[Community Article] Bizarre Truths

Day 2,216, 12:20 Published in Ireland Ireland by Anthony Colby

Hello all. I figured I would try something a little different from history this time. Here are some facts from The Book of Bizarre Truths.

* Three Musketeers candy bars got their name because they used to have three layers: vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Now, the bars only have chocolate.

* A cat sweats through its paws.

* A cell phone in 1984 would have cost you just under $4,000.

* The screwdriver was somehow invented before the screw.

* Belgium once experimented with using cats to deliver mail.

* The human ear has nine muscles, thought they are mostly nonfunctional.

* Reading about yawning is enough to make many people yawn.

* An average male beard would grow 13 feet long over a lifetime if never shaved.

* Female turkeys don't gobble.

* The "dog days of summer" refers to the ancient Roman belief that Sirius, the Dog Star, was closer to Earth from July 3 to August 11, causing unusually high temperatures.

* Dominoes were developed as a game by French monks and named after the first lines of Psalm 110, which in Latin reads Dixit Dominus meo (" said my Lord").

Thanks for reading. Hope you learned something.
