Time for Ideas that push us past eInsanity
Vyrin the First
There is nowhere eAustralia can go but up. Consoling. Yet we keep going down the same roads that result in eInsanity.
Can we as a nation come to grips with the fact that the same ideas and ways of doing things are going to continue to bring us down? Egos are hurting us big time. If you think there are no egos involved, then you for sure have one of the biggest.
Because we can't make things worse, why don't we try new ideas.
1) Only elect politicians who have never served before. Look to them for new ideas and a fresh way of doing things.
2) Turn diplomacy over to new people who don't have all the baggage that our current negotiators do. What can it hurt? Things can't be worse than they are. We might actually get beyond the petty bickering - and if we don't we're no worse off.
3) The experienced players can serve as the heavies in battles and supply coordinators. That in my mind is their greatest asset. Experience has not helped our country prosper from a strategy/diplomacy perspective as measured by continued poor results.
4) Enshrine recruitment and training of new players as the #1 priority. EGov doesn't lie. Chile has 9x the fighters we do. See any correlation?
5) Post strategy updates from the government in a forum for eAus eyes only so there can be greater understanding and coordination.
6) Pull everyone into one coordinated military unit that actually plans battles in advance, fights together, and has a plan for how they're going to be won.
7) Pool resource so that everyone can build their food and weapon production with a loan program. Loan dollars/gold to buy companies and then ask for a portion of the output for a specified time. What do we use tax dollars for anyway?
8 ) Start a cadre of journalists who report in the forum for eAus eyes about what is going on in the wider world.
9) Develop a reward system for things that citizens do that actually help eAus get stronger. Beyond the in-game system.
10) Move discussion out of IRC into fora for greater participation. Set a minimum time before being able to join - say 2 months of consistent playing and level 25. This would disqualify me! It would also give new players another goal for which to aim.
Post ideas. But make sure they're different. Be creative. The same will only continue to prolong the mess we're in right now.

Anything that involves the forums, No.
Not enough people look at them, Not enough people like looking at then and its honestly a trollfest there, Not exactly where we want our new players to go.
I like number one. Old hasbeens hanging onto to power chokes a country bad. I've been guilty of this to a degree.
It couldn't happen ofc, but it would be cool. The oldfags here would get spiteful & bitchy and try to make it fail hard.
But if u could have a flush out & the older player graciously stepped aside & supported from a distance then it'd be an interesting experience.
It's a good time to try it anyway, got nothing to lose.
Newer players also lack experience, the idea is to have the newer players who are in cabinet for the first time won't be running things but helping out so that they learn how things work.
Yes, let a collective inactive new players run diplomacy and senate.
That would end great.
There needs to be a balance of old and new. Not entirely leaning one way.
@James thanks for explaining that - then there has to be another way beyond IRC which has its own problems - ideas?
@Callumh so explain to me how things could get worse... do you have any new ideas? I want to hear them...
The point is this a) things can't get worse so there's no harm in trying new ideas - b) current ideas are not changing poor results - c) we need new ideas. I'm not saying I have them I just want to push the discussion until we find the right ones.
vote+sub good job
send please 🙁
poof speak for yourself CC, i had my two terms and entered retirement. As a matter of fact, we are getting new bloods in office these days. Which was a nice change.
