[PoA]2nd of March 2011
Prince of Austria
I was only a couple of months old when it happened. Still getting used to the game, I had only a few people in my friends list. It all started a few days before the deadly 2nd of March. 2011, the game was in its prime, being only a couple of years old. Over 500.000 active players every day. Serbia and Poland were massive countries with well over 40-50 thousand people each. Among all those people some were paying for privileges which was fair, considering that's how all pay-to-win games work. It was a problem for some but it was something they couldn't change. But then the game administration dared touch where no one even thought of touching for 4 years. Into the very core of the game. They announced some changes to the game that were considered (and with full right) an end to the game we all loved and cherished. That's the good part. Many of the things weren't even announced.
It was like going to sleep in a mansion and waking up in a tent! People quickly forged a chain of reaction that started by setting up a channel on IRC where in one point amassed more than 1200 people. I was one of them. We were all there for a reason. Some even wanted personal benefits. Some started posting pictures of the only official communications account Plato in different modifications showing the unappreciation and disgust to the new changes in the game. A real vandalism happened when the official wiki of the game was ruined. Wiki moderators and everyone that had an account there just started writing and posting pictures against the administration. It was one way to show the rebellious side of the ordinary Joe. And they didn’t ask for more than what was fair and in the good interest of everyone. Even pay-to-win players.
-Rumours of the team implementing changes in order to heavily favour Gold-buying citizens;
-Concerns that the "unified inventory and money accounts" project would again wreak havoc in the economy of the New World;
-The usage of bots by the eRepublik team to buy goods from national markets and issue currencies onto the Monetary Markets;
-Long and loudly demanded limit on the wellness packs;
-Perception that the improvements of the media and the private messaging module were restrictive;
-Planned deletion of organizations and with it destroying a great part of eRepublik history;
-Innumerable delays in the implementation of phases related to the housing and hospital industry. (believe it or not we are still waiting for those, 9 years now and still going strong)
Showing revolt against the staff manifested in other ways too. Country Presidents changed their welcoming message through an official law and many countries signed unofficial truce as a means of boycott. Those people were soon after “tried” and without means of defense put down to rest by the administration. They weren’t the only ones that died that day though. Many people got temp bans, got their articles deleted and their mouths shut because that was the easiest way to suppress the rebellion which turned out to be the last time people stood up for what's right. An idea that led them down the righteous path. An idea that is still kept alive by some of those that witnessed the 2nd of March 2011. These people are heroes, and some of them never returned to play the game. Some did return but never talked about that day ever again, out of fear that they will get another ban. I doubt there are still some playing the game as of today, there were some playing under different aliases in Israel and USA but even they probably “sold” or “traded” their accounts. (Remember trading or selling accounts is strictly forbidden!)

Soon a meeting was set up with a representative of the eRepublik administration, Belea2008. As assumed the meeting didn’t even last for 5 mins before it was called off because “protesters had many demands deemed NON-NEGOTIABLE”. It was a mere excuse because everyone knew that it’s a suicide. No one in their right mind would give players what they want. That would in turn mean that the game is perfect. Automatically one group of people would disappear in an instant. The fighters for a better tomorrow. Because let's face it, there is always room for improvement. It's up to us (or at least to me) to keep the legacy alive. Those people didn’t fall for nothing, they fell because they believed in an idea much greater than any of us. An idea for a better tomorrow for all of us. A better environment and a community that is in close communication with the staff.
I want to point out that all of the written text up top is FACT and for some total rubbish. However it is, this thing happened and will forever be etched in the history books of this great game. Also I understand that as a taboo theme not many people want to talk about it or let alone publish articles about it. I take full responsibility for any mistake or lies said here. I also want to mention that I have nothing against the current staff or administration in eRepublik. This is something that happened 9 years ago, people changed, and if nothing else accepted their fate.
Last but not least I have to finish my article in style and with the same words that I’ve been shouting at least once a day for many years now. Those people that fell on that day found someone that carried on their legacy for 9 years now. Maybe it’s time I find my substitute.
2nd of March 2011
NEVER FORGET
Because if not us, then who?
Prince of Austria, witness of the bloody 2nd of March

Plato, because suicide is fun.
"You may not: (i) enter, select or use an email address owned or controlled by another person with the intent to impersonate that person, or, (ii) use a name without appropriate authorisation, iii) permit others to use your account, iv) sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your erepublik account to another party, v) use other Users’ accounts, vi) charge anyone for access to any portion of www.erepublik.com, or any information therein."
^ As long as this is part of the Terms of Service, they have no excuse to allow account transfers of any kind and they should deal with those cases.
The sad reality is that with most of the transferred accounts having one or more packs, eRepublik makes money off of them. They are afraid of losing guaranteed income over the uncertain one - which would be other players spending money in the game as a result of becoming truly "legal" according to the Terms of Service. Overall, eRep doesn't inspire much confidence in its future, with the "coming soon" or "in the following weeks" promises having been broken really badly. Really old "visual bugs" persist in the game and they don't do anything about them, which cannot inspire people into buying packs or hope for a better future.
So we're stil here for whatever reason and we have to deal with all these. And we're not forced to be here, just as they don't seem to care enough about all of these concerns to address them.
You are right about pretty much everything but it doesn't mean we shouldn't try and change things right?
We tried and failed. This is their domain and they proved plenty of times that money will prevail in here. Even if they care about our wishes or demands, they will side with the money.
Really interesting!
I was not yet e-born at the time.
likewise, it was before my time, as they say.
Who remembers the "sirtaki dance" revolution in Guerilla fighting ??
tell me more about this, i am interested in this part of the revolution.
(plus, sirtaki is a cool greek dance)
Or Plato's Help cover...
There was a period that almost all players united against it
People would get in from both sides and wouldn't fight each other
Just go back and forth..
The Union make The Force. The CP joined never be defeated.
i see...
this is a very interesting analysis about the events of that day.
but as tebaldo said above, I was not yet e-born at the time.
i think i joined the game around day 2060 or so, and many wild things have happened since then.
its sad that this chaos occured on the 2nd of march tho.
good article, prince of austria.
be well.
i remember everything
I remember too. Sadly.
Sub 968
Peoples were diffrent from what we see now
Only 9 years more olders, hahahaha.
thats epic
Thanks bro. It was hard, but still i think that was right. Resist and defend the free exchange between players without limits.
I was here by long time already, but I totally forgot about a "rebellion". Instead I well remember the real cause of massive leaving of this game was the eRepublik V2, the most stupid move ever.
Thanks legend. Seeing guys like you gives regular people hope. I'm sure I'll see you on the rev2.0 battlefield again.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.
Even today I find it so hard to believe that the game developers were satisfied enough with the results to allow it to continue.
Alexis Bonte moved on to different projects, and Erep is basically a candle burning softly in the corner instead of the bright spotlight it could have become.
Consider the start-up cash they received and how badly they failed... they had to take the steady money from the guaranteed gold buyers. But it made the game so much worse

Erepublik users need a brigade and a group that legally defends their environment.
The game is very pleasant as is a coffee and its contents!
The elimination of CO, bar deals are recent changes that do not bring a benefit to players; Improvements necessary to affect your players?
Objetive?
Add time and health factors, the welfare of its users, why? The online experience of the erepublik system is 10 years online.
live another decade in erepublik, what can you offer? changes for good or to affect the community.
Do you know where your investment is going?

You see this game as a game. This is in fact a product. A product that is made for purpose of making the money. Creators haven't created the game for players to play it. They made the game in order for players to spend money.
I don't understand what are you complaining about. If you don't like the current situation, stop playing. Why should they let go of the profit so that you can play the game?
Who said anything about complaining mate? I just marked the date because something meaningful happened then. Its clear as blue sky that almost all games are made for money. We get that loud and clear. Although I can name you at least 10 games where people changed the system. Its still pay to win but the playing enviornment is much better.
btw: found an old article from an already dead eFriend. Compare thoose numbers with recent ones... 😉

LOL@infinite_everything.
9 Years ago : Best players make 10 x more damage.
Nowadays : In one day they make more damage than my entire e-rep damage story.
Wrong premise. This game, like other services, is a business. We are only the market for this business.
And businesses are free to set there own rules, as far as the rules are law abiding.
Even though I understand your point, it's worthless. To play big you have to pay.
Too long. Did not read. Lulz
