[WTP]~ What really happened in the Primaries.
Hale26
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
~Martin Luther King, Jr.
Today I had a WTP newsletter-article in mind. Talk about Operation Rainbow Doc, FTW, Debate club...etc. Seeing as my article count has been lacking, that would've been a welcome thing. But, there's something that I must be cleared up.
Over the course of today, there has been a shadow cast over WTP's Primary. Some say I rigged the times, others that I've rigged the whole election in Ten's favor. Their point is that they think I've cast a shadow over this election; That the results were not legit.
My point is that those people are wrong. Before we get into anything serious, I will openly admit that I did mess up the election times. But to say this election was a sham is wrong.
Today is not a day for rambling paragraphs, so I've broken down exactly what happen over the past few days into a 12 point explanation. This is so far the most accurate way to get what happened across, so I'm urging all of you to read it.
1. Paul was under the impression that the voting was for 48 hours. I don't explicitly remember stating that, but that's what he knew, and what I most likely told him.
2. The party was told that the vote would go on from the 30th-2nd. Using Cali time, it would end at 9pm. Our time (EST), 12:01 AM.
3. All times were in Erep time, PST.
4. We forgot about the 31st.
5. I shrugged this off when the 31st rolled in. It frankly did not matter to me. I just wanted to get the votes in. Time duration didn't matter; The party knew how long we had
6. Cromstar PMed me. We talked, and I told him we were closing our election at 21:01 Erep time. He told me that that means myself, Bigc and Othere only had 3 hours to get our noms in.
7. I have school tomorrow, and we've already had awhile to vote. So, I said I'll close the vote early. Not to mention that fact that the logistics of getting all 3 of us to do our noms in 3 hours would be difficult.
8. Paul comes to me in the morning asking about why the poll is still open. I told him, then realized that he thought they ended last night.
9. I send a Newsletter out to the party saying they have till 15:00 Erep time to vote. I gave my reasons, got some well deserved flak, but that was about it.
10. The additional time from when the message was sent and when the polls closed was a grace period, to clarify. It's unfair to just go around closing polls without telling anyone.
11. Paul and a few other people in Fed party chat start getting asking questions, apparently say I closed and reopened the polls, asking me fair questions, not so fair questions...etc.
12. I apologize that I misinformed everyone outside of WTP.
As you can see, this was miscommunication between WTP Leadership and...well...everyone else. That, I apologize for. While the other parties did not elect me, and I do not represent them, it's a courtesy to let them know what is going on. Not letting them know wasn't cool.
It is undoubtable that reforms to Unity are needed. Over the past few days, the T4 PPs have been talking about populizing the system of Unity. I personally welcome this discussion, because really, this is about votes; Not Parties.
However, Unity stands as it stands. While I do apologize for my mistake, Tenshibo still won 1 more vote than Paul Proteus. Tenshibo is the Unity Candidate. And while it may seem tempting to deviate from the path Unity has given us at this time, breaking Unity is not something we should do.
WTP's first PP, John Jay, went through a scenario much like this. He felt lied, cheated and betrayed by Unity. Hell, he almost went full on rogue, risked the party's name and his own to prove a point about Unity. As some of you still remember, he threatened to do this with an unfliching resolve.
Despite all of this, when Jay found his point was unprovable, he stayed in Unity. That is because, at the end of the day, John Jay was about Nation>Self. It would be childish to say that anyone is going to go rogue over this, but I just thought this is something some of whom I've offended should mull over. I've done something wrong, but two wrongs don't make a right.
In short, I apologize for all that transpired wrongly and hope my account of what happened makes sense to everyone. If anyone has any question, feel free to ask in the comments. Likewise, if anyone has any anger towards me, feel free to voice that in the comments too.
Just try to remember what's important, eAmerica.
G'night

I wish you guys didn't have PTO, because your politics are extremely boring. Just a bunch of safe, old players, who won't make hard or interesting choices for fear of breaking "unity"

Well its good to know my one vote counted. 🙂
Hale you are only human mate. Stuff happens.
Much respect for admitting your failure so admirably.
^.^
As someone who has been involved in political mistakes before, I know what you're going through. Good luck, I'm certain you guys will pull through.
John Jay, the punk who cost me my CP win.
January was mine. Even Pfeiffer knew it. I still remember them flipping out about it.
And yet you still don't have a CP medal on your profile, now do ya? Obviously wasn't your month.
Future 6th party FTW?
I don't understand the issue. The Feds were pissed off that you closed the vote a few hours early? Were they planning on sniping our primary or something?
I thought there was a whitelist and sniping could not happen?
My guess is that the primary would have gone in Paul's favor at that time (I didn't track their results at all). Had that happened, we would have gone to 6th parties and that might have influenced the whole system.
So the butthurt is based entirely on conjecture, and conjecture that if your first conjecture was right then you'd have 6th support.
Only if my guess is right. I have no way of knowing the primary reason behind most of the feelings with 100% certainty.
Help me out, I'm a 6th and don't follow epolitics all that closely. If Tenshibo won 4/5 noms, what difference did Hale's date errors etc make in terms of the overall outcome? Even if Paul ended up winning the WTP primary, wouldn't it still be 3/5 noms?
Tenshibo didn't win four out of five noms, 6th parties were slow, but last I heard from Rainy they went for me. Being said, Tenshibo won 3/5 noms, including WTP, which is the majority so I don't see a point in discussing this. On the 5th, vote Tenshibo
Thx very much for the reply Paul.
Re the 4/5, I was just going by what Hale26 said in the article. I've no dog in this fight and appreciate that your take is different than his, and from my end all I can say is it's hard for some ppl to know what to believe when two respected citizens present contradictory claims.
So like we both said above: 3/5 or 4/5, it's Tenshibo either way. Classy of you to endorse your opponent. o7
I was aware that for the countable time it was Ten that won the 6ths. I've edited the article to fix the mistake. Thanks Paul.
If I remember correctly, and correct me if I'm not, JJ was nowhere to be found until shortly before reset and the other candidate almost stepped down because of it. Not a great example if you ask me.
