United America
Shoi12
Alright, in light of the viral 'ATOM' article, many players have at least pondered the idea of going the way of the ONE. After all, we are tired of fighting the UK, and want something more interesting to fight, such as Ireland. As we are no longer part of EDEN, we are certainly able to. HOWEVER, remember that though our paths may have separated, we remain in good favor with most EDEN countries, and we have strained at best relations with ONE countries. After only recently becoming a respectable country, it is not the time to leave everything we have struggled to attain.
The US, on the other hand, has plenty of players, lots of borders, and tons of direct fighting with direct consequences. Canada wants a piece of that, don't we? So what I'm proposing is a UNION BETWEEN CANADA AND USA.
Why such a bold proposal? If you get past the apparent absurdity of the idea, you'll see it makes a lot of sense. First, it's worked before. Look at Germany-Denmark and you'll see that what started off as two pathetic countries melded together to become a respectable union. While both would be wiped on their own, united they are strong enough to resist Poland. With two mighty countries such as the US and Canada, we can finally become a country strong enough to single-handedly threaten Poland, or Serbia.
Second, it opens up new plans for attack. Canada has long been cursed to battle the UK, while the US is not given that opportunity. If we combine forces, we'll have all of Western Europe as a potential target.
And don't forget about the resources either. All resources are nice, and with a greater province total and larger pool of resources, we can fight more effectively. As the old saying goes, a union is more than the sum of its parts. Many of the battles against England have been for the oil, and united, Canada will no longer have to worry about the oil, and can focus more on other things.
Now at least a few of you may think: but if we form a united America, Canada won't get the voice it has as an independent country. That cannot be further from the truth. The US is one of the most respected countries, and being a part of the US will only bring attention to our opinions. Though we may be smaller in number, we certainly do not lack in intelligent thinkers and brilliant soldiers, and united our great minds can achieve much more than we could do separately.
We don't have to get rid of Canada altogether. We could use Canada as a form of training, sort of like a minor league system for new players. New players who could use the extra attention and personal support could live in Canada, gaining experience until they're ready to be in the big leagues (America). Keeping Canada around in a smaller form would still work, but overall, a united America would be a more viable solution.
And remember, us Canadians and Americans speak the same language. There will be no miscommunication because we are one. So consider this the next time you wish for some direct combat, Canadians. Think about this the next time you needed a little extra help, Americans. We must unite to become evermore glorious. o7, USA. o7, Canada. o7, United America.
Until next time, take care!

We could probably hit Spain or South America through the U.S.
Not only to try something different, but maybe we could also assist them and Portugal in Europe.
Or maybe my idea is a real rookie foolish one.
Addy has been espousing the super country idea for over a year. I think it is a good idea except not every American would want to become Canadian in game.
It's always a hassle to fight anyone other than the UK, and I say enough is enough. If we have to unite forces to become a stronger nation, then I'm up for it.
I oppose this idea.
"I think it is a good idea except not every American would want to become Canadian in game." x2
I'm thinking the opposite, actually, as in Canada would give its lands to the US. After all, it'd be faster and less prone to outside interference.
How many montth would it take to make the 700 or eCanadian players into american citizens?
How would we decide who get USA citizenship first, and the resourse bouses that come with it?
Shoi, This is Canada you're speaking to. You must understand the level of seriousness (or lack of) in every comment.
Of course it'd take awhile until everyone's implemented, but that's why I think going from Canada to USA is much faster, because Canada is smaller. Probably starting from higher ranked soldiers and political figures down to the regular Joe would be the best option. That way, the leaders of Canada could help fellow players settle into the new system, having experience themselves.
I enjoy being ranked in the top 150 in my nation, I enjoy my thoughts being heard.
Joining the USA is a great stratigic move, but what of our socioty we have built?
I've watched our best players move south and be lost in the masses that is the USA. to be lost ......
Yes, cruelbear, a lot of people aren't serious, and that's why we need this move, so that serious players in our country can be recognized. Otherwise, we'll remain the laughingstock of other countries.
It would make us weaker.
DOH!
We are not the laughing stock of the eWorld.
We hit harder then eNations 1000 members larger the us.( for some reason I kept typing Lager instead of Larger 🙂 )
....never mind........
After being wiped some time ago, we have yet to return to the level of pride and respect we deserve. While it'd take some time to be fully united, a United America would make both the US and Canada seem much more formidable and strong. It'd also show what great leadership and coordination we have. If 'mighty' Denmark can do it, so can we. Plus, we'd get free stuff and I like free stuff.
As cool as it would be, we'd be plagued by constant resistance wars draining our damage, especially when we're fighting for our Allies.
Very good idea, but what with people who don't leave eCan CS? My proposition: Free Ontario.
Because of the population difference, if there was a Union, any Canadian Influence would be lost
interesting...
Eventually everyone who plays this game seriously will leave eCanada and take citizenship with our closest ally, eUSA.
They get 100% production bonus
They get True Patriot Gold.
They get real battles against real opponents (not this UK stuff)
They get all our good players already.
Your plan will eventually happen anyway (slow'n'steady), Shoi, but just not in the manner you expect.
Yeah, I realized that a while back, and I thought that instead of leaving Canada out for dead, why not unite the two countries so that our land isn't wasted? Plus, it'd make things much easier to maintain.
I know, but the U.S. has so many people that Canada's interests would be lost in the haze of american politics. Besides, the U.S. doesn't really need anymore RW's popping up in other countries, as I assume that the U.S. would wipe you and the Canadians would move to the U.S., like the GenMark thing.
What you should do is what we have done in the U.K.:
Use Facebook ad campaign to sponsor a Babyboom, giving you more leverage. The U.K. has been given more respect in ONE because of our increase
in population. It has also helped mix up our political climate.
Stop following big brother U.S.
If a small ass country, poor country like Serbia can get real powerful, why can't a large, well educated, rich country like Canada have lots of people?
Along with the U.K., Canada has massive untapped potential players.
Be your own people, do your own thing.
Do you really want to follow the U.S.'s bidding? Or do you want to be the masters of your own fate?
GameChanger, I heard that the Admin was the one who sponsored the ad campaign. That true? Maybe I heard wrong.
Thanks for the pep talk. I'm not sure why we never thought of trying a babyboom sooner ; )
^wish i could vote article comments.
Besides, the US has a lot of top soldiers that were formerly Canadian but moved to be part of a greater country. If we join forces, we'd also gain such players with similar ideals as players still living in Canada. The point is, we are severely limited in Canada, and if all our top players are going to leave anyway, we might as well give the US all/most of the benefits Canada has to offer.
lol denmark was small, but calling german anythingless than respectable is ludicris...
hell no
I think this is a good idea, but I'm just worried about one thing... Not all Canadians want to be part of America, and vice versa. Not to mention that we would certainly lose our reputation that we're taken ages to have again... I'm neutral on this..

I beg your pardon? United Canada!
Very happy that my ATOM article went viral!!
I agree with SaraDroz:
"I beg your pardon? United Canada!"
My prediction if this comes to pass, everyone moves to USA but forget to tell the Francophones, the Quebec Republic is established.
The concept itself is a good idea, but the follow-up is a little harder. Do eCanadians surrender their identities as Canadian and become 1 super-eAmerica? Vice-versa? We need to work out kinks. If we form a union and we are all called "eAmericans", then we are nothing short than citizens of eUSA and are being asked to surrender our identities as eCanadians. We need to come to a mutual agreement to what we would be called.
The major issue is this:
1) You can't delete nations...even if every single eCan citizen moves over to eUSA.
2) While under occupation, a territory may be RWed at any time, especially if there is the right push by a Goldbeast or foreign nation (RW rules may be changing soon, so we'll see)
3) Once RWed, a Congress can be elected and if the population is very small, then it would be easy for PTOers to move in and take over.
4) Now you have a rogue/enemy nation to deal with
Correct?
😁^ That is what I see as the biggest flaw.
Game mechanics make such a move very difficult, nigh impossible. eCanadians would still have to be responsible for baby sitting the former eCanadian regions as they get regularly RW to screw with the eUS military focus.
And is this our fault? The game should be the one to change, not our ideas.
Does an inventor change his invention or the Laws of Physics so that his invention works? Work within the limitations put upon you.
If the rules do change on Day 1,666 regarding RWs, then this idea may become more valid. Until ideas trump game mechanics, we will have to settle for what the admins give us.
btw, I hear that Congress will be able to vote on RWs so this may be an interesting mechanic that will need us to adapt strategies, so this article is still worth considering as a "what if."
I support this
We could at least give some land to the US, because they could use it more than we could, as we have nothing to do.
Once we have had our war with Ireland and EDEN-backed Irish forces have occupied us, then the US can help liberate those territories and keep whatever they want.
I enjoy the eCanadian rank I have attained.
I DO NOT want to be thrown into the "melting pot" that is eUSA.
Right now each and every eCanadian is special. Our voices are heard. We succeed in what we do given our limitations.
However, yes i agree that these UK wars are getting lame and boring, maybe a future PM can bring us in a new direction.
If any PM threatens the eCanadian identity, I highly doubt he/she would be in power for long.
Also one more thing to add,
If this disgusting move does take place I promise you, you'll see the creation of reactionary groups.
And the RW's will begin and will never stop...
Shoi12, your idea is a very good one. It's well thought out and written. I just can't see myself being American, nor would I ever want to be. If it did happen though, it would be interesting to see all the revolutions take place.
I completely agree with Tokerr here
I dunno, I think if I had the choice to lay down and become eAmerican, or fight the eUSA for sovereignty, I'd pick the later. If Canada wants to surrender to the USA, if that's the end goal, then I'd rather move to a country that is proud of its history and borders. I ain't no Yank, even if it means leads to more war or gold.
If only eRepublik let us form unions instead of plain countries, then this would work so well. If Canada unites with the US, we'll still be Canadian, just under an American flag. That's why I said we'd live under United America, not the US.
It's like Denmark; while they live under the German flag, they're still proud to be Danes, though I don't know how : P
