I remember a time when Americans absolutely refused to entertain the idea of surrender, appeasement, or cease fire with PEACE. That the idea of paying gold to reclaim territory was ridiculous and to even consider the idea borderline traitorous. I remember when rumors were spreading around that our last president Richard Harrison was considering such an agreement with PEACE, and the reaction from the American people helped remove him from office during the last election.
We accepted the idea that the USA was going to be completely occupied long before. So i ask you this... what has changed? Why has Emerick now gone down the path of appeasement? Why now when PEACE has been weakened from within with recent scandals? This treaty that Emerick supports will only serve one purpose. Temporarily revive the USA to a shadow of its formal self, and greatly finance PEACE so they can continue the war against Spain and other nations allied to us.
Canada went down fighting, are we not as brave as the Canadians?
When the tough gets going do we bow down like the UK in fear?
This treaty goes against everything the USA stands for, and back stabs our allies!
Congress prove your worth and impeach Emerick.

But I think its hilarious the treaty was refused by the Russians because they wanted more money then what was originally agreed to. Further reason why negotiations with PEACE is useless.
EDIT 2:
Portugal and Indonesia are still interested in peace.
Best case scenario they leave Russia to fight us alone and we can then reclaim all of our territories occupied by Russia. Hopefully this will help cause a rift between them in the future.

The treaty is cancelled anyway as russia wanted more gold.
I am sure quite a few people have entertained the idea of a treaty, they just kept it to themselves to avoid being flamed by the masses.
Even if Russia asked for less, this is unacceptable.

To be impeached, President Emerick has to break a law. Everything he did was quite within his power and legal.
Yeah, let's all have knee-jerk reactions and simply yell "impeach" when something offends our oh-so-blind egos. But now all is good ... everyone who wants to fight to the bitter end will get to do so ... Let's see how well that works out for us.
Yes, I would like to believe we can recoup, but that effort has completely failed to date. Only a fool repeats the same actions over and over expecting a different outcome. Perhaps I am in fact incorrect and we can chest-thump our way to victory -- prove it !
Maybe not illegal per se, but it is a justification for revolution or otherwise ousting the sovereign under just about any theory of justice. See John Locke.

There is no dishonor in accepting an agreement that both benefits our allies and allows us to rebuild our own economy and infrastructure.

Actually, as other countries have amply shown, "death" in this game is anything but. I would prefer to go down swinging. Does this mean I have an inflated ego? No, only that I would prefer us not to give in to PEACE.
The treaty, such as it was, gave us a 4 month reprieve. And that is all it would have been, a temporary safe harbor, during which time PEACE would have mopped up everywhere else and then returned to finish us off.
I do wonder how our allies will trust us again after this.

Rather bad examples, EVERYONE rememvers hitler, and he certainly has shaped today's world, even if that way is by himself not coming to global power(which PEACE itself seams to be doing)

I voted for impeachment. Ozy says he has to have broken a law, but think of all the people impeached for PTO reasons etc.
Not to mention he did not notify all Congressional members of the vote in Congress beforehand, and therefore only 23 members of Congress voted in time (we have 51, albeit some retired).

Impeachment would be inappropriate after congress passed the treaty, and that Russia has rejected the treaty while the rest of PEACE is trying to accept it may divide the alliance. This may accidentally be a diplomatic coup. PEACE is not monolithic, treating it as such will not help us win.

If you intend to go down swinging, you should tell your citizens to stop flooding the forums with messages asking (often aggressively demanding) for PEACE to stop the war. It is jading public opinion against you, and is beginning to erode the will of PEACE members to accept any future concessions with the eUSA.
From what I've seen the only disadvantages to being in PEACE are that you sometimes have to go abroad to help out in a battle...

Anyway, once the superpowers within PEACE take over the entire world (as you believe they are attempting) all the member states will effectively become individuals again. With no enemy, PEACE splits up or the game fails.
Contrary to logic, the best way to end superalliances is for all countries to join one.
I will be watching your soldiers swinging the flag desperately at the invaders and applauding you determination, if not your method.
