[Vendetta] The Shadow Cabinet
Sven Goran Duran-Duran
Further to Bigant's article, Vendetta - today announce the arrival the Shadow Cabinet! \o/
As well as being a bit of fun, one of the goals of the Shadow Cabinet is to help focus constructive criticism of the Government and offer a real and credible alternative.
Whilst the Shadow Cabinet is a Vendetta project - Vendetta being the eUK's largest, organised opposition group - we are proud to include members of other parties within the Cabinet who have shown a genuine interest in helping to more effectively hold the government to account.
Some of the shadow ministers and deputies have absolutely no experience in the equivalent Government roles and for them this is a bit of a learning exercise. I'm counting on them to show enthusiasm with no strings attached.
Some have a lot of experience or are already fluent in their field and I am counting on them to lead the debate for an alternative in their specific shadow ministry whilst also, importantly, training the deputies that serve under them and familiarising them with the issues relevant to the department.
another way is possible
I will be in touch directly with all Shadow Ministers and deputies shortly in order to clarify with them what exactly their roles and objectives are.
The Shadow Cabinet

Finally, let me say I was overwhelmed by the response we got for Vendetta Shadow Cabinet applications. We have therefore expanded the programme to include more deputies and reshuffled a bit.
I apologise to anyone who missed out, but as Shadow Minister without Portfolio, I will be keeping an eye on the Shadow Ministers and Shadow Ministers that aren't active enough will be replaced.
For now however, please join me in congratulating and wishing luck to our first Vendetta Shadow Cabinet \o/

Freedom for UK.
This will be a constructive method of challenging the current and future governments. Without it being called a "Troll"...
Anyway congrats to all. Myself included who will be making it harder work for the MoF boys.
If they let you in, which they don't have to, at all.
It's a shadow cabinet, they aren't actually trying to put people in the ministries, just scrutinise the current ministers and make sure they've done a good job.
By let them in I mean giving them any info.
still voting your own comments i see...........sad
Where's Malkaiser (aka GokuJones)?
he didn't apply 🙁

Probably better to wait for the Shadow Shadow cabinet from the Spamicans
ON ITS WAY!
V!
V!
Let's hope that for a change, constructive criticism is constructive - we all can benefit - and not just what we've experienced from some of your members (Dapper/V in particular) over the past few months, which was calling everyone who disagreed with him a fascist. If you have only mature players in your shadow cabinet, it will be a good thing for all.

I actually thought you guys was going to give ordinary players the chance to get valuable experience. Yet all i see is the positions held by the old and elite players you have.
Such a shame this was a great chance to actually be able to invest and develop the youth for tomorrow, But instead it looks like just a ego stroking completion
I'm afraid your comment is very wrong. I've been given a chance to learn about the political side of the game for the first time by being made a deputy. Every other party, and I've been a member of a lot, has refused to give me any experience. I may not be new to the game but I am very new to politics. Thanks Vendetta for giving me a chance.
I'm sorry you feel that way NWG - but I would like to point out that I think I included nearly every candidate that applied. There were one or two I thought were not serious but apart from that... There are also non V members in the Cabinet too. One of the ideas of the Shadow Cabinet is not only to focus criticism - both positive and negative - but also to train up less experienced members like Achilles and others in the Cabinet. We can't train people up without using more experienced heads. I hope we've actually got a decent mix, but the this is only the first Shadow Cabinet and there will be more
I think the biggest problem in your scheme is the lack of experienced ministers in key positions. I'd advise, personally, having blank spots when you have no experienced member available as it maintains your credibility. I like the Shadow Cabinet, we spend a lot of time criticising congress for not being open and transparent but the Cabinet is usually much worse. However, when you attempt to challenge people with nothing credible to back you up with, and no real wisdom to impart to deputies I think you're making a mistake.
For example, BigAnt as a sMoF to mean seems daft. He has no experience in the position and even in his CP terms he didn't have access to cash. If I was in the cabinet, I'd take it as an easy way to dismiss any criticisms and I'd also be concerned about how much the deputy could actually learn. BigAnt as a sMoD however would be great, he's had several terms of the proper job and was CP during quite a fair bit of war. Call him a nonce or a prick all you like, he understands the MoD role quite well and I do listen to him when he criticises the incumbents anyway.
Good luck anyway, hope to see you force more governmental articles out of notoriously quiet ministries
But I can know how to change passwords and stop money being stolen ..... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
you know what butjam? you may have a point there, although personally I do think Don's expertise in matters military is a great asset too. Nevertheless, we're definitely considering changing things around a bit to get the best out of who we have.
Oh yeah, don't want you to take it like Don shouldn't be in that position. he's ran a pretty successful unit for ages now and I would trust his advice.
I do agree with several of your choices, just hope they can live up to the hype now. If the scheme is still going and Talon hasn't already bagsied it, I'll think about signing up to help out in sMoF at some point
If your "new" players wanted experience of the various roles in government, then they are more than welcome to apply for the actual roles rather do a complete boycott as you tend to do if a non-Vendetta person won the CP election.
Most cabinets, and the current one is no exception, have debuties roles where inexperienced players can get a proper taste of the role.
Can't knock you for wanting to scrutinise the government, but Congress really need to step up their involvement in keeping an eye on the Government. Hopefully this will change come the next election
So what is this shadow cabinet gonna do?
Shadow Congress???
Oh god no we don't need more of them.
I personally would've swapped BigAnt and You may call me V, seeing as BigAnt has done defence stuff before and You may call me V at least does know a little about economics and such if you read his articles about paying over the odds for tank making.
I'll look forward to being criticized by Sir Rex though.
Offer's still open to help mentor some of your less experienced players. I've held and done well at most of the positions in government, and more than happy to help pass some of that knowledge on to the next generation, whichever party they're in 🙂
In 5 years of playing, I've never come across a "shadow cabinet" Such an obvious attempt of a power grab that isn't only undemocratic but doesn't hold the interests of eUK at heart.
Find some other country to troll.
?
Not sure you understand what a "shadow cabinet" is, used correctly it's a way for the opposition (by which I mean any party not in government at the time) to properly voice any constructive criticism of the government ministries and to put forth their own ideas on how things should be run. Hopefully it'll work like that in this instance, only time will tell.
Interesting team, good luck to all!

Thanks for giving me a chance to gain some experience as a deputy. Vendetta is the first party that has given me this kind of opportunity. I hope I can make the most of it and can make the party proud. Thanks again!
Can't believe you didn't give me the MoHA job.
Surely a Professor such as yourself would be better suited to the Ministry of Education?
You'd think, but I'm a professor of Contemporary Interpretive Dance.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt re' 'constructive criticism'. Your privious actions and criticisms have been anything but constructive. If you are really able to move away from the constant slander, lies, distortions and unfounded criticism, that has been your moduc operandi, then the UK may have turned a corner. I'm not holding my breath, as I've heard it all before but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and see if, for once, your actions match your rhetoric...
