Sol Wargames and Australia

I understand your frustration at seeing the Sabah battle commence again today, still after Argentina was attacked by Australia. We have read the frustrated posts on our boards, and there are certain things that certainly need to be discussed.

1. I know this has been said enough times, and I feel like I am beating a dead horse at this point, but the Sol Wargames, despite their commonly-used name, are not controlled by the Sol alliance. We use the same boards, name, nations, etc., but it is not an arm of the Sol Alliance. In fact it's actual name is the Southeast Asian War Games, which was coined when it was created last August. The decision to start the games lies solely in the Philippine and Malaysian governments, though they often heed the call of the alliance heads if deemed necessary.

2. There are many, many participants in the games. There are 29 active MPPs in the war against Malaysia, and a vast number of those countries are unaffiliated with the current conflict. Nations such as Paraguay, Ireland, Colombia, Finland, India, and Croatia, for example, all rely on the games for steady training, and many small countries pay a very large portion of their budget to assure timely games. We have stopped the games on several occasions; notably during the first Brazil attack on Australia, Indo attacks on Malaysia, and attacks on the Philippines, which often have to do with game mechanics. Each time, we often suffer under the pressure of so many participants being frustrated at any delay or cancellation. It is regrettable, but the games are a business, and the Philippine and Malaysian governments must try to supply all its customers with what they want, and because of the nature of the product, it is very hard to do so.

3. While the attack on Argentina is very important (of that we have no doubt), so much so that we urge every nation of Sol (and those not in Sol) to send troops to Western Australia, Australia is one nation of 30 involved in the games. We support Australia and South Africa with what we can reasonably give, but remember that the vast majority of our population are immobile congressmen, and a good portion of all of us face Serbian PTOers as well, as of late, making it difficult to simply drop everything.

With that said, I apologize on behalf of the Philippines and Malaysia for this necessary evil, and whether Australia continues or disbands its formal relationship in Sol based on this, we will continue to fight for South Africa and Australia in any future engagements. Much like we work with India to ensure its defense without any formal agreement, our goodwill towards Australia is not marred by this frustration. We understand you, but please understand us as well.
