A personal observation..
Bean&teddy
So in case you haven;t noticed the new politcial module has been announced and here it is Political module.
What it consists of:
Basically instead of voting for individuals you now vote for a party and depending on the amount of votes a party receives decides who gets elected.
PP's must make a priority list to decide who gets in first.
Example: Ireland has 40 congress seats. For arguments sake ILP has 20 candidates and sets the priorities in the following order:
1: A
2: B
3: C
4: D
5: E
6: F
7: G
8: H
9: I
10: J
and so on..
If ILP then received 25% of total votes cast in Ireland they would get their first 10 (25% of the 40 congress members) priorities elected.
So that's basically it so lets look at some pros and cons...
Pros:
1) you could argue that it means multies have less chance of being elected. PP's can put them as the bottom priority and even if they give themselves 10 votes theres less chance of them getting in.
2) It means more new players can more dedicated players have a better chance of getting elected if PP puts them high enough on the Prio list. This is good as it means we may have a more active and fresh congress.
3) It will mean candidates will have to work together to increase support for their parties rather than working as individuals. We may start to see some more party community come back into the game.
Cons:
1) No strategy. This might be a good thing but it takes out the strategic part of elections. Before you could direct votes to ensure your party got the most amount of seats possible. Now it is based on how much support your party has and strategic organization is out of the equation.
2) Who has prio? This is going to cause a lot of problems in most parties deciding who comes first and who comes last. I have looked at it and I think the most effective and fair order is:
1: actives who didn't get in last month
2: newbies that are active
3: all other actives and dedicated party members
4: others/ unofficial
5: multies
3) Its not exactly fun. You have a choice to vote for one of 5 parties and after that you just wait and hope your party receives enough for you to get elected. You miss the old nerves of being in the green by one vote, or missing out on being elected by a last minute vote for your opponent knocking you out of top 4/5. yeah that sounds pretty suckish but its the highs and the lows that make the game fun.
4) Parties outside the top 5 will have little to no representation unless they make some sort of pact with one of the top 5 parties for votes etc in return for running their candidates.
Who knows, maybe the community will make this better than it sounds because after all it's the people that make this game good. This is just my personal observation from being heavily involved in elections for the last few months.
Please leave a comment with your opinion.

I think this will cause a lot more problems than good tbh which doesn't surprise me with the way admin do things.
For example players who leave small parties to run with larger ones can possibly find themselves right down the bottom of the list. This is sad because in most parties you find the same people getting elected each month and dont do a single thing in congress or anywhere. An example of this is Daniel Kaffe who always got elected and didn't do anything.
I want to be PP! Now!
Also, parties that are not in the top 5 now have no chance of being represented in Congress.
Just when you thought this game couldn't get any worse...
@Van good point I havve added that in.
@Marcus i Suppose it just depends who you have as PP and who they set as their prio's. It may mean people will have to put more thought into who they elect as their PP.
It's going to be a bit frustrating if there are a lot of candidates on the list as it's unlikely that anyone after 15th tops is going to get in. I imagine there might be a bit more negotiation with the parties outside the top five for their support, too.
I'd say the list should take account of how active in congress everybody is, but I don't think you can track whether a certain person has voted and how often?
This is exact election model we have in rl Croatia and look what good it brought to country...
Congress will become even more of a joke it is now.......
Good news is i am out of congress crap...
Promotes activity
/argument
Who comes up with these retarded ideas, every "update" gets worse IMO, strategy is being thrown right out of the window
Besides if a party leader wants to, now he can directly rig who gets into congress in a sense and if a CP has control over the largest party and can obtain a good majority with yesmen, Congress essentially becomes a tool to be abused
I actually think this could make the game better if not at the very least more interesting.
There are downsides of course, but we need to see a few weeks of the new system in action before we can pass final judgment.
mwuhahahahahaha.
I see no drama. (I have no suit though, so that's probably why.....)
Makes elections less interesting/exciting.
Removes incentive to canvass.
Sucking up to the PP is the only way to get in.
Is this really the new political module - it has just appeared as an entry in the wiki? Surely it should have appeared as an announcement from Plato.
Oh f**k this means I have to redo my political section of my tutorial articles 😑
More cons than pros in my opinion.
I think this is awesome to be honest. It will lead to a shake up of how things have been traditionally done, but it will allow for legitimate coalitions to form. Smaller parties can trade votes for influence/seats and inactives like kaffe simply wont get in so long as we have active participating pp's. I think it may even go so far that PP's will be forced to put active people up as the competition goes beyond individual charisma and becomes more about practical party application.
^ I agree with what he said.
This is how Democracy dies.
Maybe there are some benefits, but this reminds me of a proportional representation political system, and we all see how well that went in RL, take a look at the Wiemar Republic
*Weimar
Bigmike there have been studies done irl that demonstrate that proportional representation is more efficient and democratically sound than first past the post democracy. Plus we have no prime minister to name, cp is still majority decision, unless they changed that too.
I think it will be good for all of us. Of course I could be wrong. lol The smaller parties can run candidates in larger parties in exchange for that smaller parties votes.
Of course someone will probably find some way to exploit things. They always do. In RL and here.
Tbh I'm in support of these changes either way, because it's hard to do worse than what we had before. Calling the old system democratic is a real stretch.
What I hope is that these changes will force parties to take a stand on issues and differentiate from each other to the extent that parties will mean something. When you think about it, the only thing important about parties in the past was that they be in the top five if you want to run for congress. Maybe that will change now,or not?
I think this will bring back party communities which is good. I missed that.
multies at the bottom why not kick em?
Its turning from voting for individuals based on merit and prestige into a communist style system where everyone joins the large party and the dictator of the party rules who is in and who is out based on his own preferences. This is a terrible idea and no amount of pros will outweigh that.
