Day 1,750, 22:29 Published in India India by DonMogul

Round One Overview

What a round this was! We have had two firsts in eIndian Premier League history in this only the first round of the tournament!

We have in two separate matches, for the first time in history, half centuries scored. Considering the matches are only 10 overs a side this is quite an achievement indeed!

We also have had our first drawn match ever! Please read on to find out who!

South Africa 1 V Sri Lanka

South Africa 1 had a nervous start losing early wickets in their innings but quickly recovered from their stage fright and posted a respectable target for Sri Lanka to chase.

Sri Lanka struggled to get anything going early on and while their run rate picked up towards the end, it was too little too late. South Africa took the match.

South Africa 2 V Australia

There was some high quality batting from both sides in this match, no mercy was given to the spin bowlers from either side!

South African off spin bowler, Yabu, gave up 2 6s and 3 4s in one over! It was this poor performance that lead to Australian batsman SomeGuy with the first ever half century in our tournament's history! SomeGuy finished the innings 54*.

The two leg spin bowlers for Australia had a disastrous spell giving up 40 runs between the two of them. It was largely due to this poor performance that South Africa 2 took the match.

England V India 2

English batsman Dr Rosa scored the 2nd and last half century of the round and heavily contributed to the highest team total in eIPL history. England scored an incredible 85 runs.

India 2 had an extremely slow start which wasn't helped at all by losing 5 wickets in the first three overs. They managed to bat out their innings and achieved a respectable run total but the target of 86 was just too much for India 2.

New Zealand V India 1

An absolutely incredible match!

New Zealand's batting order collapsed after a promising start and they only had one wicket in hand for the last over of their innings. The team scored a great total in the windy conditions, 65.

India 1 took the slow and steady approach initially and waited for their batsmen to settle in. Once they did so, the run rate started to climb upwards and onwards.

The openers never looked in trouble throughout their innings and India 1 did not lose a single wicket.

Despite this steady performance, it still did not look good for India 1 at the beginning of the final over of the match. India 1 required 18 runs to win.

Their batsmen hit 4 4s off some shoddy and nervous bowling. The 5th ball was a dot.

On the final ball of the innings the batsman tried to gently poke the ball through a small gap in the field and victory looked certain.

Some athletic fielding prevented more than a single being scored, saving New Zealand from defeat.

All in all India 1 deserved to win the match, but were very unlucky indeed!
