Rest in Peace to my Father
Dominar Rygel XVI
I wanted to share with you this about my father, who was recently tragically lost. We thank you all for your thoughts and prayers in this very difficult time.
Dr. Steven James Mayer, 52, of Robbinsville, passed away tragically Tuesday, April 19, 2016. Steve was a long-time, active resident of Robbinsville. Born in Summit, NJ, Steve was a high-energy, natural-born leader. In his role as Superintendent of the Robbinsville School System, he loved kids, education, and living life to the fullest. He was passionate for the mission of Deerfoot Lodge, a Christian camp for boys located in the Adirondack Mountains, and Hope Unlimited, a mission organization for at-risk street kids in Brazil. Steve attended Messiah College in Grantham, PA where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and met his future wife, Donna. They moved to the area when Steve accepted a job in Howell Township. He was then Assistant Principal at Applegarth Middle School in Monroe Township and Principal at James Madison Intermediate School in Edison, NJ. Before his post as Superintendent, Steve was the first Principal at Thomas Grover Middle School in West Windsor-Plainsboro, a position he held for 8 years. He also served as the Assistant Superintendent in West Windsor-Plainsboro. Steve earned both his Masters and Doctoral degrees from Rutgers University. Steve was an active member of Princeton Alliance Church, preaching several times per year and sitting on the governing board. Steve's smile was contagious and he brought an overwhelming sense of joy everywhere he went. He lived a Micah 6:8 life daily; acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly with God. He was a follower of Christ and an amazing family man. Steve is survived by his wife, Donna and three sons, Ryan, Shaun and Kyle Mayer; his mother, Cathie Barrow and his father, Jim Mayer along with his wife, Judy; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cornelia and Walter Van Beers; his sister, Lori Mayer; his brother, Jeff Mayer and his wife, Laura; his brother in-law, John Van Beers and his wife, Tamao and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Princeton Alliance Church, 20 Schalks Crossing Road, Plainsboro, NJ. Live streaming of the service will be hosted at Robbinsville High School, Saint David the King, Queenship of Mary Roman Catholic Church and via www.princetonalliance.org/stevemayer. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to The Steven J. Mayer Memorial Fund at princetonalliance.org/stevemayer. Arrangements are under the direction of the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, NJ.
