[TUP] PP manifesto, the results are in, elect Furdelance for PP
furdelance
As you may know, yesterday I sent out a survey about the opinions of TUP from party members. The response I got was outstanding, with the results giving me real insight into the views of the party. So without further ado, the results.
The good
TUP does a good job running the nation. All our CPs have taken the country further and higher than before. The TUP does pride itself on its high expectations when it comes to choosing CPs, making sure they have the experience to run the country. Good job CPs.
Second, our success in congress. For a long time TUP had been the party with the most members, but even with a drop in numbers, we managed to get a very high number of congressman in congress this month. This is due to our efforts in the election campaign and making sure that candidates got the support that they need to get elected.
Third, the general smooth running of the party. TUP hasn't had the massive PTOs that some of the other major parties have experienced. Our members vigilance, focus on trust and preservation of the party that they helped build.
The bad
As experienced as it may be, TUP is no longer the party with the most members. Lack of members has been a prominent response when asked about the promlems in TUP. This obviously doesn't happens for a reason, whether it be boredom or getting tired of the party, which brings me to the next negative.
Activity. As good as the top players in the party may be , the newer and less experienced players have trouble working their way to the top of our party. Members have raised concerns on the lack of involvement and communication between the older and younger party members.
The party MU. At the moment, TUP has a MU with quite a few members but is quite inactive. While there are schemes within the MU to encourage the MU, a lack of clear concise orders detailing where and when to attack is not present. Many feel that, with a stronger MU, a stronger party will come with it.
What we'll do about it
If elected we will start a massive recruitment campaign, aiming to increase membership to the prominent position it was once in. A renewed focus on entertainment is also a must. We will run week competitions, giving you the chance to win those Q7 weapons that everyone is after.
As well as encouraging IRC and forum activity, I think it is essential that articles are produced on TUP and its hisotry. Some people simply refuse to use IRC or the forums, and we have to work around that. That is why a new article detailing the party, its history and its people will be published each week.
On the topic of communication, a party member suggested an idea that we think would work in bringing the younger and older players to the same level of knowledge about the party. A whole party conference would be held on IRC to those that are willing, where party policy, suggestions and criticisms can be voiced to those that are usually mute in the party.
Lastly along with the daily MoD article, we think that a article should be produced for TUP family detailing on where to fight and why we are fighting there. More competitions will be run in the MU, and we will aim to make a stronger, more effective fighting force.
Obviously, I say we because I won't be running on this election alone. That is why am announcing my vPP as bohemond4, a well-seasoned member of the party. I'm sure his knowledge and expertise will drive the party forward into a New Era. (No pun intended)
So with that, I wish all the other candidates the best of luck and that you will vote for who you think is the best for the party in the upcoming elections.

sounds like some good ideas there o7
I like Rik picture
So do I
Some good ideas; definitely want you as a PP at some point - run again if you don't win this time.
I can't help but feel that you'd be better running as vPP. You are fairly inexperienced it would seem from your profile and that would give you a more sound footing.
Could I suggest an article explaining your lack of activity? Low military rank and only 3 hard worker medals since 2009? For a player as old as you are you seem remarkably inexperienced.
As for the MU the main problem is lack of activity in members (including you for quite some time). We need to find out why they weren't fighting. I have had a number of ideas that I've put to the commander. We need to understand that some people fight seldomly but work on building up their strength so that they will have very high strength in a low division. I think there are several notable examples of this in the MU.
Finally we had a PP recently who wasn't active enough or on the ball enough to even organise the congress candidate list. Your obvious frequent inactivity worries me for the same reasons.
Nothing personal, you understand, I'm just a pessimist 😉 Prove you're sticking around this time and indicate methods for some of your ideas and you'll have my vote.
I completely understand where your coming from. I can see why you wouldn't want a potentially inexperienced and inactive player going for PP.
Well, about the medals and rank and so on, when I started the game I didn't really see it as important which is why it is lower when compared to others. And obviously, your in-game level is no indication of experience. I might not have trained or worked for a few years, but I could still see what was going on. I know what makes a good PP. I've seen the likes of forsettis utterly disgraceful job at PP. I've also seen PP at their best, like keers and talon. Of course, I can't just say I won't go inactive and expect you to take my word for it; that is something i'm going to have to prove.
I think the MU at the moment is filled up with inactive TUP members who only joined the MU because it was affiliated with the party, so something has to be done about that. We need more schemes like health for heroes to keep activity up, maybe a special prize weekly for the best in the division. The lack of fighting could be fixed with the new national military scheme that Woldy talked about in his manifesto, or if it doesn't something needs to be set up in the MU to discourage it.
TUP has always held in high regard it's ability to choose extremely capable and competent congressmen and country presidents. I aim to continue those high standards, making sure that the next congressmen are as good or better than the last.
And don't worry about it, if I didn't get any criticism I would have being doing something wrong. 😃
With respect if you weren't working, training or fighting for years you weren't playing the game so you are inexperienced. You may be a seasoned observer but that is not the same thing.
I accept that there are some who play only for the politics - that's not you. You've only had one term in congress. Others play for the military aspect. Again not you - you are a low ranking fighter who was inactive in the MU. When I started I believe you were captain of my regiment and were completely inactive so when the DO needed changed and the commander was unavailable, you were nowhere to be seen. You criticise the MU for lack of activity but you helped contribute to that.
Schemes like health for heroes do not seem to encourage inactive players. The same active players claim again and again. We had a highest hitters award previously and again it did not encourage activity.
You should also bear in mind that the MU was originally intended to be a 'casual' unit. It was not and likely never will be intended to be a high-hitting premier national unit. Indeed when the commander and the 2nds have removed inactive players some have criticised us heavily for doing so. Additionally, low ranking players are given daily food supplies as an activity encouragement.
I suggest you speak to the MU leadership to discuss measures that might be implemented and to get an idea of their future plans.
Also could you give us more details on the survey: what questions were asked to get this information? How many people were asked? How many responded? What was the percentage response per answer?
I do like some of your ideas. I want more details on some of the others. Still though I don't think I can support you until you've shown you can actually stick around this time.
I was captain of your regiment thats right. But things got in the way and was unable to play for a while. Health for heroes keeps people contributing when they could easily switch to a different MU if they wanted to. And if it truly is a casual unit, then lack of active fighters is irrelevant.
I do speak to the MU quite frequently actually, and will be talking to them more often to discuss future plans.
And the survey was sent to all party members, and asked what was good and what could be inproved in TUP.
Which idea would you like more detail on?
Apologies - I didn't get an alert that you had replied to my comment!
It's something of a moot point now but you brought up inactive fighters as an issue. I pointed out that the unit is intended as a casual unit and you then decide inactive fighters are irrelevant. So are they irrelevant or something that needs to be stopped?
We need to accept that the MU is what it is. It's a casual unit not supplied on the scale of units like the legion. It gives people the freedom to work where they want and fight how much they want. When we begin to penalise people for not fighting enough, they rightly point out that they joined the unit for those very freedoms. There have been discussions within the unit of expanding supplies. In the meantime they are sometime off implementation. The level of supply we've discussed is some way off. And would require some not inconsiderable support.
As for the survey I realise that it was sent out to the whole party membership. I work a great deal with surveys in my real life job. In order to be of value when an analysis is published it should include the number of questionnaires issued and the number returned (response rate, generally as a percentage). If you send out 100 and get 5 back, the survey cannot be said to be representative. If you send out 100 and get 75 back it can. Likewise the answers should indicate the numbers or proportions that gave each answer. It is also best practice to include the questions that were asked in the analysis.
Completely understandable.
I'm not saying that the inactive players should be penalised, i'm saying that the active ones should be rewarded. I was going to lobby for a TUP org so funds can be stored for reward schemes and whatnot.
The survey was about 20-25% representation. Not only was I trying to see what the party memebers wanted, I was trying to get an idea of active players.
