Announcement of the Hungarian Congress about the Polish Peace Proposal

The Polish Peace Proposal arrived before the Hungarian Congress on the evening of 11th May 2010. The congress did not recieve any notice or information beforehand about the discussons between the two countries, moreover there was no official elaborated project regarding the assumptions and consequences of the peace at the time of the proposal or ever since then.

Right before the Polish peace proposal an awkward situation occured around the Hungarian President's peace proposal to the USA. Neither the details nor the circumstances of this decision were published and the USA government used this event as harmful propaganda against Hungary. After this event the Hungarian congress decided yesterday not to give a blank cheque to the Hungarian President, Kolozs in such significant decisions and is only willing to sign a peace treaty if it is declared unambiguously by both sides and the details, reasons, circumstances of the agreement and all other factors which are not cleared now are made public.

However the Hungarian public and the Congress also would like to improve the relations with Poland, but due to the above mentioned reasons the Hungarian Congress decided to reject the peace proposal and calls upon both the Hungarian and the Polish Government to make the details of the agreement public to create clear atmosphere around such kind of important diplomatic actions.

In the name of the Hungarian Congress
