What politics stands for in NL ?
Lord Jale
Yesterday I was bored and had some time to look my friends list.
From my friend list I had find out that 6 members from list(NL citizens) are not members of any military unit. So I invited them to join DAF but I got only one response!
You can see it here:
..........................................................................
As i did not get any more responses I figure out that probably all 6 players are not active and that is way they do not want to join military unit.
So I am fine with that, we can only hope that these players will return playing one day.
And this is all I can say to them:
Now comes part which disappointed me!
I had 43 NL citizens which are not members of any political party. So I try to figure why.
But it looks like they like their comfort more than participating and making decisions for future of NL. Others do not want to get hands dirty with players who do not respect others.
I find it selfish! Every player has something what can improve us as society and every one is obligated to give part of yourself to society.
Here you can see some responses I got :
...........................................................................
...........................................................................
...........................................................................

We should find what is wrong and correct the image of politics in NL.
Also I would like to utilize this article to invite all readers to do the same. Find players which are not socialized from your friend list and invite them in community. We should promise debates without insulting, appreciation of others of thinking and so on.

Joining politics, worst move ever 😉
lier, you like politics 😛
What's even worse: having people in your political party who get angry when they get involved in actual politics. It's nice for the congress seats but i still can't see the point of them joining a party.
Is this the down side of transparency? I don't know. It is really hard to start taking part in politics. The debates are not always simple and if you're not involved in the previous debates about the same subject, it is almost impossible to join in (except if you read all the relevant previous debates). Maybe we, as a political community have to simplify the debates and make sure everything is clear in all debates.
A description of the current situation, the actual debate and the past debates about the same subject or something.
I had similar problems when I was Congress member. At forum I had found few discussions but due my ignorance I was unable to participate. But also I had found few areas where I could post a comment. But I get your point, and I hope someone who edits forum will make it easier for newbies like us.
Did you asked if it was ok to publish these personal messages?
You are right, I did not. That is my mistake for sure. Also I do not see any particular reason why someone would keep his answer away from publishing it in my newspaper when I hardly spoke with this players in past. If they gave this answers to me I consider it as their official attitude towards joining politics. But you are still right, and I should not publish it without asking their permissions. Harm is done and now only what I can do is to mark blind names in editing article.
Thank you for altering the screens.
I should've done it when I was writing article, and thank you for point out that I did it wrong so I could change it in right way.
Is it reasonable to expect everyone to be in politics, though? The eNetherlands already has a ridiculously high participation grade of people in politics/parties, as far as I know.
I thought there was an activity problem. To less people to form a government and congress without double roles.
Yes, but that's not related to the participation grade. That's relevant to the far larger problem of having too few citizens.
Maybe this is a larger problem. If politics is inaccessible for these people, it is certainly for people who will be new players in this game. They will leave.
Spirytus it is easy to get chance in NL politics.
But problem is introduction in politics. If player enter once a Congress than he knows what are his obligations and what is expected from him, same is with government functions. If you ask me I would like that we ˝produce˝ as much players with experience as we can. That way if we for example have 7 different ministers at same position in next 7 months it would be very easy to fulfill empty seat in future. This way no one does not want to join and learn, and same people must sacrifice their free time over and over, but unfortunately if that players stop playing NL would be ruined as country.
NoTie112 if you look from my point of view you will see that I do not try to make 99% of NL population politicians. My goal is socialize, communication and friendship. And NL citizens can do it only if they feel as members of military unit or political party.
My experience tells me ( even if it is shorter than a two months ) that I had become part of NL community when I was elected in Congress.
I had one RL friend here and also I had met few more players at my first days. But when I make resume I know that I made IRC profile and forum profile because many players told me so. My elife started when community give me a chance to become part of it.
So now when I see players with far too much hard worker medals but without MU or party I get impression that players do not feel like they belong to NL community.
So my invitation to player is made to invite them in groups, to make them interact between each other. I know that all players do not want to play main roles but everyone can help our community.
Interesting read. You're asking some important questions and are finding useful answers. I find your neutral questions regarding the political party a great example of objective journalism. By keeping it neutral you make it clear to everyone you're not just trying to recruit players to your own party, and they also reply in a more objective way.
Of course, everyone should decide for themselves whether they want to be involved in politics. But in the end, the people in politics will decide for everyone. And that is definintely also about military aspects, especially if you become important in the ministry of defence.
On the other hand, politics can take up a lot of time, and indeed if debates get intense, not everyone remains nice and polite...
Try to find a party with the same ideology as yourself, so that you can freely discuss with each other, and have fun in the party. Even if you're not active in congress or in the government you can be of great value to your party by letting them know your opinion about different issues.
It sounds like the fights of a bygone era scared many people away. But that is mostly history now, so we should benefit from a more peaceful political climate in the future. Hopefully, that is, unless of course more people stayed because of the fighting than left because of it that is.
By the way I like the article!
Thanks. 😁
the ´im a fighter argument´ I can understand, but it doesn´t really count though, since ´politicians´ tend to determine if and where to fight.
Good article Jale!
"Is this the down side of transparency? " Which transparency????
The transparency is not great, but there is information about what the government is doing and there are debates in which everyone is involved and can read. The downside of this level of transparency is the responsibility of CMs to behave in congress. Mud throwing, arguments against the person himself and betrayel in the form of publishing logs and other things which are published to hurt people personally.
These messages show people don't like politics because of this personal fights.
unfortunatly it almost always seems to finish in these kinds of 'politics' here in eNL. offcourse people get tired of reading it or/and even participating in politics this way
I'm very glad that you Spir Tus are so communicative and ready to bring some changes to better. I really hope we will become close friends and that we will cooperate for a brighter NL future.
Let me quote GEN. DE LA REY : ˝It sounds like the fights of a bygone era scared many people away. But that is mostly history now, so we should benefit from a more peaceful political climate in the future. ˝
This is moto which we should follow in future if we want progress and pleasant environment for NL players.
What happened in past should teach us so we do not repeat same mistakes.
Vlam you are old and respected player, your strength and medals which you earned at various battlefields provide you international significance, so unlike me you are able to use your influence for NL goals. NL community should recognize that and give you a chance.
Tnx for the confidance and the respect given. Allthought I absolutely do not have the ambition nor the time for a serieus political career here on erep, I am interested in the 'better' for our own small community/eNL.
It's good to have several opinion ( thus political movements), but it has no sense to exclude people which have the time and the brains to fullfill certain places in our cabinet/congress just because they don't belong the this or that 'group' We are a very small community so to be great, we WILL have to combine all the forces we have. ( the best times I saw within eNL when they were completly wiped by poland...... all for 1, 1 for all!!!!
A salute from a humble soldier
We are all here for our own reasons and to invest what time we want. By labeling people selfish you'll distant them even more from active politics.
I do not judge players, I judge act of ignoring NL community. All NL players should feel fellowship, we must accomplish that Netherlands is at first place, then comes Political Party and Military unit and at bottom are player as individual. I criticize act of inverted values.
Met honing vang je meer vliegen dan met azijn.
Wonderful article Jale; Im so glad that I ran for Congress when i had the chance. It really makes the game much more entertaining.
I've just come to accept that some players are soldiers.
That being said, mind telling me which players claim that so we can get them into BG? We are the warrior party after all 😉
If all players which told me that they are only soldiers join BG you would be first party by its membership in NL. 😛
Some players are disappointed and only want to be soldiers http://prntscr.com/3zcruf , others are not introduced in our community properly http://prntscr.com/3zcsy8 .
very good. voted for activity!
Joining politics is boring!
I had some time in eUkraine , when i also was no MU and Party member.
People sure are selfish. I think newer people will still get more involved politicly if they wont see tons of dirty fights between politicians. I dont mean `debates` (if you can still call them that way) but less mud throwing around. It is a bitterly funny that eNL have so little players yet the government still fights between eachother like they don't have in mind what is most beneficial for eNL but personal feelings and power struggle counts the most. It certainly is bitterly amusing to watch it when you are not involved politically.
I think some people are put off by the hostility of some of the eDutch politicians towards one another. Doing this whole article war too sometimes and writing misinformation, propaganda and lies on fellow citizens rather than hostile countries. That what you get if you have many diffrent groups with diffrent opinions on `what is best for eNL`.
Overall some people cant be bothered or just dont want to be involved with people that I call "loud mouths" either because they rather keep away from all this drama and fight or because they also don't want to be the target. You suggest one thing and they will just argue for arguments sake. Won't even try to understand the suggestion even when it benefits eNL. Instead it's like, if they have to agree with someone they dislike, they rather die and not lose their insignificant pride. Rather see eNL fall than agree with "enemy". Man, I sound so poetic. 😉
