[MoFA] Statement on Alliances

Voor zij die niet op de hoogte zijn, volgens de eRepublik wiki, ''Een alliantie is een groep van landen die een militair bondgenootschap hebben gesloten om elkaar bescherming te bieden. Zij hebben meestal handelsverdragen en een buitenlandse politiek aangepast aan hun militaire verdragen, maar dat is niet altijd het geval.''
In dit artikel zullen we drie dingen toelichten met betrekking tot allianties. Deze regering is van mening dat het belangrijk is dat de burgers van ons land betrokken zijn bij zo veel mogelijke nationale zaken, maar één van de belangrijkste om bij betrokken te zijn is wanneer er moet worden besloten tot welke alliantie ons land zal toetreden. Ten eerste zullen we praten over de overzichten van de allianties die wij recentelijk hebben gepubliceerd en waarom wij dit hebben gedaan. Ten tweede zullen we praten over wat de volgende stappen zijn voor ons land met betrekken tot allianties. Ten slotte zullen wij de positie van de regering en de preferentie om tot de Aurora alliantie toe te treden toelichten.
Om te beginnen heeft het Ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken gedurende de afgelopen weken verschillende artikelen gepubliceerd welke een overzicht geven van de verscheidende allianties in de eWereld, waaronder de Aurora, Sirius, en Asteria allianties. Wij verzoeken je deze te lezen, mits je dat nog niet gedaan hebt. Wij achten het van het grootste belang om objectief te communiceren met de community over elk van deze allianties, hun oprichting en al het andere relevante om de bevolking beter te informeren en zo de burgers de mogelijkheid geven om een weloverwogen beslissing nemen over de toekomst van eNederland.
The regering wil nu beginnen met een nationale discussie op onze nationale forum over de positie van de regering, maar ook de mogelijkheid geven burgers hun eigen perspectief kunnen uiten op de zaak. Nadat deze discussie is gevoerd, willen wij vooruitstreven en het Congres aanmoedigen om een forum referendum op te zetten om precies uit te kunnen maken wat de mensen van eNederland precies willen, om vervolgens te handelen naar de eventuele uitkomst.
De AriesPrime regering prefereert toetreding tot Aurora over Sirius of Asteria. De regering is van mening dat dit de beste keuze is en ook het beste past bij eNederland. Er zijn verschillende redenen waarom. Ten eerste is Aurora over het algemeen meer open om te praten met kleine eNaties zoals de onze in vergelijking met andere allianties. Dit maakt het voor ons mogelijk om op z'n minst een klein beetje invloed uit te oefenen, bijvoorbeeld door het bezetten van posities in het Alliantie Hoofdkwartier van Aurora. Mits mij lid zouden proberen te worden van Sirius of Asteria is de kans groot dat wij al snel naar een minderwaardige en inferieure positie worden gedelegeerd. Als wij kijken naar geopolitieke motieven, dan levert toetreding tot Aurora ons een toekomst met een stabiele buitenlandse politiek.
Wij hebben hard gewerkt om de relaties met ePolen te verbeteren en om ons zelf neer te zetten als diplomatieke partners dan als vijanden. Als een lid van Aurora, een alliantie gelieerd aan Sirius, kunnen wij dit werk voortzetten en verdere samenwerking leveren als partners. Dit zal niet kunnen gaan als wij lid worden van Asteria. De meerderheid van de nabijgelegen landen, welke zeker de mogelijkheid hebben ons van de kaart te verwijderen, zijn Sirius of pro-Sirius leden. Het zou simpel gezegd onverstandig zijn om tot een alliantie toe te treden welke de meeste van onze buurlanden als vijand zien. En, daarnaast, het zou inconsequenties in onze buitenlandse politiek opleveren, waar het niet nodig is. Het wisselen van diplomatieke kanten eens in de zoveel maanden laat een land onstabiel lijken.
Een andere reden om lid te worden van Aurora is om toenadering te zoeken tot nieuwe, sterke bondgenoten en om relaties aan te gaan en te versterken met nieuwe bondgenoten, maar ook met bondgenoten van het verleden, landen zoals eIerland, eDuitsland, eChili en eBulgarije. Gebaseerd op de genoemde redenen is de overheid van mening dat Aurora de beste alliantie is voor eNederland en wil zo snel mogelijk stappen ondernemen om lid te worden van de Aurora alliantie.

For those who may be unaware, according to the eRepublik wiki, “An alliance is a group of countries who have formed a military alliance with each other to offer each other protection. They usually have unique trade agreements and foreign policies to go alongside their military agreements, but this is not always the case.”
In this article we will be addressing three things in particular regarding alliances. This government believes it is important for the citizens of our country to be involved in many national decisions but clearly one of the most important for citizens to be involved is when it comes to determining which alliance they would like to join. Firstly, we will talk about the alliance overviews we have published recently and why this was done. Secondly, we will talk about what will be happening next for our country in regards to the alliance issue. And lastly, we will discuss this government’s position and preference to join the Aurora Alliance.
To begin, over the past couple of weeks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released several articles giving an overview of the various alliances in the eWorld, including Aurora, Sirius, and Asteria alliances. Please read this if you have not done so as of yet. We feel it was extremely important to objectively communicate with the community about each of these alliances, their creation, and to provide any information necessary to better inform the public so as to allow the citizens of this eNation to be able to properly determine the destiny of the eNetherlands for themselves.
The government would now like to proceed with beginning a nationwide discussion on the national forums to talk about the government’s position as well as to have a place where citizens can offer their own perspectives about this issue. After this discussion has been had, we would like to move forward to encourage the Congress to initiate and conduct an on-forum referendum to determine what the people of the eNetherlands want exactly and then prepare to act on this accordingly.
The AriesPrime government prefers joining Aurora over either Sirius or Asteria. The government believes this would be the best choice and the best fit for the eNetherlands overall. There are several reasons as to why this is. Firstly, Aurora is generally more open to taking in smaller eNations like ours when compared to the other alliances. This allows us to likely be able to at least have some control in something like Aurora, like possible positions within the Aurora Alliance Headquarters. If we were to try to join Sirius or Asteria we would very likely be dismissed and relegated to a more inferior position within the alliance. Geopolitically-speaking, joining Aurora also provides a stable foreign policy direction for our country.
We have worked hard to try to improve relations with ePoland and to be seen as diplomatic partners rather than enemies. As a member of Aurora, an alliance that works alongside Sirius, we can continue to work on our relationship and work together as partners. This cannot happen if we were to join Asteria. The vast majority of our immediate neighbours, who certainly have the ability to wipe us, are Sirius/pro-Sirius members. It simply would be unwise to join an alliance that most of our neighbours view as the enemy. And, on top of that, it would be yet another change in our foreign policy direction which simply is not needed. Flipping back and forth every few months makes countries seem unstable.
Another reason to join Aurora would be to branch out with new, strong allies and to build and strengthen ties with new allies and even allies we have had relations with in the past including countries like eIreland, eGermany, eChile, and eBulgaria. Based on just these reasons listed, the government feels Aurora is the best alliance for the eNetherlands and would like to progress towards becoming a member of the Aurora Alliance soon.

But in LETO we got nothing to say. In Aurora we will have a voice (how large that may be)

Seeing LETO is the little sister alliance of Asteria it seems reasonable to assume that Asteria HQ has a lot to say what happens in LETO

LETO is basically just being a puppet of eSerbia and, again, would very likely result in us being wiped and ruining any chance of building relations with countries that neighbour us.
And Aurora is basiccally a puppet of ePoland, the very same Poland that doesn't honor the treaty we have with them. 😛

and the others are any better?
Australia: Know your place.
Basically all big alliances build on the same principles. For small countries it is often a question of who wants your regions. The logical thing to do is to get allied with the guys who don't want your bonuses. The alternative is to build a complicated system of coexistence and call it friendship.
The way the game is built, its just a bunch of big countries playing the game and more smaller countries kissing their asses. Friendship is never the correct word, damagehood and dependencies are.
