[EXTRA/EDITORIAL] MU Squabble

Day 1,776, 14:28 Published in Japan Japan by ahava3233

Howdy, it's your friendly neighborhood ahava3233 here. In any event, yeah I've been two-clicking for a while due to the lack of recent activity but as I've been on for a while today (I tried to BH hunt today but SoFresh (one of the Serbs that came here last month, but apparently has now left) hit super high like over 1M in Div II, s/he deserves the BH; SoFresh, enjoy it) I wanted to comment and give an editorial piece about the current state of affairs here in eJapan.

I'm quite flabbergasted at the fact that the Military Unit organization is still a major point of contention here in the country. I figured things would be settled by now but seems like they're not in the least bit. Most of the articles I've read in the past 2 days have been about the MU issue; Geezus trying to prove that his MU (Nippon Power) is awesome and deserves supplies (see here), how the MU issue is splitting the country somewhat (see here), and furthermore divisive politics as you can read here with people basically dividing the country into the Geezus camp and the non-Geezus camp for CP election, etc, etc.

In any case, I don't see why this is even a point of contention; there is only about ¥10000 in the treasury and the last donation to the NBoJ was over a month ago. It seems like due to the runaway deflation occurring right now as well as our isolation as a landless country (greatly reducing the customer base of our citizens) the government is effectively broke unless somebody is hiding a ton of funds or there is a substantial source of unreported income. The government should probably declare bankruptcy and shut the system down for now otherwise; it doesn't seem the least bit sustainable. Either that or I'd like to hear from the MoF about what the government currently has left in terms of funding.

Furthermore, moving forward, I know this might be a long shot but I think we need to work harder to work together here. If this MU system is going to be such a major problem then maybe once we have more tax income, the government should reorganize the MU system back to what it was or to something a bit more inclusive. As I've heard from Squibeel one possibility besides going back to the old system (JNF) is to go fully MU blind. This might require more paperwork than the current system (and some self-reporting by citizens) but due to the current small amount of activity such bureaucracy might be sustainable. It would also encourage more activity due to reporting requirements, something we might be able to use. The more activity we have, the faster we'll be able to free Japan and reclaim sovereignty over the home islands.

That's all for now folks. Please vote up this article if you liked it and feel free to subscribe to my personal newspaper, Gougai/号外/Extra for more of my articles. Also feel free to leave a comment, thanks!
