friends... and we are sure they will pull through.
Im quite curious though why China signed an MPP with Croatia when they knew we were fighting for our freedom. Was that honouring our alliance?
We however understood and accepted it... China stayed true to its friend Croatia, and stayed MPPed with India as well. Now when game mechanics are dictating them to choose a side, they will , and we will as well... but we will always respect them and be thankful to them.
Ashwamedh, you pose an interesting question. What did eChina say when we asked them about renewing the MPP with eCroatia and about help us to stop eCroatia?
It seems like a smart first step, simply ask eChina to help stop a war with eCroatia. Wonder what their answer was?
@Roger
Actions speak louder then words. I don't think there is any hostility here against China and there shouldn't be any. It is quite understandable why they tried to switch the MPPs after all the EDEN charter forces them to.
However at the moment India and China find each other at oposite sides of the barricades and this situation has not come of India's choosing but of Croatia's and member of the same alliance China is.
Trying to exploit India's relations with China to force upon India conditions will only put a strain on those relations in the future, if that is your aim then you're doing a great job. Then again someone had posted some comments of yours about attacking China in the past....
Nah, I have not given up hope that eIndia will remain neutral until a formal alliance is chosen via referendum. I am simply asking us not to throw out relationship out before we make a decision.
As for me being clever. I am actually not sure what you are getting at... I believe strongly in debate and discussion. Would you rather I write nothing and we can all go back to a dead media module and get rid of the new community vibrancy we have created here.
I would rather you keep consistent to what you say: "I have not given up hope that eIndia will remain neutral until a formal alliance is chosen via referendum"
Instead of promoting the one and only (slightly diluted) path of EDEN.
No one wants to ruin relations with China, but by grasping at everything posible to make India go back to a PRO-EDEN path you're actually forcing people in the other direction.
Bring out more arguments and less rhetoric and dogmas and then we can really have vibrancy to the media module instead of propaganda engagements.
I agree all Indians should collectively decide which direction their country should take in the future, however in my opinion an educated decision free of emotional ineptitude can only be done once India is free and the current war has ended, thus it is a prerequisite to any such decision.
Only after that all the arguments can be put on the table honestly and without bias. Until then any attempt to use emotional blackmail to form the political outlook of the country cannot be anything else then clever populism (by saying clever I'm actually giving credit even though it may not seem so).
Well, we do seem to have a knack for over complicating things. When we were in EDEN and found our long time ally Bulgaria across the battle lines, we decided we will still stay with EDEN, but will not participate in any direct attacks on Bulgaria. And it worked well I guess
Now the situation has changed and we find China in an opposing alliance from CoT (towards which we seem to be leaning). I guess the same approach applies. As a govt, we should not take side in this battle, just like eChina did not in the battle between eCroatia and eIndia.
And I agree with Ash and eRP.. The focus is our survival at this time
Richard Parker for CP!😃

F*ck eChina, f*uck EDEN
GO eSPAIN!!
I think people need to realise that any alliance comes with a lot of baggage. I think people need to realise that agendas are in place here where individuals and groups have a stance and will use whatever opportunities they can to ensure that it is heard as vocally as possible. I think it's important to point out that these stances can and will have a damaging and long-lasting affect on India.
All the more reason to have a proper analysis and debate. When can we have one please?
@Death
Exactly my point, drop the rhetoric and let's have the discussion with arguments. However that will be very hard in a time of an emotional, national liberation war, so finish the war, liberate the country and sit down and decide the future path based on rationality and not emotions.
After 5 years of the game, everything and everyone has baggage, this does not mean that choices no longer have to be made, on the contrary more then ever that is the case and as time goes by they do not become easier but harder.
Even more a reason to do them on a clear head and rationally rather then emotionally and based on rhetoric.
This current war with Croatia is no impediment to the government in getting a committee together to establish the pros and cons of different alliances. We either get wiped or we don't. If I was in government I would be talking to Croatia right now to halt hostilities, as I'm sure Croatia would prefer to be spending its resources fighting for China.
We are neutral, but this was is particularly pointless and costly, other than TP medals etc.
The decision to attack Northern India yesterday before the China - Croatia MPP was enacted has been noted by the powers that be.
People, though it might seem that ending the war with Croatia is the thing to be done, but if I were the govt. (which I am not ofc) I would go on with it,we know we had a part in the mess but frankly, its been an eternity since eIndia had a real war which mattered : /
Yep, its time to wipe the Double Spaniards again.
I stand with eChina.
