[WYD] Why I Support eIndia Staying in EDEN (Day 1856)

Forward...
BATNA. Best Alternative To Negotiated Agreement. Always be aware of your BATNA. Life is full of choices and maintaining the status quo is always an option. It is your personal responsibility to determine what your alternatives are.
eIndia is going through a referendum on whether to leave EDEN or not. What is the BATNA?
On why the referendum has come to fruition...
It has recently been discovered that eIndia has a foreign affairs problem. The first sign was when eCroatia asked for financial relief on the rent it was paying for the regions of eIndia that it was occupying. The second was when eCroatia decided to return one of the rented regions (Karnataka) to eIndia and then proceeded to fiercely defend the region when eIndia started RW’s to take it back. The third sign was when EDEN sloughed off eIndia’s request of them to talk to eCroatia about returning the region and co-operating with eIndia. The fourth sign was when eCroatia, with the consultation of EDEN, decided to RW a region back to eIndia in order to assist eCroatia in their war with eINDO and completely excluded eIndia from the discussion.
All of these signs point to eIndia not being in a position of mutual respect with eCroatia nor EDEN. The knee jerk reaction is to leave EDEN, or more accurately, have a referendum on whether to leave EDEN or not.
On the alternatives available if eIndia leaves EDEN...
What is eIndia’s BATNA? If we run away from the problem, what solution are we running to? Isolation? Alienation? No allies? Not a pleasant alternative. I'm disappointed that the alternatives are not listed on the referendum. Running away from EDEN and into the dangerous and freezing wilderness is not a BATNA in my opinion.
On looking inward...
When was the last time eIndia issued a battle order to aid an ally in EDEN? How many MPP’s with EDEN members does eIndia have? Is eIndia truly being the best ally or member of an alliance that is should be?
Let’s look deeper. The regions we don’t have are not costing us any economic bonuses, they are duplicates. The rent we do get for those regions amounts to $80,000 a month which is more than double what eIndia collects in taxes each month. What is our alternative solution if we end our relationship with eCroatia?
On the conflict that remains if we stay in EDEN...
I do not like the state of the relationship between eIndia and eCroatia nor the relationship between eIndia and EDEN; both lack mutual respect in my opinion. Nontheless, there is no better alternative at the moment. Neither CoT nor TWO have offered us membership in their alliance and no other country out there has come to eIndia’s side against eCroatia and EDEN. Again, reflecting on what eIndia has invested in its relationships with EDEN and eCroatia, maybe we are getting what we deserve.
eIndians are being asked to participate in a referendum on whether to leave EDEN or not. I believe eIndia needs an alliance because it will get wiped without allied support. I also believe in building mutual respect between our alliance and eIndia. I am not convinced that eIndia has done it’s 50% in building mutual respect with EDEN.
I WILL BE VOTING TO STAY IN EDEN AND BUILD RESPECT.
If it is not reciprocated, then I support soliciting interest from other alliances who are prepared to build such a relationship.
Denouement
Whichever alliance eIndia chooses to be a member of, EDEN or otherwise, we must build mutual respect with the stakeholders involved.

eIndia is not from yesterday in the "brotherhood" of EDEN and they had plenty of time. Why do they respect eTurkey and not eIndia? eIndia is older member than them but they don't have the damage eTurkey has if you're following my thought.
India isn't a full member in EDEN. They are in GEA. Everyone needs to keep that in mind.
Solid
This issue is not black and white. There is room for agreement in this relationship. Good article Addy.
Good article, before making any decision we 've to keep many points in mind.
I support staying the way we are as GEA. But honestly it doesnt matter one way or other. The last time we had support was when Nenya was the SC. Otherwise, we have begged but got nothing.
A few corrections in my opinion: The rent from eCroatia is 100k.
We have had offers to CoT right when it started. We chose to remain a frnd of EDEN.
To respond to the comments: Yes we do not have the damage. Does that mean we should call it quits? Of that is the official attitude of EDEN NOW, well we should quit. It is also true that all of that small damage went to the orders of EDEN. If that means nothing!! Well....I would say, this is not the EDEN we were part of in the past.
In my opinion, We were in EDEN becoz thats were our frnds are. Having said that referendum or not, I will move away from EDEN but be close to our frnd if we dont get the respect. This is not the time. If EDEN or our frnds are in trouble. Lets help them. We will move out when they are back and strong.
God Bless.
well said Asmita - I honestly do not remember too many battle prios in our favour. In fact when we wanted a war against Pak or Thai in the past, we were always turned down, saying that it would not benefit china and cause additional stress.
You need to ask around and get more of an idea of the history from the Indian perspective. Its quite unfortunate that as always small countries get painted in whatever light the alliance chooses to ... everyone seems to have forgotten the tanking and the organised strikes we made repeatedly - day in and day out... without financial recompense for GEA members.
We really tried to make it into a meaningful alliance - the other members grew cos obviously when they spark off attempts for a BB, they get sustained war and loads of RL hatred to fuel it. Thankfully we have no such luck which is why we have grown really slowly, but we are making our presence felt and we will... it just wont be the big booms or in terms of superior damage poured out by grunts and bots.
What do we contribute to the game? our small but interesting community.
Damage? no siree
Your facing the same decisions as eCanada. The tough decisions come when you have to choose between an old ally and a old enemy and your suppose to fight for an old enemy. Then everyone who wanted change suddenly starts screaming that they will never fight for old enemy over old friend. Suddenly the new sexy alliance does not seem so sexy.
When a bad place is the best place to be...
Not having allies is not an option. Unless the government has an alternate plan and presents it to the people this referendum should be voted down.
Yes, there is valid reason for a referendum. But the referendum itself was not organised well, with no benefits or consequences laid out for a yes or no vote. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.
@Roger: Uv Ajed had another plan, but it seems he wanted to avoid offending EDEN.
Voted!! Well said Addy 🙂
