[KHMC] The KnightHawk Way

Day 2,099, 03:34 Published in Australia Australia by Lord TJ

APP President Marcos Arolia recently put out a great article that I encourage others to read.

I really appreciate Marcos' very respectful comments about KnightHawks and I completely agree we are of similar mind in terms of openness and respect. Over time, it's not unusual for many citizens who come from KHMC and APP originally to swap over and try the other.

There is one major difference, however, and it's nothing at all negative, but it does offer a differing viewpoint between the two parties.

The one major difference between the APP and the KHMC is the legislative process.

The APP has a lot to be proud of and as current KHMC President and a former APP leader, I can attest to the opportunities APP provide members with its unique law making and caucus voting system. APP is definitely a place to consider if folks have a mind for making laws.

That said, KHMC's primary purpose is significantly different on that front. KHMC doesn't consider itself a legislative house in the same way as perhaps APP do. The best way I can find to explain, in fair comment, is that you'll rarely see KHMC push wholesale legislation as a party to a line vote, whereas drafting laws and proposing law changes is the APP's bread and butter.

Our members are encouraged to make use of the individual opportunities available to them and to aspire to their highest ideals and help them to achieve along the way. However, we are not a bloc partisan movement on legislation and we vote individually.

As a party we learned a great deal from our membership in the now-defunct Coalition of eAustralian Political Parties. It sent a powerful message to major parties to be inclusive of others, operate in an open light and have the courage to pursue.

HISTORY

Today, the KHMC has returned home to its foundational intent as an extension of the greater KnightHawks movement. It's game family and social first. We're less about being a law setter and more about just playing the game and being a help to our friends.

I certainly hope this article is received in the positive spirit it was written. If anything, it's good where there are identified differences so that people can pick and choose from a selection. I believe there's a lot we do share in common and both parties have a track record that each can be rightly proud of. It's an honour to be in the company of such patriots.
