A look back and forward

Day 1,080, 19:56 Published in Belgium USA by MaryamQ

Dear eBelgium,

On the eve of our next presidential election, I want to thank you for the trust you have placed in me to lead you for the last month and the hard work many of you have done to help us meet our goals. When I looked at the home page on my first log-in of the day and saw the banner exclaiming “All national goals have been accomplished. Belgium is victorius!”, I was thrilled, not because of my achievement, but because of yours. Those national goals were chosen with some thought, trying to make them a little difficult but not impossible to reach. Our citizens, new and old, have joined forces to make it happen, and we have had fun doing it. I cannot leave this office without giving credit where it is due to my wonderful Cabinet for their energy and creativity, making eBelgium a better place for everyone in so many ways! In the Ministry of Education and Culture, under temujin94 and Ernest Bogdansson, we have had new programs to nurture our new citizens and to bring fun to the national forum. In the Ministry of Finance, under Boklevski, we have had careful accounting and reporting to you, the people, about where your money is and what is being done with it. In the Ministry of National Security, under Thore Thoreson, we have had a new monitoring of citizenship requests and a beginning at reorganizing our military. In the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under Theneka, we have had negotiations that brought you our first MPPs and battles since V2. Additionally, Congress and private citizens have made efforts to develop new programs, including a revision of our New Citizen Message (still in the works), a new look at several aspects of our tax structure, ARC with its Food For Young Fighters program, and Dawn Studios with its offerings in art and film. We are also in the process of reviewing and revising our national constitution to fit with present realities.

While all of these people and more have made great contributions to our successes this month, there is one single person who has been a greater help than any other, and that person is ThomasRed. He has been a reliable source of advice for this president who has had virtually no experience in foreign relations, negotiating the proposals for our MPPs and presenting them to Congress. He provided the inspiration for our fundraising program and gave it tremendous support with the backing of Belgium for Belgians. He offered a program for tracking new babies to the MoEC. He advised me on the project to rewrite our constitution. In short, he has shown himself to be knowledgeable and interested in almost every aspect of our national life.

I was honored when I was asked to run for CP, and even though I had never envisioned myself in this position, it has been a great adventure for me. I am flattered that some of you would like me to continue, but I have no regrets and no qualms about passing the torch to ThomasRed. He has skills, contacts and experience way beyond mine, and has been most generous in sharing them, not only this month, but throughout the history of eBelgium. I am pleased that he is willing to share his government with me, and will do my best to serve his administration as he has served mine, but let it be known that I truly believe he is the right man to lead you, and he has earned this opportunity by months of devotion to the cause of eBelgium.

He has already outlined his, or I should say our, vision for this coming month in his announcement of his candidacy. Our skills and interests are complementary, and we work well as a team. That should make the transition from one administration to the next essentially seamless, a great advantage in this game where elections come around every month, and it will also mean that much of the work that has been started this month will be continued without interruption.

Thank you again, eBelgium, for your support throughout my time here, and especially this last month. Vote for ThomasRed, and you will be in good hands.
