[WYD] Introducing the WGC Mighty Pens (Day 1779)

Day 1,779, 09:22 Published in Canada Canada by Addy Lawrence

Foreward

In my return to eCan article I made reference to two projects that I wanted to get started on, I also intimated that one was an MU related project. This is the beginning of the MU Project.

Introducing eCan's newest Military Unit...

...and an MU like no other, the WGC Mighty Pens.

The pen is truly mightier than the sword and this MU, operating in the spirit of the Writer’s Guild of Canada (WGC) is going to promote quality journalism, media content, and game content.

WGC Mighty Pens will be a tangible, in-game place for people who choose to identify with the Writer’s Guild of Canada. It is not intended to be an exclusive and defacto home to the Writer’s Guild of Canada nor speak for the Writer’s Guild of Canada, but it is intended to be an expression of support for the Writer's Guild of Canada.

Members of the MU are expected to behave in a manner consistent with the Guild. First and foremost, each member will be expected to participate in the self-regulation of the group. Worthy articles are expected to be supported with votes and comments. Weak articles are expected to be held to account in tactful ways consistent with the “weakness”. Members will be encouraged to produce WGC worthy content as well.

In this game environment, if it is not a game mechanic, it is very difficult to hold anyone accountable. An MU permits limited accountability by the Commander but the more relevant and primary source of accountability will be acting with integrity in the self-regulation process. WGC Mighty Pens aims to set a standard for that type of behaviour.

WGC Mighty Pens is not seeking MU funding.

WGC Mighty Pens does not require the use of an avatar or border.

WGC Mighty Pens requires its members to respect the WGC tag in articles.

WGC Mighty Pens endorses MU members having "phantom members" in other MU’s, something that I personally hope COI will permit me to do.

WGC Mighty Pens recognizes and supports WGC members that practice their craft, regardless of whether or not they are members of the MU.

WGC Mighty Pens will have Daily Orders aligned with eCan's National Battle Orders and priorities.

I’ve always respected WGC and what it stands for. WGC enriches the game culture. With strong content, players are better informed and better entertained. My hope is that this MU grows this part of the game and makes eCan more attractive to new and existing players.

I invite you to consider joining WGC Mighty Pens, or more importantly, enrich eCan culture by contributing quality content to the game.

Denouement

I don't expect this to go over 100% smoothly, there will be people disrespectful of the Guild who join the MU. There will be members of the Guild saying that this MU betrays the apolitical spirit the Guild. There is merit to these claims. When I take a step back, the good outweighs the bad and I see this a net gain for eCanada.
