Congressional Voting Record for the Week of 5/26 - 6/1
Longbaugh
Longbaugh
Jr. Senator, Hawai'i (USWP)
Jr. Member, Congressional Military Committee
Captain, NG 1st Platoon
.
5/27:
Transfer 99,999 USD from the country accounts to the Congressional Budget Office. Proposed by IanJohnLockeIV (USWP, Delaware).
YES
The first proposal of the new term it was fiscally necessary to make the transfer.
5/27:
President of Germany has proposed a MPP with USA. Proposed by Starkad Rorlikson.
YES
This was a freshman mistake. I voted "yes" in the interest of quelling anti-American fervor as a result of the misconception that scrabman betrayed them. I should have voted no simply because Germany is too close to being PTO'd for us to have anything to do with them until further developments.
5/27:
President of Malaysia has proposed a MPP with USA. Proposed by Vikta.
YES
They're one more (tiny) nation standing directly between Indonesian dominance of that region and we need them. They need us too, and that's why the MPP was free.
5/29:
The President of USA demanded a sum of 0 Gold from your National Treasury in return to a peace treaty with Sweden. Proposed by scrabman.
YES
We need Sweden for the reasons I mentioned in regards to why I should have voted "no" on the MPP with Germany.
5/30:
The President of USA demanded a sum of 0 Gold from your National Treasury in return to a peace treaty with Poland. Proposed by scrabman.
YES
Part of a necessary alliance (along with Sweden) against a PTO'd Germany.
5/30:
Minimum wage change from 1 USD to 1.01 USD. Proposed by Muljo Gobet (LIB, North Carolina).
ABSTAIN
I don't need to vote on a useless proposal from a deadbeat Libertarian congressman who flees to Turkey.
6/1:
President of Czech Republic has proposed a MPP with USA. Proposed by Franz Kafka.
YES
30 gold was paid to us by the Czech Republic in order to get this MPP through. While there is confusion among catty senators about whether or not we have to pay any gold for this MPP, scrabman has said he will not return 15 gold to the Czech Republic as the initial understanding was that the gold (all of it) was for the MPP.
Comments
Thanks Longbaugh!
It's a good deed to track your votes, but an even better deed to say why you voted that way.
hmmm... I think I shall follow his example
@ Hekter
Noted.
"I don't need to vote on a useless proposal from a deadbeat Libertarian congressman who flees to Turkey."
Do you know what he was doing in Turkey? Maybe you owe him an apology. Perhaps you should pay more attention to what is going on outside the eUSA.
> 30 gold was paid to us by the Czech Republic in order to get this MPP through.
Lol.
So, you're so weak and addicted to failure that you need one of the smallest country in the New World to pay the MPP they want with you ? That's like, wonderful.
"I should have voted no simply because Germany is too close to being PTO'd for us to have anything to do with them until further developments."
Couldn't you apply the same logic to the Czech Republic? The Czech Republic was PTO'd not so long ago. If anything, the Sweden/Germany debacle should have taught us that we need to be careful about making alliances so we only make those that we intend to honor.
Even large countries are close to being PTO'd.
@ Gertrude Groan
If he wants to fight for what he thinks is right, more power to him. I'm USWP but I find it somewhat odd and disingenuous for a libertarian to abandon the constituency that voted for him. While people are catcalling my party for PTO'ing our government, he leaves his seat and gives the USWP one more vote by further eliminating strong libertarian counter-argument. He should have never run for Congress. Now the Libs are that much further behind the USWP (and I believe in strong multiple parties). It's all well and good, I just don't want to see him come back here and call us a PTO like many Libertarians and Conservatives have been doing as of late.
@ Kirill
30 gold was given to us with no strings attached. Now they want a MPP. If you, Kirill, were BETTER you would argue that we were being bought by PEACE interests. It's within this accusation that I would argue how strong and addicted to being #1 in eRepublik we happen to be. I'll leave it at that. You're just a lazy beta giant PTO'ing North Korea and probably think you're hot shit as a result (or because you're a "beta giant").
Go here (http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/longbaugh-for-hawai-i-804260/1/20) to see what I think of beta giants.
In what way has Muljo's temporary service overseas in the eUS Airborne Division meant that he has abandoned his constituents? You seem to be making trouble for the sake of it.
I applaud Muljo for his dedication to the military. My only problem with it is the timing of it, since when he left the country he automatically is removed from Congress, leaving his Congressional seat vacant for the remainder of this term.
@ Gertrude Groan
When you leave the country you lose your seat. Now, do I have to explain THAT too?
Not to me you don't because I already know it, but isn't it worth pointing out to the people who don't know?
@ Gertrude Sloan
Question: "In what way has Muljo's temporary service overseas in the eUS Airborne Division meant that he has abandoned his constituents?"
Answer: He loses his seat when he leaves the country.
Clearly you didn't know. Your inference that Muljo's service is "temporary" also proves that you in fact DIDN'T know.
As far as explaining it to others who don't know... it didn't even cross my mind. Do I also have to explain what a MPP is to people who don't know? Or how about the CBO... do I have to explain that too? Maybe there are some high school sophomores on eRepublik who don't know what the Czech Republic is (considering our educational system, it's a possibility)... should I explain it to them?
Talk about a useless point. You're trying to deflect your lack of understanding by claiming I should have clarified it for the two-clickers. It's a very weak and modest attempt at political deflection and it's shameful.
As for Muljo, his former party should be twice as angry as I am. I'm sure there are many others who are stronger than 8.26, ranked higher than colonel, and don't hold one of our 51 seats who could have gone to Turkey in his stead.
I'm not PTOing NK. I'm playing there as a congressman and wander on the offgame forum... But yeh, I'm clearly stealing the country from those poor IRL North Korean who'll lose their country because of me.
And, if you're angry at those "beta giants" because they're in the governement, and not you, then, go on, make a party, be president, and ruin the country by making the same mistakes we did one year ago. Good idea, we should let the noobs rule and ruin the New World, that'd be fantastic.
Wow. Wall of text. Nice one, LB.
tl;dr
****(no - bad Kirill)****
And I'm not PTO-ing NK, I'm helping the guys that joined to develop the country. It's not like real-life NK would join.
Plus, the taxes on grain and iron are there for a reason : these are the only resources we have in NK.
Saw "god" somewhere, so yeh, I'm one. Deal with it.
@ Kirill Nowakowski
"You're a faget. And a noob, all at the same time.
Face it."
Hahaha! For a beta giant you sure do CRUMBLE easily and you absolutely suck at making or proving your point. With people like you, I'm sure North Korea will THRIVE *cough*cough*
Also, you spelled faggot wrong. Maybe you can get some spelling help when school starts up again in August. I'd look into it. I'd also try and join the debate club if I were you because at least when you break down on stage and call someone a "faggot" no one will be able to tell you spelled it wrong in your head.
Oh, and remember Kirill... you came to MY newspaper, you little puffer fish.
@Kirill - and you've just earned some nice FPs.
Kirill..
..you got PWNED my friend. Nice on Longbaugh, keep up the awesome representation 🙂
Hilarious!
Longbaugh, you obviously have no clue what is going on in NK as far as PTO's go. City Party is responsible for almost all of the investments in North Korea company wise and pays fair wages to all it's employee's.
City Party is no PTO, because they aren't looting NK. The only PTO we had to worry about was a Brazil + Hungary PTO in the COngressional elections, that we beat. Quit accusing the wrong people of PTO's There are no Juche Box followers here, they've stayed in China, despite the fact that they were directly responsible for the admins making NK
Say what you will about beta-giants but as far as PTO's those are the facrs
Holy cow, Longbaugh, you're a beast. Good work for voicing what so many of us think.
And kudos for providing reasoning for your votes, and even admitting to a freshman mistake. A good example for all.
@ TheReverendSeanV
Looting may be a part of some PTOs, but it is not a part of all of them. A PTO is a party takeover. So... when a political party strong-arms, or TAKES OVER a government... it's called... a...
PTO! Right!
When you said, "and pays fair wages to all it's employee's" I have to wonder what the hell a political party is doing regulating job markets and wages. It should be the President and Congress' job to do that. However, if they're all just doing what the party wants then... guess what?
It's a PTO! You got it!
Why are you so angry, and why do you have such a chip on your shoulder? Having a blanket hatred of beta giants is absurd, and you aren't making a good name for yourself.
Congratulations on your ability to buy beer, that means that you are 21. Does that make you a beta giant, and better than others in real life that aren't 21? Lots of us can buy beer, son.
Bottom line: chill out. This is a game. If you continue to be an ass perhaps I'll just PTO your congressional seat just for the hell of it.
" If you continue to be an ass perhaps I'll just PTO your congressional seat just for the hell of it. "
*cough* arrogance *cough*
You're using a very liberl definition of PTO, yes it is a "TO" I guess. Except that the majority of citizens who live there united under that party to thwart Hugarian PTO. I don't consider that, as long as they don't intend to do harm to the sovereignty of said nation a PTO. Especially considering that there are no RL North Koreans playing.
Just because it's a new nation dosen't make it a PTO, by your definition any group of people who organize themselves, but in a new country is a PTO.
And regulating job markets is a stretch as well. The practice of a party having it's well off members helping it's jobless members out isn't a very radical practice, that is done in the US as well. The party dosen't own companies and enforce it's will on anyone, they band together because we had 150+ Hungarians who were damaging our economy and threatening to rob the treasury.
The banded together companies, along with City Party leader Drago helped organize boycotts of sweatshop companies and manufacturing companies that imported foreign rather than helping out the fledgling domestic resources companies.
Your definition of a PTO is very self-serving to insult Kirill.
@ Dubi
What chip do I have on my shoulder? I haven't been going into other people's newspapers and telling THEM how it is. This has all been entirely relegated to my paper and mine alone. You threaten to PTO my congressional seat? Excuse me while I change my underwear. Get over YOUR self, huh?
@ TheReverendSeanV
You make good points. However, your defense of what is essentially a single-party state is dubious. Philosophies regarding a government "guiding" a young nation to future success in RL (like Cuba, for example) only end in stagnation, if not in complete failure. The same thing happened here on eRepublik with Pakistan and then Switzerland.
I remember what Parrot did to South Korea under the guise of a "positive PTO."
Congratulations though; as a "noob" you've presented far better arguments than all the higher-ranking responses I've received. Which more or less serves at least a portion of my point.
Democracy will restore itself and level out once the danger is gone I'm pretty sure, but your eHistorical references are food for thought. 😃
