The German Relief Fund
scrabman
Almost 3 weeks ago I wrote about my formation of the German Relief Fund that was meant to allow individual citizens to help the war-torn Germany to rebuild its hospital.
German Relief Fund
http://www.erepublik.com/en/organization/1514908
This fund has received about 40 donations to date and has the equivalent of approximately 54 GOLD held in trust for Germany (51.71 GOLD + currencies). You can see the donations list here if you are interested and donations can still be made.
The purpose of this article is to inquire of those who have donated (and who intend to still donate) what should be done with this fund?
Of course, the simple answer is to turn it over to the new Germany that has formed out of the ashes of the former one. But there are different ways to do this. I had planned, originally, to turn the OR over to the German Government so that they could continue to raise funds with the OR and through publicity such as this. It will take a while before they can replace that Q5 hospital that they lost and I'm sure all donations will be helpful toward that goal.
Thus, please feel free to continue to donate to the fund and please give me your opinions, in the comments to this article, about where these funds should be sent or how the funds should be turned over to the purpose to which they were intended. I don't want to mismanage these funds by giving them to the wrong people or having any question about their appropriate use.
Thank you.
scrabman - eUSA President
Note: This fund is not an official eUSA government action or support of Germany. It is a representation of the efforts of private citizens and is funded as such. Any official support is independent of this funding raising drive.

Not sure what else other than hand the keys over to Gobba. Maybe help to mend some bad feelings there.
Damn Scrab just had to be a Lawyer and get some small type in there 😛 Voted
Donate it to the German Government. They can use it.
Buy wood from USA and donate the wood to the german hospital company. That way both US and German economy gain from the donations made.
Any help is very welcome 🙂
and will go toward paying for a hospital!
Best and easiest is to transfer the funds directly to the German Bundesbank
The German President knows best.
But in case you can't find the German Bundesbank's link, I know the Bundeswehr is collecting for the same purpose as well, and they have an article at http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/reconstruction-wiederaufbau-832334/1/20" target="_blank">http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/reco[..]/1/20
"I don't want to mismanage these funds by giving them to the wrong people or having any question about their appropriate use."
Maybe Scrabman is trying to question the legitimacy of the current eGerman government and was thinking about sending the money to e😜resident shoot and councilor Hansg 🙂
I dont' mind selling my wood to the german hospital company as Kape proposed. Our wood companies need all the help they can get.
Oh Grakulan ... what are you going to do when I'm no longer President and you have no real reason to troll my articles any longer?
I'm the fiduciary of funds that were donated for a specific purpose. I know that's a big word for you but a "fiduciary" has a duty to make sure the funds are properly handled. I'm just asking how to handle them as there are lots of ways to do so and would like input from the donors (and the donees) about how to do so.
Go read malice in someone other article. I'm not here to judge the use of the funds ... just to carry out my duty.
Leave it to Grakulan to troll an article about fund-raising for a hospital. If this is how you spend your time, you need to get out of the house. Maybe you and Zoli can take a long walk together on a beach somewhere and let the sounds of the ocean waves wash away your bitterness.
I agree with Kape's suggestion, btw. Does anyone know the company that is building the hospital? I'd be happy to donate some wood.
I'm kind of liking the idea of using it to buy and donate wood to a German Hospital Company - better yet, you depending on funds, you a eUSA patriot entrepreneur could be sent to Germany to manage the construction of this newly created/purchased company so we have a stake in relations/gov't over there.
Donated and voted.
This is confusing *Hmmmmm* What would be your benefit from such action knowing that Germany will eventually side by PEACE? (Even though you said it's not official, but still .. )
I'm going with Kape and Harlot, sounds good.
While I'm not quite rich enough to help out with donations - I think there are many great options - first, asking them via this article was wonderful - hopefully they give opinions.
It is true that since eUS citizens are the primary donors - that just perhaps eUS could benefit as well? I like the idea of buying supplies from the eUS and then gifting those on over towards building a German hospital. I would presume eGermany wouldn't presume to oppose this as the end result is still the same: something for nothing.
Then, again, there's the fiscal conservative in me that says - give the money to the folks for which it was intended...but there's the capitalist in me trying to say - let's both get something out of this.
I support the idea of buying American wood to donate to the German hospital company. As suggested, that helps both countries' economies and accomplishes the help we are looking for.
You just regained a little respect from me, scrabman. What a good gesture. Of course, if we would have helped them out by fighting on their side, they wouldn't need this.
Very Good Scrabman
food q2 : 2.2 $ . pm me
You are an altruist.
I'm up for the donating wood. I think that's a wonderful way to make sure that the hospital gets built and that the gold doesn't go to inappropriate uses. 😃
I wouldn't go as far as altruism, but it is a nice gesture indeed. I donated. Good thinking scrab, but if we had been there to defend the Germans to begin with, the situation would be much better overall. So let's be generous a tad earlier next time. 😛
I gave some gold.
Captain Panther. I'd make the same decision on Germany again that I made last time. Because we didn't sink all of the USA's gold into Germany we were able to liberate Central Greece last week. It was a matter of priorities.
Let alone the fight between eGermany and eSweden was their fight. Both of them were allies to the eUS. Getting eUS involved military wise would've definitely have cut the ties from one or the other. Atleast this way, we have some sort of bridge still connected to either nation ( Even though eGermany was assisted by eHungary ).
Plus, scrabman did give anybody the go-ahead to assist eGermany as they liked. He just didn't make it official for eUS standards. Since A) Greece was being liberated, 😎 It'd cut the ties off to one of the two nations, C) Waste of resources either way.
In the end, it was a really bad war. And I'm glad that the eUS didn't get itself involved, otherwise it could've been even WORSE possibly ( Just imagine eSweden and ePoland being assisted by PEACE due to eUS's military intervention. Now that would've sucked. )
@ Eugene: Maybe you are the one who should get out more often, you're getting jumpy and defensive and start to overreact even to jokes - a clear symptom you might be infected with S.E.R.I.O.U.S. 🙂
@ Scrabman: When Uncle Sam was impeached I stopped commenting on his articles so much and switched to yours. I'm not questioning your handling of the relief fund, I was just making fun of your involvement with the people who made its creation necessary, so relax.
In all honesty, I would say you should wait, raise more money, then give it to whoever is president next term.
That way, we get more money, and you don't run the risk of giving the money to our lesser-of-two-evils president (He was elected against a TOer and no one else, so it wasn't really fair).
@BBJ: Gobba would have been the duly-elected president hadn't it been for the TO, so calling him "lesser-of-two-evils president" shows bias against him. Actually what you're suggesting implies that you or someone you know and support is planning to run for eGerman president - is that so?
Is the German government still "owned" by PEACE?
Well Grakulan, there is bias because he didn't win a fair race, he lost to a dirty traitor and there was no one else running.
Don't get me wrong; Gobba is a good fellow, and he is no crook. But at the same time, we need a real competition (this time, with no thieves stealing the party and changing the candidates)
@Kape
54 gold worth of wood? I admit I only have experience with a food company, but that sounds like way more than we would be able to use.
@Mumbly
The government never was, is not, and never will be 'owned' by PEACE.
@Billy Bob Joe
While Gobba did run relatively unopposed, I don't see any reason why that would make it a bad idea to give the money to the German government at this time. Gobba is a loyal German and will put the money to good use for our reconstruction.
It takes 20,000 units of wood to build a Q5 hospital.
Note to self.
