Minister of Industry - Update
Joey Development Scheme
Hello Aussie citizens,
The past 2 weeks have been very hectic with many things happening; I was promoted to Minister of Industry from deputy since Corny had some RL matters which made him not very active. The new forum has been created and published; also the Indo talks have been taking place for the new agreement.
Hospital
There is only 20 days (give or take a couple) until the hospital reaches its finishing date. However, in an effort to save time and money we are still looking for skill 4+ workers for the hospital to relieve the skill 3 workers of their work and loss of wellness (remember you lose 5 wellness working in the hospital and low skills don't earn much money).
Australian Food Problems
As you my have notice there has been a high demand in Q3, 4 and 5 foods on the Aussie market, most people rarely see the food. This is because of the shortage of companies and shortage of skilled workers.
But not just that, i have been checking the Human Resources each day and some Q1 and Q2 companies have been offering larger wages then our high Q companies. This is ridiculous and these low Q companies won't be able to handle them high wages and will end up going bust.
Also another thing I have picked up that was rather disturbing, the Q1 food price is ridiculously high, it was up to the price of $1.30 not too long ago. I ended up sending messages to about 7 companies asking them to lower there price down. I got a few responses and thankfully the prices did end up dropping but I expect it will go back up sooner or later.
The RRP (Recommended Retail Price) is only $1, which is a good price to keep our new citizens healthy.
RRP Chart
The RRP (Recommended Retail Price) Chart is going through the senate, and will be published soon.
Any questions or advice for your company do not hesitate to PM me or corny-ratbag.
Thanks.
scotywest
Minister of Industry.

@taytaz - Behind that large mound of kangaroo dung over there! *points*
Good interim work there...! and the prices are back to about $1.05 for Q1 food!!!
WE NEED MORE Q4 and 5 FOOD... idea - lower import tax, or send incentives to other companies around the world with the better quality food to sell in eAustralia!
Very nice
Impressive Scotywest
While food is in high demand in Australia, what about lowering the import tax by about half? I believe this would keep our own companies able to be competitive without going under. This, or increasing the capacity for Australian internal food seems fairly essential. Feel free to tell me I'm wrong though.
well...i personally don't care whether australia bourgeois are profitting or overseas are...so why not?
I preposed lowering the import trariff a few days ago , It never came to a vote .
Senator Bilbarus
no there is now point lowering the import tax it will just ruin our businesses. I do not want that.
To find more workers for higher q food companies shouldnt the government just bring in some training companies to help build the necessary skills, there arent any food jobs for low skilled workers at the moment. Nice article though.
Newbie question, so if it makes me sound stupid remember that it means other newbies *don't* have to look stupi😛
Company directors need to be rank 9+, yes? Which means that they have very high skills, but can't use those skills while directing their companies?
Why not offer for the OZ govt to act as a 'holding company', nominally owning companies so that their true owners can work for a while, using and honing their skills? Just gift the profits to the true owner each day, and return the companies whenever the true owner needs to make management decisions.
I'm guessing that most ownes would want to work in their own companies, but it would still boost the entire economy.
Reasons this wouldn't work?
@Tim: we have training companies search for 'Centrelink'.
Whitelaughter: most company directors (known as General Managers or GMs) have organisations which cost 5 gold. Organisations can do everything a citizen does except eat, work, train or vote. Most GMs work in there companies and hte GM is their org.
Yeah good Work mate, thanks for keepin us up to date.
Can I propose the creation of an ACCC-type organisation to provide information to consumers regarding RRP for all consumable items (especially food, but tix, weapons & others as well?)
I get the feeling that some companies get away with unreasonablre prices simply becasue of a lack of knowledge (esp amongst newbies) about what a reasonable price actually is?
Recommended prices are provided automatically by the game for the monetary market - why not REGULAR updates from the govt/ACCC/whatever for all other commodities? This is a serious issue affecting our nations economy, health and productivity & needs to be addressed urgently.
@whitelaughter: Citizens level 10+ can create their own Organizations to do precisely what you propose. Yes, it seems really stupid of this game to let you be able to create a Company before you can create and Organization so you can manage it while still working productively for it. You should be able to do those two things at the same time. I have heard of many a newbie sink their gold into creating a Company as soon as they can only to find that they because totally dependent upon the immediate success of their company to get a positive cash flow into their own pockets so they can afford silly things like Food.
Although we Australians approve of most Socialist proposals, forming a government holding company for citizens to invest their money into to form a company smacks a bit too much of Communism. What if the wrong people should take over the government? Political takeovers by a foreign power is always a danger. Romanians can move in here in droves, vote themselves into power, and then all your government owned companies become theirs. Don't put it past them. The Romanians would love to create a second front against Indonesia, striking at its underbelly from Australia. That's why so many unauthorized Resistance Wars are started in Australia.
Thanks for your comments and explanations! Will be careful not to buy a company until have org and reserve funds. Are there any managers who don't have orgs? They probably need help to get out of their curretn problems.
And fair point CQL, I read about what happened to the Phillippines. Still, that can be remedied by devolving resources to their true owners before each election.
IsDonIsGood's point is a very good one! The cost of food pushes up everybody's wages, which pushes up costs for business, which in turn pushes food prices up! It's counterintuitive, but low cost food from overseas will benefit everybody, even our own food producers! Seriously, read up on the Corn Laws to see what happens if you try to restrict food supplies...
High wages are driving up prices in this case . This whole labor shortage began when we aquired the new companies that came with NT
Bil
nice work
Unicity followed scotywest's request to set the price for Q1 food at $1-1.1. We have pretty high wages for our employees, going for no profit right now to help them increase their wellness level. After another couple of days in which we hope to form a stable team with good manufacturing skills and high wellness level we will try to increase the quality of the products.
Regarding average wellness, eAustralia could really use some practice wars with eIndonesia - the only option I guess. Increasing wellness from 40-50 to 100 only through high quality food or gifts it's a painful process.
