[eNL] The Responsibilities of the Next President

Day 3,939, 05:55 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by NoTie112
Dear citizens of the eNetherlands,

In the middle of all the media activity the Country Presidential Elections are nearing - and currently it looks like a race between old-time favourite Odan and new-comer MDSanderon. I considered running myself as well - but the monthly race between Odan and NoTie is getting old. Besides that, I enjoy my current position as a citizen and helping out on a bottom-up manner way more. A lot less frustrating 😉.

While we my personal preferences for President are well-known, whoever is elected will have several responsibilities. Some that have sadly been neglected over the past few months. It may be surprising to hear that being Country President is a responsibility at all - but it still is. As opposed to managers picking up the shiny medal and disappearing out of the community for a month (while 1-2 people actually do sh*t behind the scenes), we need a Country President that is honoured to run the country and act in the interest of its citizens - even in the current times of low activity. We need a Country President that is inspired and directs a group of people that are not chronically depressed but still find joy in serving the eNetherlands.

And there are several responsibilities that dearly need to be addressed - which I hope the different candidates do (but hope is futile). We've seen Odan posting his article and it's not all that inspiring. Where is the vision, or even a description of what the Government is going to do besides guarding.. what exactly? MDSanderon has just announced his candidacy and an article(s) has not been posted yet - but I hope it will promise us an alternative.

Despite our dying population (from 150 citizens collapsing into the 130s) there have been some flames in the society that can't be smothered by an uninspiring and Status Quo™ regime. We've recently been granted 60.000 CC a month on top our budget thanks to a rental deal with Iran. That money needs a purpose and not gather dust. There have been interesting discussions about introducing subsidies for Housing and Air Warfare & even the discussions about reforming our Laws are slowly proceeding to an end-phase - but all that will be in vain if everything stays the same and there's no ambition at all.

Our shrinking population needs to be addressed. I don't care if any plans to stop it don't work; just acknowledge it and do everything in your power to slow it down - instead, as one of the candidates did, jokingly imply that my multies died when I posted a warning about it on the national feed. As the three ways to gather citizens (immigration, waking up old players and inviting foreigners) are nigh impossible I don't blame anyone for not succeed; but blame for not trying. I have on numerous occasions brought on new players (referral medal as evidenced), invited friendly foreigners and made - as CP - requests to the dreaded forum administration to contact all account of players that died in-game (which they didn't follow upon sadly).

To the next President; You will have a country on your plate that has shown promising activity over the last few weeks. Don't squander it by smothering them with the cloth of silence and the Status Quo™. Our people need a Government that serves them (in-game) and creates an environment where they can thrive in - as opposed to the laissez-faire approach that is slowly killing of the game. The game is boring as it is, but the government as extension of society neglecting its duties in providing for its citizens (don't get me started that we don't even have a supply system for fighters) is unbearable. Act!

Kind Regards,
