Around the World in 60 Seconds : Day 1,548

Day 1,548, 13:38 Published in Canada Albania by Roger Griswald

It has been over a year since I stopped publishing my article series Around the eWorld in 60 Seconds. Having received a lot of requests to start it back up from former readers and friends I have decided to get the paper up and running again under its original publication name Getty Rabble Basic Press. I hope that it helps players stay connected and informed of the goings-on in the eWorld. Without further ado, I present the most recent article for you enjoyment:

Todays highlights:
- Colonizers on the move; some surprising eNations top the list for most occupied regions.
- eHungary in over its head as EDEN wipes the Eastern European powerhouse.
- eUnited Kingdom may get some help from its allies in a bid to get out from a six week occupation.
- eSpain is down, but certainly not out.

Quote of the Day: “the Croatian congress has decided for Croatia to leave EDEN and seek its fortune elsewhere” – Zdlemmy (posted in the EDEN chatroom on IRC to troll eBulgarians)

A Few Colonizers Dominate the eWorld

In the ongoing bid for region and resource dominance some eNations are finding a great deal of success, though it may surprise many citizen to know that no European eNations currently hold all economic resources. In fact only three eNations currently have all ten of the economic resources and those three have carved out the resources by dominating their respective regions; China (Asia-Pacific), USA (North America and the Iberian Peninsula), and Brazil (South America and Sub-Saharan Africa).

However beyond economic success one should also value military dominance and currently one eNation is clearly leading the pack in terms of their expansion beyond their own borders. eTurkey has seen great success in the last three months in dominating the Near East. With 9 of the 10 economic resources within their empire and a staggering 25 occupied regions (beyond their 7 native regions) including all of eIran and regions in eSaudi Arabia, eUAE, and ePakistan under their control, eTurkey is sustaining its military success and clearly dominating their region and will likely continue to do so for some time as long as they maintain their affinity to EDEN (whose member bordering most of eTurkey’s regions).

Beyond the dominating influence of eChina in Asia, it is worth noting the recent success of the eRepublic of China(Taiwan) who has expanded from its four native regions to completely occupy eSouth Korea and eJapan, adding17 regions and five resources to their own. While they are likely to not expand further (as doing so would bean attacking eChina, eUSA or eRussia), they will most certainly continue to control their Northern Neighbors and maintain their place as the second most successful occupiers in the eWorld today (tied with eBrazil at 17 occupied regions).

eHungary Struggles to Regain its Regions

The most recent in a series of battles for dominance in Eastern Europe saw eHungay completely wiped earlier this week by eCroatia and eRomania. The ONE alliance heavyweight and long time powerhouse called in the support of eSerbia to aid them in their struggle. While Serbia did help get eHungary back on the map, this battle is far from over, with eCroatia shifting its focus towards eSerbia and successfully capturing the region of Vojvodina, which provides eSerbia with a border to the native eHungary regions.

As eSerbia is attempting to move against eRomania, eCroatia will be hitting eSerbia’s native regions, including their most populated regions, in the next few days. The major question most analysts are asking is if eBulgaria will formerly enter the battle breaking their existing Non-Agression Pact; should this happen eSerbia would likely be overwhelmed and face occupation.

eUnited Kingdom Tries Once More to Gain the Help of its Allies

For nearly six weeks the eUnited Kingdom has been occupied by eCanada, eIreland and eFrance. Throughout this period the long time ONE supporter and former Pheonix alliance member has called for support form their allies in pushing their occupiers out. It had appeared that after weeks of waiting their allies were finally willing to spare some soldiers to aid in the resistance effort being fought on the British Isles, however with the campaigns waging in eHungary and eSerbia taking centre stage, the eUK lost the pledge of support and found itself without aid once more, quickly loosing the minor gains they had secured earlier in the week and once more being completely wiped off the map.

The weeks without support have caused many eUK citizens to begin pressuring their government to rethink their alliances. In response, the government issued a statement clarifying that they have no intention of leaving ONE and that they would not be welcome in Terra/Eden due to ongoing conflicts with the countries in both alliances.

Without a major global power shift, or moving to join another alliance, the eUK will likely remain occupied with little chance of getting back on their feet unless their occupiers willfully withdraw.

eSpain Fights for its Native Regions

For months, eSpain has been entangled in a back and forth dance with Terra alliance heavyweights eUSA and eBrazil. eSpain who joined with ePoland to betray their old allies by leaving EDEN and forming ONE, has been engaged in a war with Terra and EDEN ever since and most recently it appears the eSpain is loosing. After being completely wiped this week, they managed to regain a single region yesterday, but will likely loose the region of Asturias once more before the weeks end.

A year ago eSpain was most certainly considered a powerhouse eNation, with a large population and a plethora of experienced players. However a quick look a their stats in the fall indicated that the former eWorld titan was in significant decline. Their population has decreased at a rate faster than almost all other eNations and the loss of many regions through conflict had inflicted significant damage to their economy. However, things are looking up for eSpain. While still occupied, the eNation is starting to regain strength. Their population is increasing at a couple hundred players per day and they have moved from the 6th most populated country in the eWorld to the 3rd in the last month. Should this rate of growth be sustained, eSpain may once again be able to counter the Terra forces within their regions and likely move the battle back to regions in the Americas.
