[ESO] The Party President Primary: Discussion
Hell The Great
As I mentioned last time we're running a primary this month. This is where we decide before election day, who we as a party should support.
We normally do this for Congressional elections (if we are running with another party), and for Presidential elections (so we can as a party try to find a common ground that we're all comfortable with). However for Party Presidential elections, we always let the game itself serve as the be all and end all poll. These days, however, it has become clear that we cannot trust some elements within the UK right now, and also ourselves.
So, this month we have two choices (everyone else is way too late! run next month) for your consideration.
miniman7 has been in ESO for a while, and promises cross his heart and hope to die that he won't be as awful as Sarah. He wants to ensure GWU is rolled out as soon as possible, recruit and have some fun, but the main summary I would take from his article (which you can read using the link above) is quite simple - he won't be as awful as Sarah.
Ash Brandon is also running. Ash will first restore the original name and description back to what it was, and implement recruitment drives. Ash also wants to revert to the use of the offsite forum, using it as a compliment to the game itself. He has also outlined who he would like to fill the supporting roles, and has an almost impeccable choice of Vice Party Presidents.
Suffice to say, I delayed the beginning of this because candidates couldn't get their articles out in time. Thus, I propose the following;
- 2 Days discussion (from the posting of this article, which is roughly 03:30 erep time 9th April)
- 1 Day for candidates to write a further article/response to the discussion
- 1 Day of voting
This would mean our discussion ends on April 11th, 03:30 erep time. Our candidates would have until April 12th, 03:30 to publish or publicise their response(s) (however they see fit), and we would have a vote organised from April 12th 03:30 until April 13th 03:30. This would then give the losing candidates 45 hours to remove their candidacy for the good of the party, and for us to ensure we're all supporting the person who won our primary.
To save on time, and of course ensure there is no duplication of effort in posting opinions/etc all over the place, THIS ARTICLE will serve as the base for discussion; post your comments on the candidates in the comments section, and we can hopefully get a debate going. Good luck to both candidates, to stay impartial as I'm running the primary, I won't be posting what I myself think (which is as always, vote jamesw).

Ash Brandon sounds good, but there does seem to be genuine concerns about his activity. I think we need a safe and solid pair of hands this month, namely miniman
My activity was a failure over the last few months, but I have come back to eRepublik due to an empty schedule. I log on everyday (work, train, fight) and will continue to do so until I become bored again. However, if I do have a position to fulfill, I will most definitely be working as hard as I can.
No you don't login every day at all.

If you worked or fought you would have gained xp every day. That's clearly not the case.
Yeah, eGov doesn't really show you as being active enough to be a PP imo
Dan, why do you think that gaining xp determines a person's activity? So what if they don't train or fought? Is that really any of YOUR business? If people wanted to know my experience stats, then they can find out themselves. Please, go back to TUP and put your nose in your party's business.
Because you don't play the f-ing game? How are you going to get ESO players helping the UK when you don't yourself.
Hey I bet my egov picture is similar but I'm not running for a PP.
As an impartial Skatalite I'd suggest miniman. He looks like a solid contender.
Also Jamesw, sort out his link, you've cocked it up and it looks terrible. We can only blame you for that!
I have no idea what you're talking about.............
BLAME WAYNE
He was my next option.
I also do share the concern aired by others about Mr. Ash’s activity. Is it really enough to ensure a month of progress for the party?
But before I make up mind I have one question for both candidates, and I hope you both will answer: How do you see combining recruitment and rebuilding the party alongside ensuring “Uci Srpski” does not get in a position to run a list for congress? Will one task be chosen over the other, if yes, which? Please elaborate
I think hopefully the UKPP will be taken back from the PTOers on the 15th, so it won't be an issue 🙂
I would not underestimate serbians will and ability to creat just enough multies for key dates..
and we've been pretty good at spotting and reporting them so far, just shy of 20 accounts banned so far and we're always watching now.
It all depends on how things on the 15th. If "Uci Srpski" remains PTO'd then we will focus on pushing for Uci Srpski to not get a position for Congressional elections. However, if the party becomes original again (back to UKPP), then I think the parties main focus should be on recruitment AND member retention for the Congress elections.
Thanks for the question Dave.
We will need to take a careful balance between the two.
Ultimately if a party (eg UKPP or whatever they call themselves) have suffered a PTO then it is the responsibility of all the eUK to deal with it, much like that happened this past month.
With a credible leadership at the head of the party, we can potentially show ourselves to be a suitable berth for the UK population, much on the same way that WRP were this past month.
We have lost a larger proportion of our headcount following the "Wombles and Otters" taking over. We need to win them back by rebuilding the community spirit, and also through an excellent support mechanism such as GWU. We can also use this as a launchpad for attracting and then retaining newer members of the population.
In summary. Recruit and attract for the first week, and then see the political landscape that presents itself, and where we fit in it.
I fully support Miniman atm.
I was mentioned by name in Ash's manifesto and given a position I never applied for, nor has he ever contacted me.
Good to get a full image of the candidates
It was an article to outline who I would like to fill the position. However, as stated in the article, you can either accept or decline the nominate and then I will replace you accordingly.
Cheers Rodders!!
If I am successful, I will appreciate your support even if you are not able to commit to a party official role.
Is this really the best you guys can do? Can't find an active candidate when it's most needed.
Should all just join a proper party if things are really this bad.
You're getting as bad as Goku Dan....
Dan does have a point though.
Dan, if you think you could do better, then come over here and prove it instead of throwing a fit.
A player who's never been PP of a party, vs a player who's not been an ESO PP. It may not be the same as someone who has been PP a ton vs someone who has been PP almost as much, but then not everyone is interested in Kravenn vs Bohemond every other month.
I can do better and have already proven it 3 times as TUP PP.
James, you know as well as I do that these candidates aren't up to scratch. Doesn't matter how old they are, just how good they are.
The best candidate is a guy whose main aim is to be a bit less terrible than a PTOer. Hardly inspiring.
Why is it only ESO sarcasm that you don't get?
a proper party like TUP? .... now that you mention.... TUP might have a bright future among goats.... and ESO has one ! You could recruit kevin the goat.
Dan is right. Having two parties which are almost big enough for top 5 with poor PP election candidates is a dangerous PTO risk. As we saw last month.
Good. Luck to all participating. as PP. o7
