HAHAHAHAHAHA.... Spying? But anyone can access all newspapers regardless of country . There isn\'t really any covert aspect to warrant such terminology is there?... Surely what you are looking for are multilingual people to serve as translators? 😛
What about accessing the regional forums? Does that require residency? What about working in that area so you have a really good idea of the state of a few countries?
What about becoming a commander in their reserves system, then, not activating your unit (or providing misdirection) when we invade....
\"Does that require residency?\" No. I don\'t believe many forums bar citizens from wrong countries from registering. Besides, many are completely open and you need not bother being anything other than an anonymous guest.
\"Working?\" I don\'t believe that counts for much if you refer to the collection of some measly amount of local currency. Instead, finding out about a locale is through communication. And such is possible without going anywhere or working. Furthermore, it would seem that most places would quite gladly tell you what you want regardless if you spying. Much of it is rubbish after all hehe.
\"becoming a commander...\" Strictly speaking, that\'s not spying/espionage. Even so, such a position does not really have quite as much worth as in real life. Hierarchies are almost nothing compared the to autonomy of individuals here. Furthermore, if you are in a region with much activity, it\'s likely there are many others able to counter your actions. Ultimately all are free to act as they wish (Then again people are stupid so you never know XD). In an inactive region, any military action (if even present). is likely to be loosely coordinated and is really everyone for themselves.
Then again, I have not been in any battles so what would i know? Creativity is key... and people are stupid. BUT I would guess that sabotage is better achieved outside covert actions... like messing with the hilarious in game economy.
In any case this is just me with too much time on my hands! You are more than welcome to disagree. 😃
Laurana: I would choose to disagree, but like yourself, I have not been in many battles. Ok - I havn\'t been in any - I\'ve volunteered for the reserves though.. then I\'ll become a sargent then the commander of the reserves, then you vill vind zat i vork for ze germanz.
Ahem. Playing around with other countries economies is *not* something that I would agree with doing, but as a military strategy, is possibly very effective - if you can disrupt their food enough in advance, then wellness factors will come into play - if your opponents are not well organised and have a bad government, then it could be very handy.
However the side effect of such meddling would impact the civilian population to a very high extent. I do not suggest such tactics should ever be used by our government, but I do suggest we be on guard for anyone using tactics against us (which I think the DoW does keep watch for companies acting dangerously). I suppose actually, you don\'t even need governments to do this - anyone with enough gold could do a lot of damage to a country that they decide to take offence to.
Also, I think the reporting tools on the economy arn\'t that great - numbers don\'t add up in the accounting histories \"and things\". Not great for spotting a long term deep-cover attempt to destabalise an economy.
Dont you want someone to...
@ jejt: Like i said... hilarious! Hehehe But yes... in this game businessmen can have massive power through multiple SOs. And that military actions do not affect civilians here is nice but unrealistic; it also removes yet another reason not to war. I personally hope that this game\'s economic aspect becomes as good as EVE Online\'s is supposed to be.
@ BlackHope: Want someone to what? Who are you referring to anyway?
