Order in the Chaos: The Second Impeachment
Spir Tus
Almost everyday there will be new reactions in debates about things nobody seems to really understand. There are a lot of opinions and people who are reffering to old debates. There seems to be an ethos of common knowledge and habits. Information is not needed, because everyone understands the common, usual things. This is called experience, and I do not have it. For someone new, or someone who does not follow all the debates, it is hard to understand a debate and to participate. The aim of this column is to create order in this chaos. This time I will try to give some clearance of the impeachment of the government of Gen. de la Rey.
Information is very important. We've seen this with the last government with Country President GEN. DE LA REY. This government is impeached by congress mainly due to the lack of communication. There are a lot of discussion going on about this, so I would like to adress this discussion and I hope this will help for a clearer view on the impeachment. This will mainly be my personal motivation why I voted 'Yes' for the impeachment of that government.
The main reason for the impeachment of the government of Gen. de la Rey is ignoring the decision of congress. There was a voting for a War with Belgium and congress voted 'No' for this war. Nevertheless, the war started. There was no communication about this war. Not for its citizens (see my previous article) nor for congress. There was no explanation at all why we had this war in spite of the decision of congress. The government stated they couldn't inform the citizens or congress because of NSPP has forbidden to talk about the war.
For me personally, the lack of communication as a citizen was very frustrating. All of a sudden we were at war and noone knew why. The war had become a secret war from my point of view. Asking government members about this war resulted in the answers that it was forbidden to talk about the war. Even little information like "There is a war going on with Belgium" was forbidden according to some government members.
Congress has the highest authority in our country. This is an important democratic value. This means the government should always listen to congress. If they don't they are damaging our democracy. For me this was enough to vote "Yes" on the impeachment voting. Even if this meant we wouldn't have a government for the last week of this term.
Some days ago it became clear to me that the government of Gen. De la Rey wasn't ignoring congress. They were only very bad in communicating this to congress. Because there was no information about the whole war starting process (because this war forbidden), congress hadn't a clear view of what was going on. Anyway, this was the case for me.
Do I regret my choice for impeaching the government of Gen. De La Rey? I don't know. With the information which I have now, I would have voted 'No'. But it looked like the government was ignoring congress in decision making and this should be prevented always and at all costs to assure democracy.
The fact is, if the government of Gen. De la Rey was better informing congress, I would have voted differently. So due to the lack of communication they were impeached. The lack of communication was also a reason to impeach them, but not the most important one. Like many people said before, the government of Gen. de la Rey wasn't the worst government in communication and with their appointment as government after the Lord Jale impeachment in mind, it was a very bad situation. They have done their best for our country and I haven't lost any confidence in any of the government members. But the facts are that they are impeached because congress didn't knew about the war.
Next up will be an article about the interim government. This is a new phenomenon which is created because we have no official government anymore with the impeachment of the government of Gen. De la Rey. Tomorrow you will find some information about this interim government and the upcoming war with Hungary, so stay tuned!

Nice article! A few comments;
First off all; Indeed we have no Gov now. Although some say we have an interim one that can't be true. A CP is coosen by the people. There is no rule about chosing a CP by congress and therefore that aint legit and will only be one of the forum games that are the reason I haven't joined forum for quite some time now.
Second; Gov will in cases of war not by far inform congress al the time We've seen that in RL several times as well. Congress can not overrule a CP/gov on that.
Third; Should you have voted different? I think yes as the result is worse as it was. Congress should have known the consequence of not having a gov the remainder of the term and therefore not have impeached the CP.
Without 'forum games' we would have an anarchy. Always a rogue CP like Lord Jale in power and impeachments everyday. The forum is very important, especially for the political module of this game. All votings are related to the 'forum game' debates which thereby is part of the game itself. If you're interested in politics, you should join the forum because all political things are there.
Of course the government can keep important information secret. But you can't fight a war without anyone knowing there is a war going. You can't get away with ignoring decisions of congress. If there is no communication about why you are ignoring congress (in this case, they weren't), than there would have been no impeachment
I would have voted differently I guess, but not because of the result, but because of the extra information. It is very good to experience this situation without a government. We will know the next time what will work and what doesn't.
You can shout about the 'forum games' aren't legit, and there shouldn't be an interim government, but we, on the forum, in congress are taking responsibility for our country and trying to make the best out of the situation. Shouting doesn't solve anything.
Oh we need the forum for sure. But the problem there is there seems to be some form of establishment with citizens that know it all and make rules that are not in line with the spirit of the game imo. I've been there, read a lot, reacted occasionally but saw enough to be convinced there are dirty games going on there and a lot of "vriendjes politiek". Sad I know. It's my belief the last impeachment was a result of that as well especially given the last message from kazcyk who clearly stated he was responsible for the eBE war. Had it been one of the established players or a friend of them only replacement from the MoD would have been asked....
in side eBelgium, we saw in the last moment you had No, but so late already voted.
We didn't have more informations then you 🙂 Voted
Voted for an informative article and pov .
So it comes down to that the gov was impeached due to lack of communication......pretty sad though.
Only the title of your article suggests that we've overcome our differences in eNL and that it's all blue sky & sunshine now....., which i would differ ...
Chaos has only grown bigger and bigger imo....No Gov...Invation at the doorstep by the Hun's ,and more dubious stuff going on.....
IMHO the country hasn't been more divided like the time with Vs/MdR and opponents .......
Sad to see that the progress that was made, is chucked out of the window.
I'm not pointing fingers at anyone , but its just sad to see that even a small community like eNL can't play together as a team.
Information and communication is more important than we think. The connection between forum and ingame is not very good and the gap between politicians (people on the forums) and fighters is widening.
It is indeed a very interesting time. I hope the next government will bring some stability, which is what we need indeed. On the positive side, I don't have to write articles anymore about activity, because this is the most active time I've ever seen in erepublik.
I'm sure we can do this together and will be a stronger country in the future. We have a lot of different opposing opinions which is hard to deal with for some people sometimes. We have to step over our own shadows and build bridges 😛
Perhaps it's time for a military dictatorship for a while. Commanders and captains of DAF will decide. Isn't that normal in some states without a gov?
Really great article!
(It should be published much earlier)
Yeah you are right. But I didn't have any time for this before. I originally planned to only write about the interim government, but the introduction was this article so way too long.
Just keep up the good work! I expect article about invasion of the Huns 😃
Voted! Although I completely disagree with your point of view, it is good that someone takes the effort to write it all down and inform the public. To me, lack of communication alone, should never be enough grounds for impeachment. As I stated before, eNL was not harmed, at least not even close to how much our friend Lord Jale tried to harm us. I think GDLR deserved some more credit trying to pick up the pieces, and the political situation was complicated.
On the plus side, I dont think it is possible to impeach the current interim gov or whatever you want to call it xD.
Want to bet? xD
good article...
Cool stuff.
