An Interview: Kia Or, Canadian Version

This game never ceases to amaze me. Humdrum affairs of make believe politics. An admin that seems hell bent on squashing any enthusiasm. Endless training wars. Worst of all, looking at my friends list and finding way more dead than living.
Today I talk with a new friend. Someone quite alive. A ray of hope to us all.

Why did you start playing eRep?
The truth is this account was first of my sister and when she decided to leave the game I took her place. I wanted to play this game because here you can be what you can't be in real life. Like the president of a country, and you can do many fun things like fight in wars, open party and make company.
What countries have you been citizen?
USA, Israel (my real life country) and UK.
Tell us, why do you like the UK?
I was in London once and I really like this city. I just like UK so cool amazing country
How is your real life country.
Israel is amazing country. I don't wanna get into politics right now cuz it won’t end, but there is so many cool places in Israel. Like the Western Wall and the North Golan that are so beautiful. There also is Tel-Aviv amazing beach!

I know you enjoy building houses.
I have a big house company called "Or City". I produce houses and sell them on market every few months. I make a listing of houses to post it in an article. People order houses from me and many times I got orders of 10-40 houses!

Producing Q1 - 4 houses in grand style. Kia Or’s new project looks to expand that into a group effort. Not only producing but also marketing houses including Q5. He is looking for investors to grow this grad plan. For 50k cc you can take advantage of the housing market. Buy low and sell high!

I suppose anyone looking to invest will do their own research beforehand and come to their own conclusions but Kai's new idea doesn't pass the sniff test. The basic premise is that if you and many other people give him lots of money, he's going to buy and hoard lots of houses for a period of time. After a few months, the price will have gone up so high that when he then sells the houses he'll have made a huge profit for everyone.
That sounds fine, if a little skeezy (would you not be pissed at the guy who bought all the food in a market in order to jack up prices?), but:
a) There's no guarantee it will actually be a success - if prices rise high enough and more people enter the housing market because of the new profitability, prices will eventually fall again, especially when a hoard of houses are reintroduced into the market.
b) There's no reason to keep all the houses/money in his account. Why not just coordinate the purchases? That way, worse case scenario, you still have houses in your account that possibly are worth less than you paid for?
c) Nobody who has invested with Kai Or has come forward yet, which is a tad supicious.
History tells us nothing has ever gone wrong with attempted price manipulation.
Ah the good old days, when you could manipulate the market, when arbitrage existed and printing domestic currency was a bona fide fiduciary obligation. War Bonds, Victory Bonds and Opportunity Funds, those were the days.

I have been in cryo-stasis for a while so I am out of the loop. I read this article and then I check my storage. I have five house factories, one for each of the Q levels. I also have over 500 "works" in my inventory. I'm also sitting on 300 housing RM. I have 6xQ1, 6xQ2, 6xQ3, 1xQ4 and 1xQ5 in my inventory. Is this valuable?
Does having a house mean a lot at this juncture of the game?
If you have housing inventory, when does it make sense to sell it as opposed to use it yourself?
Do people work in slave pits for homes, similar to how people used to work for guns?
Yes. Keep in mind that each house you have let's you work an extra time each day. That's economical for Q1 both in slave pits and by buying off the market (price per house/7
Market prices don't make it profitable to buy Q2 but it might be enough of an incentive for some people to buy it and subsidize it in part through overtime. Depending on the working arrangement you have their may not be much benefit in it for you.
Now when you don't have to pay your workers a "real" wage, I think it does become useful for them to get the Q2 house on top of the Q1.
I couldn't tell you about high Q value houses but there's definitely a market for low. I'm sure you could sell the 11 or so Q5 houses you'd make with 500 workers over 50 days. You'd still make money using your workers in other companies if you're in a big hurry but obviously not as much.

I've been here pretty much all along and I don't really understand houses. They are expensive. When active they give you "points" which you accumulate so you can work ovetime to earn a little extra cc and extra Energy to fight with. The latter is why i kept one of each Q so i could do more damage when i needed to. Admin "fixed" houses so that once turned on they cannot be shut off. I presume because people like me weren't buying enough. Now i don't care, they can eat their houses.
I neither endorse or negate Kia Or's plan. He's just a nice kid that found a way to role play. It's not a problem unless he tries to cheat people, then i would be disappointed.
