Only presidents and foreign ministers are allowed to post on this newspaper. This is going to be negotiations for some kind of Pact/Alliance for Asia.
If you are part of Japan, and want to comment on this, go to our forums at erepublikjapan.freeforums.org.
Countries who will be most likely be involved or contacted me are:
Japan - Me and Yamato Suzuki
Iran - Koroush
Indonesia - om_mudakir, or whoever is the foreign minister (isnuwardana or whoever)
China - Confucius
South Korea - neppons
Russia - Sasha Igorovich
Israel, India, and Thailand can get involved at any time. Any other country can to, but contact me first please.
Here are what Me, Yamato, and Nakandakari Lobato, have come up with for the basics of what we should start, we are referring to it as an alliance here
(Modifications are added):
- No AA (Asian Alliance) countries can declare war
- An AA country may not provoke war from another country.
- If a country declares war on an AA country, all AA countries must join the war.
- A country may leave the alliance at any time (Unless war is declared and no good reason is given not to join the war).
- A country that has left the alliance, or been banished from the AA, may only re-join if a new president is in charge of the country, and/or the countries parliament votes it.
- This must be voted upon by the countries parliament to join or leave the alliance.
- Countries outside of Asia are free to join the alliance, but the name of the Alliance will only change if more than two countries are not Asian.
- Members of the alliance will declare war upon the attacking country.
- Trade agreements with the attacking country will be nullified.
- A Declaration of War will be written into the Contracts section of the forum.
- All attacking country citizens will be eliminated from off-site forum membership. (this may or may not stay)
- This is specifically for a defensive type alliance. Neither Pakistan nor Sweden can get involved in these negotiations.
- If you have an alliance that causes you to brake any of these, i.e. Alliance with Sweden or Pakistan, you may not join.
- If you want to join the Northern Alliance, the current members will vote on whether you're in or not.
- You DO NOT have to be in Asia to join the alliance.
Now, if you don't agree, or want to add something, lets talk about it here. This is not even close to a final draft.
If you don't want to join right now, please still be part of the negotiations, so at a later time, when you decide to do so, it will benefit you in some way.

Quote: When a new president is elected it is up to him, or her, wether the country stays in the alliance or not.
This provision could potentially weaken the pact, as it would be possible for member countries to change the first of every month. For the stability of any potential pact, I'd suggest that the pact must be ratified by the vote of the country's parliament and signed by its President. Then the pact would be binding from that point forward until the country either decides to withdraw from the pact but vote of its parliament, or is expelled from the pact by the other members for violation of any stipulation of this pact. A President (whether current or future) could call for a vote by his parliament to remove their country from the treaty at any time.
Also I think each new member must be voted on by the other member nations before they would be admitted to the alliance.
Quote: "- If you have an alliance that interferes with any of these, you can not join." What would constitute an alliance that interferes? As you are aware, Russia is already aligned with the Northern Alliance.
Well. It sounds good but as I said before, I can't gurantee I am going to make Iran part of this because at the moment I am focusing on making Iran stand up on it's feets again before we go into alliances such.
Alliance like one with Pakistan or Sweden. But i probably should reword it.
Changed it.
QUOTE -"Well. I see what you are talking about. I too, do not beleive Japan is ready for something like this. But, what if the bigger countries decide to pick on one of us smaller ones? What would we do then. Thats what i hope this alliance will do, is help defend us, and keep us out of war, as long as possible.
As the current Foreign Minister of South Korea, I would like to say that this is sounds like a good idea. Some countries are growing strong, like Sweden and Pakistan that you already mentioned, although, even more countries could grow and become a potential threat to all of us in Asia, as it is a month left, if not more, until the war-module is fully loaded. But as of now, and until further notice, South Korea will not join the Alliance, but we would still like to be involved in the discussion about the terms for the alliance.
quizterr, Foreign Minister
South Korea
I was thinking the AA should just be limited to Asia and not outside it. Not really worth it if like Germany joins AA when it's so far away.

I agree with this, the alliance should just be open for countries in Asia. I'm not sure how the wars will work, but if far away countries can't come for help, I see no reaseon for them to join. We could create a worldwide non-attack treay that could be signed by these countries, if they would like to of course
That's true, I thought of that, but just threw that up there to see if that would work. I will modify it a little later, and take that out.
I think that the first and second point of the declaration is not what you expect from a mutual defensive pact. The third point is sufficient to make a mutual defensive pact. And also if an AA member declares war to another non-AA country, it is not the duty for the AA to help. Nevertheless, the highest power in the Alliance should be a forum, not based on the action or reaction of their member. In addition, there is no system in Erepublik for the congress to vote on an alliance agreement. Just to remind you that Indonesia has almost 60 Congresspersons, perhaps more in the upcoming election, which quite a feat, although not impossible, to ask for a quick agreement using Personal Message. (Representative from Indonesia)
If we can get an agreement from the other countries to change them, I will. I see where you are going with the first one, but the second one however, i believe should stay myself. If you provoke war from another country, and the declare it, we would have to declare war on them, which we shouldn't have to get involved. But if you think about it, i guess some of things can be changed to accommodate for it. And i also see your point on getting your people to go for it. But what you should do, is start an article, hope people see it, and if more people say yes, then say no, that should work. But, of course, i don't think it will work that easy. What do you suggest we do?
I do understand on the second point, however, there are no practical definition of what provocation means. If point number 2 does happen, let the forum of the (future) Asian Alliance decide whether they want to join the fight or not. Not because one member goes to war, therefore we are alll have to go to the war like mindless drones. The power of this Alliance should be rested in a forum, where each member have equal rights. (Representative of Indonesia)
If that's the definition of provocation, then it is already happened to Indonesia, from media in USA and Portugal to forum posts from Pakistan and Norway. However, since those only came from citizen, not president, we're just neglecting them.
On the mechanism of Alliance, just to remind you that even though the decision to go to a war is on the president, it needs the vote from the Congress, so if we are going to use this kind of mechanism, it will be a very long process to react a war request.
In the mean time, it seems admin is also preparing Alliance module (Daily Erepublik: http://www.erepublik.com/article-26593.html).
what would you suggest to do it then? we need some way to make it so everyone in the AA has their say. Yes, it is a long process, and i hate it, but i can't think of any other way. If this Alliance module works well, then i will love it, and it will make it easier on us.
hmm, try to make it into a declaration or something ... my friends have some example, but it's not original, taken from other webgames
Please save Sweden from the terrible nazi and racist Flashback that has invaded and are ruling Sweden... Onegaishimasu!! -Reaches towards...- -dead-
I'm not a president can I comment here?
There's a new feature of Mutual Protection Pact. I'm still looking for information on that then we'll see if the idea of making a mutual protection pact can be established.
Yes, that is a good idea. I think we should wait till we figure out how that works before we do this Alliance thing. But lets at least still talk about it. And please people, stop being so god damn immature, and let the top dogs talk for gods sake!
Those two are basically the same I assume:
- Countries outside of Asia are free to join the alliance, but the name of the Alliance will only change if more than two countries are not Asian.
- You DO NOT have to be in Asia to join the alliance.
And I believe I already said what I think of this.
Sofar, everything on it looks good - I have nothing extra to add for now but I will think about it. Don't worry, still very much time left until War. The admins said END of March, so we have 2 months on us! 😛
I will update it when i have time. This is not so much my high prioprity atm, since we have plenty of time, and it seems not so many Asian countries want to join. Though, i have gotten a request from Turkey (Not the pres. i think he is dead or something, but the next guy who will be pres.) to join, would that be fine, they are not horribly far from Asia?
Yeah. We got a lot of time.. till end March, so that's 2 months as I said 😉 All fine.
Well.... sure, they can join. 😉 Not so far away nah. They see themselves as Asians I guess, but IRL Turkey wants to join EU lol.
I was asked to comment on this from a legal perspective. I'll mention that there are a couple things missing (definition of aggression, majority required etc) and, of course, offer my services for a full formal review for the standard fare of 8 gold.
Seems like Indonesia likes acting like egos.
