The Importance of Communication
Hivernal
Communication is a seemingly overlooked part of the community here in eJapan, despite just how important it is for the continued well being of the game itself. Yes, the fights are all cool and fun and all that (sarcasm), but what it really comes down to is the community. It's actually so important that I am completely astonished it doesn't take the #1 priority in every government as it encourages growth and new ideas and enjoyment for everyone involved.
What it primarily comes down to is the government having little desire to change or improve. I've seen comments by government members stating that it's simply a matter of not having enough things happening in the country and thus there being little to write about. But that's not true at all. It's a sad day when a country such as eSwitzerland, with a population numbering 1/3 that of eJapan, far less if you consider the active members, continuously is able to pump out engaging and relevant media (you guys rock by the way, keep it up).
Honestly, it really isn't all that difficult, the government just seems to not care at all. You might say that you're busy people and have lives so you can't waste time writing all these articles, but that's no excuse either. Perhaps if you're so busy, you shouldn't be in the government. There is an ample pool of individuals who are happy to help out, but the government is completely unwilling to take in those individuals for whatever reason. Whether that be them not being eSerbian or eHungarian, or just their perceived uselessness. You have every ability to improve communication and the community interaction, but you refuse to do so.
Don't know what to write about? There are millions of things. Here's a few just off the top of my hea
😛
Defense:
Plan strikes,
give battle tutorials,
how you do what you do
Foreign Affairs:
State of affairs,
current FA policies,
what's happening around the eWorld,
how you do what you do
Finances:
Economic tutorials,
state of the treasury,
gains and losses,
how you do what you do
Education:
Doing pretty good with all the awards and stuff, but just throw some cultural articles out there, Japan is an extremely interesting and unique place, there is no shortage of things that can easily be shared with the community.
Those are just a few things that literally took 20 seconds to come up with and each of those things can be spun and published hundreds of different and engaging ways. You're all smart people and there is honestly no shortage of good things to write about. Too much work? Recruit new people to help. Think I'm just "butthurt"? Sure thing, if wanting an active government makes me butthurt. Don't give a fuck? You are the cancer of eJapan and are significantly damaging our community.
I'd like to point out that I strongly approve of the MoD change and am very pleased with and hope that the battle orders is something that can continue throughout the month. As well as the MoCHE for the work that they have been doing thus far.
Otherwise, it's been radio silence from every other member of our government. Our CP has every ability to engage the community and lay out plans and ideas and discuss cabinet choices and work for a better eJapan. As CP, you can pretty much write about anything. Just write about something, please, you're our CP, and if everyone else is silent, you're supposed to be the one person we can all turn to.
And Geezus? Does he even still play anymore? He certainly doesn't do anything, and the VP position should go to someone who can help out the various departments and ensure a more smoothly running government. Again opposed to just circle-jerking medals and positions to brag about.
Oh, and once again I will suggest opening the border! As I will state every time, there are practically no downsides and it allows for more damage, more talented citizens, and greater activity. Among many other things.
There are very straightforward and relatively simple ways to greatly improve our community. Political conflict or not, this issue goes way beyond any of the petty stuff. It's for the good of eJapan, and eJapan should come first.
Comments
I agree that more can be done, I have been actively searching for people to help with MoCHE things because I would like to keep the media alive as well, and I am one person. I cant do supplies, articles, and general education all by myself all at once. Unfortunately JS is a good part of the active players that actually enjoy the social part of this game, and leadership considers themselves a separate nation. As long as your leadership stays silent, divided and plays this forever waiting game, progress will be slow because you've only got a few players on the middle ground pushing for change.
I think making an article completely dedicated to bringing on someone else would be a good idea. You know, lay out what you're looking for, who can do it, what the responsibilities would be, generate some interest. You do what you can, unfortunately this is also greatly an issue with the current immigration policy. Our community is stagnating because new willing faces are not being brought in, in addition to there being little interaction to keep the people currently in eJapan in eJapan.
As far as I'm aware, there is nothing like a party-wide ban on participating in the government. It may not be the favorite thing of some people, but sometimes it's really hard to have a positive opinion on things when they've been bad for so long. Maybe it's just me, but I have a hard time not sympathizing.
Regrettably, with the way things are, it's always going to be slow. There are too many people with too many bad memories. We do what we can. Regardless of how slow it is, all of us who are going to try are going to try. Perhaps I'm dumb for doing so and maybe it's a pointless venture, but I plan on persevering regardless.
Well most of us that have left recently was asked to leave by leadership for participating and trying to make a difference. Obviously you can't ban activity. I was actively a part of JS while chicken was PP after all. SOS exists to push for many of the ideas that you state in your article, without having to worry about being on either side and silly party drama like that. Thus, I understand not sympathizing. We just want to make a difference as well.
I've been working on some proper structure for MoCHE, set roles & things so that if/when somebody else takes the reigns they will be able to stay organized and keep everything going. Perhaps once I get that finished I can look at making an article, as for now there is less organization than I would like.
Bringing people in has been slow. I've been pushing international events to try and create more interest for applicants for that reason as well. It is a personal goal for myself to have a more transparent immigration system.
That personally is not something I would support, and things have changed a bit since CG left. There has been so many deals in the past that have fallen through, so much so that many consider the working alongside part inconceivable. There's not much anyone can do about that. I believe there are merits to both parties, as well as a fair share of negative parts.
That is a very good idea. Organization makes everything easier. and I would very much like to see that article when the time comes. Seems like it would be the best way to hopefully bring another person on.
The international events have been great, but eJapan faces many reputation issues that will difficult to get past, and even if they did get past them, they'd still basically need to be eSerbian or eHungarian as it stands currently. Immigration and communication are at the top of my list as well, they come far before anything else, and they can only possibly benefit the community significantly.
Things have certainly changed without Chicken, that of course may be good or bad depending on your point of view...
It may seem like only serbs and huns get accepted, but not everything is as easily explained. Our wonderful new MoD after all is neither. In my opinion as somebody that is inside government and has seen the immigration process, the issue is transparency and organization.
Regardless, change is needed. Badly.
I agree, I hope that you will be a part of that change. o7
Thanks for the "wonderful" statement but I´m still new on this and I hope i can indeed earn that title in the end of the month. For now, lets focus in our virtues, on our good sides, while working to improve the things that need tuning... If we all help, changes will come, might not be as fast as you wish, but they will come.
Plus there´s also another side: you are judging that all should start from the government side, but thats isnt always right. The community could begin something and with the endorsement of it, the government might participate too.
I agree that there can be some coming from the community, but the government is where it all begins. By the very virtue that you guys are part of the government means you have knowledge and experience of matters and positions that most of the players have no exposure to. Thus you guys have significantly more ability to expand upon and communicate with the population.
Regarding people writing articles, it happens, this article is one such example of me communicating with the community. But it's difficult too, because the government is supposed to be our core, our centerpiece that promotes and drives activity. Without that, it's a struggle to get the rest.
If you really want something, you can do it, no excuses...back in the days, maybe 2 years or so ago. My daily routine was this:
1. Check active battles > writing MOD article and give Battle orders
2. Check MoSA sheet who applied for supplies > Send supplies
3. Check circular Congress message to see discussion, replying if needed.
4. Look up for MoCHE article material, then write an article...
5. There were channels by MoD, MoCHE and MoSA, where i was few hours online in order to give important info for any of those who are interested ( rarely or no people were coming there ).
I`m almost certain that i forgot some other things as it was long time ago. Back then, by many people that are in JS today, ex Tsunami, ex Shinsengumi party etc, i was considered...Oligarch? Really? Hard work is oligarchy? So after seeing that i`m putting too much effort to make this community work, i withdrawn...it was all for nothing...wasted days, months, maybe year or so...there were indeed few players who needed help...but much more lazy, ignorant, hating, racist people in today`s JS, that were ready for anything, even fighting vs. Japan. So...sorry for not believing that you can`t...it`s just that there is no motivation of any sort for you to do it...but that`s something you will have to find yourself...
O7
Good luck for You guys in eJapan.
Nice article and subsequent discussion. Can we clarify JS for all? There are a couple of units with the same letters.
