[WRP] - A view from Parliament - Issue 41

Day 2,447, 11:29 Published in United Kingdom Australia by Huey George

Introduction

A great achievement for the Workers' Rights Party. Congratulations to all our newly elected Members of Congress.

A massive thank you to all who supported the Workers' Rights Party as we achieved a historic ten seats in Congress(Parliament). I'd also like to extend my congratulations to all other citzens who retained or secured a seat in Congress(Parliament).

On to my routine Congressional article series 'A view from Parliament' to provide you my constituents an opportunity to review how I've spent my time representing you in Congress

Law Proposals

VAT & Import Taxes: Food

Value added tax (VAT) remains unchanged at 1%
Import tax increases from 1% to 4%

I voted No. As there was no justification put forward in support of this proposal.

The vote ended;
2 YES votes to 33 NO votes

Work Tax

The Work Tax will be changed from 2% to 8%

I voted No.Once again as there was no justification put forward in support of this proposal and I personally feel it'd be unreasonable to set Work Tax at this level.

The vote ended;
1 YES votes to 35 NO votes

MPP
President of United Kingdom proposed a mutual protection pact with USA

I voted Yes. A very strong and loyal ally to have.

The vote ended;
27 YES votes to 1 NO votes in the UK
43 YES vote to 6 NO votes in the USA

VAT & Import Taxes: Weapons

Value added tax (VAT) increases from 1% to 2%
Import tax remains unchanged at 8%

I voted No. Although generally in favour for an increase in VAT on weapons with a clear plan on how to spend the extra revenue. On this occasion I felt this plan wasn't presented. Overall I believe for Congress to consider voting in favor of an increase in VAT for weapons ourselves alongside the CP and his cabinet would need a longer discussion period and wider consensus on the benefits of taking this extra revenue through tax.

The vote ended;
4 YES votes to 26 NO votes

MPP
President of Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) proposed a mutual protection pact with United Kingdom

I voted Yes. A useful ally to have.

The vote stands as of Day 2,447 - 11:27;
23 YES votes to 3 NO votes in the UK
28 YES vote to 2 NO votes in Republic of Macedonia (FYROM)

MPP
President of Croatia proposed a mutual protection pact with United Kingdom

I voted Yes. A fellow Sirius member who we are in a pact with for mutual protection, mutual advantage and mutual gain.

The vote stands as of Day 2,447 - 11:27;
19 YES votes to 3 NO votes in the UK
20 YES vote to 2 NO votes in Croatia

Closing thoughts

Once again I will encourage comment however please let's encourage respect in public dialogue to set a positive example that elevates the quality of politics in our country. This should enable a more intelligent dialogue on public issues to attract all citizens to take part. So I ask you to bear this in mind with your own contributions.

I also call for all Members of Congress to please consider being communicative via the media module, something I feel is important to increasing the population of the eUK. As an active media creates a well informed, content public, which works together with government strategies domestic or foreign and increases the citizenry's trust in their government.

So far I've seen;
Mitzuno's First days as a Congress member
Aultman's How I voted on the Work Tax increase. and I Got Something To Say
Charles Moncrieff's Updates from a High Congressman
and from the Speaker of the House Rob the Bruce's [Speaker] I think I speak for all of us....
Let me know if I've missed any.
