eAUSTRALIA = DO THE SAME THING AND EXPECT DIFFERENT RESULTS = INSANITY
Vyrin the First
Are there any others out there that realize the sound of beating your head against the wall is not the drumbeat of victory?
Some observations. Sorry if they are uncomfortable. I doubt any are outright wrong. Some may be a matter of debate.
1) Courting allies is a FAIL strategy. Until we can prove we can stand on our own in at least one territory we will always be looked at as a farm for someone. Political science applies in this world as well. Think of real Africa. God help the people there because they are always just being taken advantage of by someone else.
2) We should be fighting resistance battles until we get eAustralia back. At the very least it demands energy from our conquerers.
3) We need a coordinated military. There is no point for this game to have military units. Especially in a small country. We should all be in one. Get over yourself and your past squabbles. Egos suck. Pull together into one unit and get a coordinated strategy with someone who can communicate orders. I got a hint on IRC that because the resistance fight wasn't government sanctioned, it was not encouraged and some stayed out of it. Really? Does this not make you a Chilean?
4) I have been desperately looking for information on a strategy. One example: in the fora all I found today were 2 new posts. A kitten picture competition (Binda I love you, you are awesome - sorry - I do think you are awesome) and a list of mind-numbing Inspector General procedures for some nonsense reason. Really, really?
5) Take off the blinders. There are other options and different ways to play this game. Case in point: Noob fighting strategy (separate posting) would work except people tell me it's wrong. I am not stupid I understand how the battles work from the tutorials. Dogmatists can't see that there are options here. A coordinated strat could have us racking up points at all parts of the battle not just after the one hour mark.
6) Every day players join eAustralia. Every day they leave because there seems to be no point in playing. Only a new and more active group will get us where we want to go.
You may think I have aspirations. You are wrong. I don’t want to play the politics here.
All I want to do is play a game. I am happy to follow a winning strategy.
If there is no strategy that has any hope of succeeding, this is just a kinda strange way for people to hang out online. And that's not what I'm looking for here.
Can’t there be a meaningful conversation that happens somewhere about these things? IRC requires that you just by chance are on at the right time or are invited to the right channels. People are going to invite me to join conversations even less now.
Love to all you wierdos. I may be one of you.

1 & 2 agree with 3 not sure - I dont think the MUs are uncoordinated (the ones that matter anyhow)
4 well you could post in the aus forums - you know you will get a response ranging from trolling to assistance
5 basically was wrong but I could see where you were coming from 6 People come & go for all sorts of reasons; it would be good if they could be helped & encouraged.
I hate politics - but eRep is set up so you cannot ignore it.
There is nothing wrong with having aspirations
"We should be fighting resistance battles until we get eAustralia back. At the very least it demands energy from our conquerers."
Thats not how bloody ceasefires work.
who asked for the ceasefire?
Here's a scenario regarding my noob fighting strategy since so many doubt me:
http://community.auserepublik.com/index.php?topic=20270.0
If anything is wrong with it it is because the tutorials are not explaining something and I need to learn it.
And James, usually when a country goes into ceasefire they tell people so that everyone knows and doesn't undermine it. I am begging for some coordination!
omg even noob understand this better than our government

We have a government?
So we need to fight resistance wars and have a coordinated military? Wow, what a genius.
I wish I had thought of that.
Ok Vyrin so who the fk are you mate? You're obviously a returned player so stop being pussy and reveal yourself.
Vyrin thanks for some topical discussion. I will never team up with our agressors. Fight to the bitter end. I am freedom lover and Australian to the soul - till the very last bullethole.
😁^
That could be such a rallying cry
Be a freedom lover, not a llama lover!!!
Continuing to fight resistance wars is the same thing and it isn't getting different results very often.
Sure sometimes we might be able to claw back a few regions for a little bit, but they won't last forever.
Soo, what is the alternative supereviloverlord?
eAustralia has been doing the same thing for 5 years now. Fighting resistance wars, getting raped by a country a few days later. So, our current government seems to be trying a new tactic - allying with one of the LOCAL powers, instead of eUSA, and trying to fight from there. As you say, doing the same thing and expecting different results is insanity... so why are you saying we should go back to the same thing we have been doing for 5 years? I would know, I was here long ago.
Kevin: Show me where the coordination is and I will follow it. Sometimes people forget even basic things. I'm not saying it's genius I'm saying it's different.
supervileoverlor😛 That is why my strat also says we need to recruit. Fighting alone with the numbers we have won't do it either. See my posts from the beginning.
Arcaian: I don't think local allies will treat us any better. There's no reason for them to do so. Successful resistance is the only way. See above.
Thanks to all no matter what the comments.
I'm provocative I know. But it's so that I can learn - get connected - hopefully help in some way. I'm not a returning player. I'm a total noob. But I am not a noob at strategy games. And this one is frustrating as hell. But there are enough people I like now that if I can take a bullet for them I will!
Nicely put Vyrin. I wondered why the hell we were fighting a war for South Africa when we don't even have our own regions. Yes, the government may be working on a political solution, that doesn't mean we should stop fighting and we should certainly not have orders that directs MUs and troops to another country when we have an RW occurring for our own regions.
@ Arrcain: he is right, chile WAS once a local ally, who now controls our regions?
Arcaian is a genius. Listen to him.
Change tatics, change sides, change anything ffs.
You've done the same thing for years. Will it take another half decade to realize it isn't working down here.

This is an interesting article that bring up some topical discussion and makes you think.
However, the 'get off my lawn' policy didn't work so why keep beating a dead horse?
I'm not a Chilean sympathizer, it is stupid to even think that I feel bad for Chile in the slightest.
But I am realistic and surprisingly not the thick one in this discussion.
If you haven't seen it already, the eWorld has changed. It will not go back to normal.
CONT
Alliances have changed. Our main ally that was the eUSA has a eChilean MPP and not an eAustralian. They are actively fighting against Taiwan/China.
Back on topic, the reason why we are not currently fighting in Resistance Wars is as Greg put it, taking the diplomatic route. There is a real possibility that we would gain all our regions back. All RW do is slow Chile down, but from who? Arg? Since when have we cared about Arg?
Also, I agree with a lot of your points.
Especially number 4. We tried something similar a couple of months ago but it was Binda that illegally brought this down abusing her admin powers, because it was called 'bewbs4newbs'. Where you could post a chick and get free food an weapons.
The current MoE should look into implementing that again.
Cheers for the article, I actually thought about all your points and it is great to see a new player trying to make a change.

@Vyrin the First
There aren't many reasons to treat us well, except for the fact that we have some of the more dedicated and experienced players in the Southern Hemisphere... but the point is, we've been fighting resistance wars for quite literally 5 years now. The game has changed, and we're at a point where there is a solid chance of eAustralia getting its regions given back to it, and joining a powerful southern alliance. You've given fighting 5 years, give diplomacy one month.
@Callumh - thanks for reading and the thoughtful response. It helps.
@ Arcalan - I want to believe you I really do. But the title of my article says it all.
I can't believe we've never been given territory back - joined an alliance - or engaged in diplomacy before.
Even if this time it has some modicum of success, it will only be a short while before the basic mechanics of the game kick in and we lose our territory again.
@ all - how can we expect noobs to be interested if everything is a behind the scenes communication between a select group of players.
@Arcaian: Seriously, do you even read what you write? eAustralia has been fighting RWs, losing our nations to other bigger bully nations since Beta, nothin has changed, nothing will change, everything that could be changed has changed and yet we are still always the ham in the sandwich. We have been allied with the big boys, the bad boys, the opposite boys etc etc etc and so on, guess what, we are still being wiped.
eChile was our ally not so long ago, with NZ, against eArgentina, then eChile and eNZ stabbed us in the back and wham, they started to get slammed, only to turn and take us because their own stupid government at the time got themselves wiped. Now we have eArgentina as an ally, our once enemy, go figure. If you don't think this hasn't been tried before your missing serious eAussie History. Just keep RWing our regions, support them and keep going. It's our lot.
@Vyrin I see your article title but I don't completely understand it. At one level I'll say that the current strategies (attempt some diplomacy, if we need to charge in and show them why we're good as an ally etc) IS something very different then the old strategies (at least while I've been here) of just RW over and over and over again. That said the rest is true as well, at some level EVERYTHING is 'the same strategy'.
Not a single idea from anyone in the past couple weeks has been brand new, they have tried before and they will be tried again and since we're a stubbon group we'll always want exactly what we want and not want to give in at all. However switching it up is good I think and sometimes you go back to old strategies because the CURRENT one (just keep RWing) isn't working. Change is good and it's time for another change. It looks remarkably like something old but that's the circle of history at work.
OH: in case it isn't obvious 🙂 Thank you for the articles, just like I think changing tactics is good for keeping people alive and awake and for the game as a whole I think debate and argument is good too. We need more new players like you!
Fresh.
You're annoying me now. If you are a legit new player (and how many new players know they're needed?), what makes you think that you know more about the way this game, our country, and politics in general work better than people who have been working with it for months, even years? I'm over debating on articles, if you want too talk, come to IRC. Otherwise, enjoy the game.
CyberCasper did you not tell me yesterday - on IRC - that you intended to leave Australia for the US.
That you were working for a negotiated deal with Chile that ceded part of our territory to them.
And after that you were leaving because you thought Australian behaviour was "harsh"
Do I have that right? Please advise me if that is not the case & I have somehow misunderstood you.
And for what its worth I think Vyrin has a good handle on things. Please don't patronise him
It's always a good idea to question what the Govt is up to and ask for more information when it seems to be lacking or hard to find.
I'm of the opinion that we should not offer a ceasefire until Chile have released at least one region of ours as a sign of good faith.
Cyber I know I can seem like an upstart but the mechanics of this game are not rocket science. I've played a lot of strategy games. Sorry if it annoys you.
I try to logon to IRC. But the times I can be on - no one is there. It's a problem I don't know how to solve.
@Xavier Griffith
Before you go ahead and tell me that I know nothing of eAustralian history, check when I joined. 25th of November, 2008. Not long after you did. I know we have tried diplomacy, I'm not saying we never have. I'm saying that we have been fighting RWs much more than we have tried diplomacy. And your point that we will only have the regions temporarily - the same thing applies to RWs. The title of this article says it all - why keep fighting and expect different results?
And the above also applies to your comment @Vyrin the First - we have tried diplomacy. But nowhere NEAR the amount of times we've tried fighting.
Why don't we try the only strategy that's going to work - recruiting new players.
See new post.
