I am Out
Longbaugh
Hawai'i Congressional Election Results for June 25, 2009:
Longbaugh (USWP): 12
James Harding (LI
😎: 13
.
First things first, congratulations to James Harding and thank you Hawai’i for the consideration.
I suppose I'm more upset that I was beaten by a last-second replacement, rather than the guy who got the jump start on campaigning (although I'm sure the campaigning turned over and that Harding was no slouch).
I couldn't focus my campaigning this time around on working every day because that downtime last week went beyond schedule and when it came back online at 10 past midnight I had lost my third medal (it was my 90th day in a row). It was the hallmark of my winning campaign in June. Admin doesn't care.
What it really comes down to is a couple of significant screw-ups on my part and the fact that Claire just wanted Hawai'i more. The number one political party in eRepublik got out-sniped by the number four party. How much more simple can it get?
.
With all of that said, I'll be back next month. I may or may not run in Hawai'i again. I'd like to run in my RL state of California but I'll probably end up knocking off a Libertarian somewhere—I have a RL adversarial relationship with all libertarians and I guess it now translates into eRepublik. Maybe I'll run in New Jersey (I'd love to go against a beta giant like Emerick) or Texas (I'm a native). I'm not sure, but I'll be more than ready next time.
On July 25th, I'll be waiting.

It was a good run Longbaugh. Next time!
Longbuagh you were an outstanding candidate, it is truly a shame to see you not get through. However I have faith you will do well in future elections. Keep your chin up my friend, you have a lot of potential 🙂
I still don't get why you hate beta people(I don't like the giants term) so much. Could you explain for me?
@ Jyles
In addition to a previous article I wrote where a beta giant confirmed that he was a "god," I'll give you a small example.
PrincessMedyPi leaves the eUS because she doesn't like scrabman or the "endless boredom" of his administration. She comes back and decides to run for the largest seat in congress. She doesn't simply explain that it's because she wants the top dog seat, as well as the XP all those votes will get her... instead she lowballs it by explaining that she doesn't believe senators should leave the state they represent (and she wants to fight every day in a state with a Q5 hospital).
First of all, scrabman's presidency has given everyone hundreds upon hundreds of XP, so it ain't boring (unless your a beta giant and you hate that eRep has grown beyond your bubble). Secondly, only a self-proclaimed beta giant would have the gall to move back and gun for Florida. She could have ran in her old state, Alaska, and easily won but she probably thinks she deserves Florida (or, more than likely believes no one can do it better than her). I'd be surprised if MedyPi DIDN'T announce her retirement; or at least go on an anti-USWP rant seeing as how she came in third, with someone barely a month old getting 18 more votes than her.
When they can't absolutely rule, they absolutely complain; at least, that has been the widespread tendency.
Not to mention, it's just annoying that when eRepublik bounced from 60,000 members to 120,000 members in two months, all of the sudden these beta giants felt disappointed (...the aforementioned bubble...) and went on newspaper parades blowing kisses and catching roses as if we should all kneel and cry before their declarations to leave eRep for good. Who cares?
eRepublik is just a game. For anyone to have the arrogance that so many beta giants have (though not all) is just plain dumb.
Does that somewhat answer your question?
Somewhat, yes. Thank you.
Also, I'm sorry about your loss in the election. You seemed like a pretty good senator.
I wouldn't of been disappointed if fingerguns won, but how does a last-second replacement who's done little-to-no campaigning beat the awesome Longbaugh?
Keep your head high, it was a great run, you should've won.
"but how does a last-second replacement who's done little-to-no campaigning beat the awesome Longbaugh?"
That's pretty presumptuous. I PM'd every constituent in Hawaii, I put articles in every forum I could find, and I was online all election day looking for online Hawaiians and contacting them when I could. Additionally, Fingerguns made sure to contact all of the people she worked with in her campaign and point them in my direction.
I can assure you, I may have come in late, but I didn't sit on my laurels and pray.
Was there vote moving? I can't say for sure, but I don't discount it. It's common practice in all parties, they've all admitted to such; that said. I had 13 votes more than an hour before close of polls and was up 2 votes. It was Longbaugh that received the last minute vote, which I'm assuming was his own, honestly, since he was online.
I bear no ill will towards Longbaugh or the USWP. Indeed, I was quite up front and open about where I was coming from and who I was. Reading through the forums and Longbaugh's posts, I can tell he is a worthy congressmen and will run again and hold office again.
I will be sure that my term is marked by obvious and open cooperation and with all of government, no matter their party. As an example, my first vote in eRep was for Thomas.Anderson in CA. Why? Because he bothered to have a Presentation and it made sense.
I'm here to move eAmerica forward, not to reduce the USWP or increase the Libs. eUSA first, party well behind that.
Thanks,
JH
@ Daniel Hawkins
I don't know. Perhaps the threats of an Indonesian PTO were a way for PEACE to tilt the election in their favor... after all, scrabman (USWP) is anti-PEACE. Maybe PEACE won out this time.
@ James Harding
You won regardless. There was vote moving, make no mistake. The LiBs wanted to rectify the USWP dominance of the May 25th elections (and they did). The last vote wasn't mine and that's part of my mistake(s). It was Ananias trying to protect his party. I made the mistake of voting early.
It doesn't matter. All that matters is what turns out in the end.
Don't sweat the haters. It'll be hard to learn the ropes of congress. But, I'm sure you'll get it.
Personally, I'll be waiting for next month when I'll have the opportunity to shut down a LiB. Until that day... good fate my man.
Actually the last vote was mine. Ah well!
Your arrogance is amazing. Also, you shouldn't lump all people that started playing erep prior to you as evil beta giants. The vast majority of us that have been on erep for awhile don't expect any favors or special treatment, or think we are any better than anyone else.
I can't decide if you just don't have a real cause on erep and have to resort to mudslinging for attention, or if you are just geniunely a pathetic, jealous tool. Either way, your attitude isn't going to garner you much support in the future.
@ dubi
Mudslinging? Jealousy? Pathetic?
I've been nothing but cordial in defeat.
Like James Harding said, I was the first to congratulate him on his victory—doing so before he even knew what the outcome had been. In addition, when I answered a question I was asked about my opinion of so-called "beta giants" I qualified myself by stating, "at least, that has been the widespread tendency."
None of this denotes arrogance by any stretch. Arrogance deals in absolutes, not doubt. So, I don't know what the hell you're talking about. Maybe it's because I singled out PrincessMedyPi? I hear she's really popular with you guys.
You can't decide if I have a real cause on eRep? What's YOUR "real cause" on eRep dubi?
"With all of that said, I'll be back next month. I may or may not run in Hawai'i again. Maybe it's because your goal is to be anti-Libertarian.
I don't like libertarians. But I dislike conservatives a whole hell of a lot more. The problem is, you can't really find that many of them in office because they don't win.
I certainly wasn't anti-LiB or CVP when I was in office, and you know why I can back that up? Because I posted my entire voting record. Feel free to read it and be proved wrong whenever you like my man.
