[DoFA] Australia's relationship with South Africa
Joey Development Scheme
Department of Foreign Affairs
Yesterday, a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Cottus Arci, deputy MoFA - Jasper Ferguson and South Africa's President Mark Morcom took place to discuss the events of last month. While none of us are happy with South Africa's decision last month to bend to pressure from Brazil, it is important to maintain perspective on why they did it and what can be learned from it moving forward.
South Africa has been wiped off the map in recent months, suffered a PTO of their government and struggled to regain control of their original regions. It is easy to criticize them and find fault, but hostility between our nations is not in our long term interest. South Africa is trying to remain neutral, a course that Australia took for many months as well (and successfully, I might add). We however have found out over time who our friends really are. It is not Phoenix, who moved its tanks to Brazil to help with the invasion of Australia. It is not Sol, who regardless of intentions is not strong enough to provide it's members with security. Our friends are those that came to our rescue when Brazil invaded, those same friends that help Australia regain its regions once again.
Our future is with those friends, in Eden. It is time that Australia take its rightful place at the table of this alliance. It is time that we as a nation step up and support those nations that are always there for us. Neutrality is for countries too weak to stand up for what it is right, too afraid to put convictions and principles above fear and short term security.
Our success in resisting the invasion has resulted in Brazil retreating across the African continent and not only declaring peace with South Africa, but also finding that they need an MPP to ensure that Australia will not seek vengeance or be in a position to convince South Africa to allow us to "protect them from a PTO threat".
Brazil
South Africa
Make no mistake, this is a move that is done out of fear of reprisal, not out of any new-found love of South Africa by Brazil.
I'd ask that you remember this in regards to South Africa. They did what they did out of fear. Our true enemies are Brazil and the countries of Phoenix that sent them support during the invasion of our sovereign soil. While holding a grudge against South Africa is understandable, they are not the true enemy.

I concur - as satisfying as getting some payback on eSA would be, its in our best interest to put it all behind us and move forward.
I agree with your sentiments. eSA is not our enemy.
eSouth Africa may not have intentionally screwed us over with eBrazil and the fact that South Africa sent their troops to fight with us is proof that they side with us. But they still refuse to allow us to get back at Brazil and have even signed an mpp with our current enemy. Whether or not the region swapping was the right decision shouldn't matter. What does matter, however, is that eSouth Africa as a fellow Sol nation should be trying to help us out, not bowing to eBrazil and effectively blocking us. They know that we value our allies and are not a nation of conquerors and we pose them no threat, so we get the short end of the stick once again.
1) Invade SA to get to Brazil
2) Crush Brazil
3) Keep SA regions, to protect them from themselves
4) ????
5) Profit!!
I dont have a poor view of south africa, if you look both of our histories you find a great number of similarities.
Both wiped from the map,
Both retook MOST of our countries through diplomacy,
and like or not their were quite a few ppl in this country ready to side with a country who still controlled part of our soil and join indo in PEACE.
Voted!
Welcome to EDEN.
Voted. Great article Jasper.
So will our new found south african friends allow us to do a landswap so we can invade the last Brazilian bastion in Africa?
mmm probably not...
agreed!
why doesn't SA attack Brazil and then we will be there for them and so will our allies. Then SA can get larger and have more territories
I agree with this completely! eBrazil has used and abused us citizens of eSA for far too long! I want to aid you in your fight, and take Brazil down a notch!
Vote up my article pertaining to this so that all of eSA can hear your anger!

Who said what about invading indoneasia?
please? once you enter EDEN?
south africa is evil, their too good at rugby...
🙂
Release them from their fear. I say attack.
About the image - it is an offence in the real Australia to use Coat of Arms for any identification (electronic or otherwise) without the consent of the appropriate department... and yes I know this is only a game.
I think the rules of the game are that we can use any image at our own risk.
If the image has copyright, or is a trademark etc, and the company who legally owns the image wants it removed then we have no choice.
But don't worry, because we will attack, and conquer their company.
I feel our best interest lay in helping SA to become strong enough to present a resonable buffer state .

Bad idea 🙂 SA didnt do anything much sneaky in the past. You cant punish someone just becouse they didnt meet the agression openly. As long as they are not direct enemy why would someone invade their lands? EDEN is not PEACE or PHOENIX to use tactics like these. I aint crying my eyes out over destenies of Germany,France,Slovenia,Bulgaria,...they had it coming. They played along the notes of their Hungarian masters and blew the first strikes. This is just a late reaction to these.
Some things you might want to consider while propagandizing, especially when your rhetoric is false. You speak of what is right and wrong, but aren't EDEN nations in possession of territories that do not belong to them, right this minute? Aren't they fighting "revenge" wars against countries in a very PEACE/Phoenixesque way?
Poland in Peru and Germany. Romania in Bulgaria. Spain attacking both France and Italy, soon, I suspect. How about Belgium? The UNL?
You're doing what you're doing because you feel it is safer and I respect that. However, call a spade a spade and use your past experiences once you're at that EDEN "table" in order to better its actions of late.
Good luck,
A Malaysian General that fought for Australia. One of MANY Malaysians that have fought for Australia.
Wait, you say Sol is not even your friends?
"Neutrality is for countries too weak to stand up for what it is right, too afraid to put convictions and principles above fear and short term security."
Extremely huge WTF. Last time I checked Sol nations never invaded or PTOed other nations. This can't be said about EDEN at all. What principles are we talking about? Moralizing in the context of putting EDEN above Sol? This is weird to say the least.

^ My article on SA relations with Brazil and the necessity with an alliance with Australia, vote it up!
@ Nagyzee - you make a valid point there mate. I can only assume that that part was poorly written because I don't think there are very many eAussies who believe that Sol hasn't been a friend to us.

@ Liquid Oxygen - Although EDEN may not be everyone's best friend - They have helped us out to keep our nation safe from an enemy that is more powerful than we could handle on our own. To us they have shown tremendous sacrifice and friendship. IMO EDEN is the best choice of allies we could have. Even though it will be a shame to leave Sol.

Let me make this clear as there seems to be some confusion over this. South Africa is a member of Sol. South Africa region swapped to allow the invasion of Australia. No repercussions were implemented by Sol against South Africa for its actions. For me personally, this makes the alliance to be of limited worth, at best.
Hail EDEN
lol @ LO, former American who left because he was butthurt about some things. EDENs philosophy is really this, destroy everyone that hurt us, or destroy whoever is in Phoenix, an alliance that colonized your allies in Asia for money. EDEN came in and liberated MANY Phoenix held regions. I really wouldn't listen to LO, since he left America he has had a vendetta against EDEN.
Jasper Ferguson, what you say seems to me to be a well crafted lie. South Africa didn't region swap with Australia to allow the Brazilian invasion but to fight a PTO threat. They were tricked by Brazil. Yes, they made a huge mistake but saying that they did the region swaps knowing what Brazil would use them for is simply not true.
@Nagyzee
your kidding right. Did you actually see the Contract between SA and Brazil. It's a joke. It could be one of the dodgiest contracts I've ever seen.
on top of that when Ines wrote her article explaining the region swaps I pointed out that Brazil wouldn't care about the contract. She basically told me I was wrong....... Well we all know how that turned out
