Good job.
Fantastic Line-Up.

It's an honor

Are divisions really necessary? we all just fight where we are told anyway.
Dylan? Yes, they are honey.
When the IDF is rockin again, you will see why.
Good, but its a bit sad to see people like edfluff becoming a XO, he has always been a commanding officer and a dahm good one. From what i see from my knowledge in rl, rank is everything. Ive seen squaddies that are better than their corporals etc. Fair enough you did it on the high ranks as CO's but that means you are losing very good CO's.
Donovan said earlier were starting out with a smaller number of divisions. Once more recruits come in he said all the previous CO's we will be given a command again. Dont worry
i meant to say "rank isnt everything" not rank is everything.
This is pretty annoying. I was firstly appointed CO without applying and now when I do apply I amn't CO anymore. That's ridiculous.
Thanks Niall, much appreciated. Im working with heath department also and have plenty to do. Im looking forward to working with enigma and pushing our squad to new heights?
Captain Gormley, what is ridiculous is that you are over 6 month old with 154 fights and only a Captain.
If you cant rank yourself up, how can I expect you to motivate and rank up younger Players?
That's not ridiculous at all. I missed a load of the War Games we had in Rhode Island due to RL commitments and poor internet connection. Recently, I would have ranked up quicker but I moved to the Southeast because that's where my party wanted me to run for Congress and now I'm stuck there now that I'm a Congressman. Would you rather I give up that post because if I did people would be complaining too?
And I hate how you deflect the attention away from the real issue and onto me. Firstly, I did a great job before as CO without even wanting it but now suddenly I'm not good enough. The real issue is poor organisation because how can I get an important position without wanting it and then not get it when I actually want it. I just can't understand that.
Your explanation doesn't make sense because then how did I become CO previously?
@Niall
Colonel Edfluff was chosen based on his professional application for I have no personal experience with him. By placing him as XO I have the opportunity to see him in action.
Only two application were not selected for Command or an Executive Office. I shall not appoint CO's to divisions without soldiers, nor appoint CO's who have not shown the initiative to rank up on their own.
My fifteen years of active duty, three Combat tours and 7 promotions (all RL) have taught me that Rank IS everything. A genius Non Com is a blessing, but he still needs to support the Chain of Command. It's how you utilize your people and material that counts. You must guide them to take your place.
-MoD
Captain Gormley,
I shall not argue with you. If you wish to serve, then do so. If you cannot support the Chain of Command then your resignation will be processed with due haste. The sign on the door to my office reads;
"Reasons, not excuses."
Edfluff was a fine Commanding Officer, and will prove so, again, if he wishes.
Rank IS important. Only game-fighting experience brings you experience. Not reading, not fine speeches, not toy-soldier armies. Just fighting, and networking. Travelling to fight is best.
We have had far too many theorists, in this country, who have not committed themselves. I have had this out in public before, too.
If you don't apply yourself, training, ranking, challenging those closest to you, you just won't progress. End of.
BTW, every soldier I have mentored, had risen to the challenge, and ranked at a commendable speed, and trained everyday.
Sadly, you can't do everything; suits and boots are different animals, some combine these roles well, with initiative, and creativity.
Some don't.
*Salutes General Grainne*
Well said Ma'am. Well said.
it wont let me enlist
oohaah10highfields,
I will have to push you into the system. I will notify you when completed.
"Recently, I would have ranked up quicker but I moved to the Southeast because that's where my party wanted me to run for Congress and now I'm stuck there now that I'm a Congressman."
You can still move around Ireland without having to resign.
I also get told my name isn't a valid citizen
The bug with enlistment just cropped up. Until it is fixed, please PM DoD org with enlistment requests.
General TG, you can report directly to General Castaneda with SPECWAR. I will enlist you when the bug gets sussed out.
I wasn't questioning the chain of command, I want to be part of it! I was just pointing out massive problems in the way the IDF is run and I meant it as constructive criticism and I hope you take it that way. There are many more problems needed to be pointed out too. By the way, what would I be resigning from? The IDF has been brilliant but it has come to mean less and less. It now feels as imaginary as it actually is whereas before it felt very real. I am a smart soldier with plenty to contribute but you just turn me away and insult me and cause my disillusionment which I'm sure many soldiers feel. Also, can I ask you this? Why are we applying to Conor Larkin the Chief of Staff and then being told by you whether or not we have been appointed? That makes no sense to me.
@Top Gun: Ah, damn I did not know that. Thanks!
I've always tried to improve my rank but it has often hit a snag and I always encouraged soldiers under my command to rank. I've moved to the Northeast now and it's full speed ahead in terms of ranking up. Hopefully in the future you will recognize my efforts and promote me again.
Ive ranked up once. And just recently won award for initiative as a Corporal (tonight).
I realise you have more expierience as a officer in the Navy but rank means squat on eRepublik as all it shows is you can click fight. I can sure name people like General Grainne who are better than some of our Field marshalls.
I know my drill is better than my officers and i can see some of of my senior NCO's arnt as good as myself. Really it does matter on the person regardless of ranks, in my time i have seen some dahm stupid promotion but you have to live with it.
Niall
@John G.
Officers who openly criticize their service in a public forum not to mention an official release will find they are persona non grata in ANY military. I don't deal with insults. I deal in orders. Stand Down.
@Niall,
I understand where you are coming from. Remember, I've been there. Be that guy who isn't a waste of a uniform. I'm sure you are already the example to be. 😉
Yes just voicing my concerns. Though you are doing a great job so far. I will not waste it don't worry. Thanks for the fast reply DT. It may look like im trying to pick faults but im not, im just trying to help you improve on the great things youve done so far.
Trust me Niall, I don't take issue with your words. I also believe we need to groom new leaders. Cant have the same guys in charge forever or other citizens wont learn.
good point
Remember people.....Ours is not to reason why...
I will stand down. But let me just say this first. All I was doing was raising legitimate concerns about how the IDF is run and I wasn't really trying to criticize you at all. I apologize if that's how it turned out but if you had addressed those concerns effectively I would have stood down long ago. Instead you diverted attention from them by admonishing me. It doesn't really bother me that I've lost my command. It's the way you dealt with it that bothers me. You were very disrespectful to me. Granted I was disrespectful too but surely that was somewhat understandable in the first instance because I was reacting to the shock of losing my command. If you had then respectfully explained the situation to me I would have calmed down, I would've apologized and all would be fine. But, unfortunately it became a heated argument. All I can do is apologize for my part in it and carry on with my work as a soldier. I hope you understand where I'm coming from with this. I was worried about how the IDF is going and that's all...
Also I admit I should have PM'ed you about my concerns but so too should you have PM'ed me explaining things to me instead of referring to my military record as "ridiculous". I feel we're both in the wrong here.
Again, I apologize and I hope you don't think badly of me as a result of this horrible incident.
Volunteer army = gotta be nice to the volunteers🙂 Or risk another IVF forming...
Gratz to all the appointments, particularly my own CO & XO The Enigma and Edluff.
@John Gormley,
All of your complaints were addressed in previous DoD releases. Your comments made it apparent that you did not read the DoD releases in their entirety. Disrespect is never "understandable", especially in a case where a subordinate did not do the basic research to answer their own questions.
I would have been happy to entertain intelligent questions. I will not however put up with claims of "ridiculous" decisions from someone who did not take the time to read and understand their orders properly.
From Previous Articles:
"We have all filled out numerous forms. This form will be the second to last form you will fill out. I need an accurate list of all active personnel who wish to enlist or re-enlist in the IDF. You will find the link at the bottom of the page at the ENLIST NOW button, but I urge caution that you read all in this release first.
Applications for CO are now being solicited from all former commanding officers regardless of rank and of officers of the rank of Colonel and above regardless of previous position.
Note: No Commanding Officers are being fired, however there will not be enough billets in the beginning for all present CO’s to retain command. Be patient, when the IDF is expanded those who have already proven themselves with return to leadership positions."
Ridiculous? Or lack of attention to detail on your part?
Good work! 🙂
Suits and boots, dear Grainne? I have to say that I think my spear will make a better visual aid than my boots when I walk into a room wearing a nice, tidy suit 😉
As for the article, well done everyone. Looking forward to bloodwork and the strengthening of eIreland's sword-arm.
well Bradums, you are pretty cute in the suit too 😉
