Greetings Ladies and Gentleman,
Today was a bad day for me, I woke up this morning and saw a forum post stating, from one of the PP's, that the July elections were cancelled. This greatly distressed me and going solely of this announcement, I wrote an article condemning it and asking many questions without knowing all the facts. This was a bad idea and it has since come back to haunt me. I make no claims to being the one that should be informing you of the news. I simply write my best and hope that the citizens will enjoy it enough to keep coming back. If I have lost readers, my apologies and I will do my best to not make this mistake again. To those who commented, thank you for your words, harsh or otherwise. Though I would ask you to remember that you were once new at this, and mistakes happen.
Again, my sincerest apologies,
Daniel Dodge

BEWARE: PEACE MEMBER POSTING
"in RL"
This is not RL. This is a game.
"USWP maintaining 50% of the Congressional Seats"
How neat for the USWP.
Democracy in the US died today. You will get used to it. It died about 6 times in Hungary until now (Shaok, Quicksilver, Mikrobi and many can sing a song about this).
"For those who haven't found out already, most of the major party presidents have agreed that the July Congressional Elections are to be cancelled."
How do you cancel a gameplay mechanic? If you are all preventing PTO's around the world, guess who will move in on that 😛
I understand why they're doing it, but didn't Peace fail their last attempt to infiltrate eUSA? It seems to me that our congressman and President are doing a fine job, and I would have voted for them anyway.
We're becoming a fascist state, enjoy our out of game primaries that "pre-selects" the winner of a state.
Thank you Daniel, for a very thoughtful article. I think you’re very far from being “un-American,” so don’t worry about that.
I too have serious misgivings about this. I’m hoping there will be some kind of official announcement soon to offer an explanation, and I’m trying to withhold judgment until then. That said, I’m leaning towards deep disappointment. I believe healthy democratic debate and competition are essential in order to ensure that we have the best possible leadership, particularly in times of crisis.
"On July 25th, if we are busy preventing PTO's around the globe, who will be here to protect American assets?"
As long as the American command is well organized and issues two tickets to each traveler, this isn't an issue. It is standard procedure in many foreign e-armies, even during wartime, to give soldiers two tickets: one to go abroad to vote somewhere, and one to return and fight.
Back before PEACE went aggressive I resided in eItaly; a month or two ago the eUSA (or, a lot of eAmericans at least) teamed up with Theocracy to attempt a PTO of eItaly (the Spaghetti Party). Epic fail, but the name was funny.
Few things. Emerick is Secretary of State, One Eye is my Vice President.
If all parties don't agree, as far as I'm concerned, we won't go forward.
1) I think that's a good thing. We're willing to quit playing politics to win the game, just for 1 day.
2) Most of our citizens would remain home in the proposed plan.
3) I don't think the Admins will make citizenship in 9 days time...
4) I have no idea.
Also, there is a plan in place that wouldn't take away anyone's voice. We'd just vote earlier via a different system.
Where to begin: Your misconceptions are appalling as is your lack of understanding of game mechanics.
You don't know the details of any discussions that have taken place obviously. The USWP would be giving up more than any other party in order for the current plan to be implemented. Why are we willing to do this? Because the security of the nation is first and foremost our top priority. As soon as the war is over, I can assure you that we will all go back to bashing each others brains in over stupid political ideals as we always have before.
Would you rather have us fight over Congressional representation during a war, leaving ourselves and our allies open to a PTO or come together for the good of the nation? You're acting like a malcontent little child.
When people talk about things they don't know about trouble starts.
A few things:
"Congressional Elections are to be cancelled"
This isn't what is happening. Each party is holding elections in whatever form suits their party best prior to the date of in game elections and then those candidates are being run on election day. So they are just being held early.
" the USWP maintaining 50% of the Congressional Seats"
We don't have 50% now and we are decreasing our delegation under the new election system. Part of the point of this is to decrease party hackery but I guess it dies hard.
As to your questions:
1. This sends a message that Hun and Indo must fear for their own elections and that our allies can plan to continue to support us in this war. This is not RL one of the most powerful weapons PEACE has is their PTO squad and with the US free to participate that stage will change. This shows our enemies this giant is truely awake and that they will soon wish it stayed sleeping.
2. I don't even know what this means. Are you worried they are going to come rob us? You can fight and then move somewhere else to vote....
3. No we don't need them.
4. The PotUS elections have NEVER been under the scope of this plan. Though I can't speak for the future at this moment they are scheduled to use the game mechanics as opposed to an outside system.
I ask you to question exactly why you published this article. When you seem to know so little it seems odd to appoint yourself as the one who should inform America.
Wow. There’s no need to bash Daniel over this. Surely it’s at least worth a respectful discussion, whether you think he’s right or not.
Hog-tie me and march me out of the country if you want, but I’m disappointed that two sitting congressmen find it necessary to speak in such condescending and insulting terms to a well-meaning, concerned American citizen. If he’s uninformed, it’s because no one has adequately informed us yet.
I do support Daniel's decision to publish such an article and he and I are friends (at least I would say we are) - so hopefully he doesn't take this personally.
All citizens are allowed to ask questions and if Daniel had questions about this system he could have asked them, but if a citizen publishes an ill informed article they have opened themselves to correction and if it comes with a little condescension that's probably because they didn't check what they're saying first.
Again Daniel, nothing personal here, but when you put yourself on a public stage you are open to public criticism.
Aldric and Bing, thank you. I understand that I am on a public stage and open to criticism, frankly when I published this I knew that criticism would follow. Also, I should perhaps have taken some more time to think about what I was writing before doing so.
@Pres. Richardson: Sorry for the misprint on positions held in the administration, it was simply a misprint. Also thank you for responding, though I am sure this article displeased you. Though I would say that if all parties must agree, then we would seemingly not need them anymore. I respect your points and would like to say to not only you but all who posted that I wrote this going off of an announcement made on a forum, no more, no less. Should I have tried to learn more before publishing, yes. Was it rash of me, yes. Does it open me up to ridicule, yes. I realize this is not RL, I would hope most do. I will make more effort in the future to research things adequately, though as I currently hold no kind of rank in our government, I do not have access to privileged information that has not been published for the general public.
@Zcia: I never appointed myself the one to inform America, that is supposed to be the government's job. I have tried my best to be informed in my articles, this one was a mistake and I understand that.
My apologies to all offended.
Everyone has the right to speak their mind. If they're wrong, calmly pointing it out will go much further than being rash and insulting.
@ Daniel
Daniel, uh, you were right, and HR actually went into the talks to push this plan, so you don't need to apologize for anything.
This is such bull, now AI can't run for Congress 🙁 I worked so hard to reach level 12, using this crappy hotel computer because I'm on vacation, then I log in and here this bull.
For the record, the LIBs are not 100% on board with this. I have decided to let the LIB people decide in a poll which will be up shortly. Our stance will be decided in 2 days when the poll closes.
Thank you Claire for the update, don't lament yet, from what some others have PM'd me with, there may not be cause for anger, lets wait and see what the government says (I know, advice I should have listened to myself)
