Complexity is the fail
8-3=1
I made this comment today in an article referring to One and Serbia situation.
It sounds strange, but it is actually true. The more complex a machinery is, the more difficult it is to repair it- once it is broken. We build such complex artefacts which work wonderfully, but we are in big trouble once they start failing. Some of the damage cannot even be repaired and we need to replace the machinery.
What has this got to do with eRepublik?
Well...we have two machineries to compare in eRepublik.
On one side, it is the humble Eden. The countries have been erased many times in the last months, the financial situation of the countries is not the best. And what is even more interesting, the structure of the "machine" is actually inexistent. The Eden pact expired long time ago, there is no "machinery" to keep all these countries functioning together as a brotherhood.
And yet they still do. We fight for Croatia, Bulgaria, China, Greece and all the others. We also fight together with Terra countries. And they fight for us. We help each other. And we need no piece of paper wonderfully drafted up to tell us what to do.
On the other side, we have One. A wonderful machine, with a wonderful treaty covering so many clauses and situations. A beautiful work of diplomacy and negotiation- no wonder a good work from Polish or Hungarian military and diplomatic people. Every thing is clear- every one knows what they have to do and what they dont have to do- and what will happen if they dont do what they are supposed to do.
And yet, this does not account for the relation between the countries. Such a wonderful machine will fail miserably once some problem occurs. Remember Phoenix? Despite all the propaganda saying that the dismantling of Phoenix was done on purpose, the fact is that the wonderful treaty of Phoenix failed to keep countries any longer together. France left, Russia left, Bulgaria left. Dismantling of Phoenix was the last solution to total meltdown.
And before that...what was before that? I dont even remember. What was the name of their alliance? See...complexity is the fail, and it will always be.
Brothers will be brothers without the piece of paper.

nice 🙂
good one!!!! no paper needed when you have insight connection 😉
Wallachian should read this : )
I enjoy reading your articles.
That is actually not true. Polish and Spain was part of EDEN remember? And they left for the other side.
Despite of trying to give a positive twist to current EDEN situation the truth is that ONE is far better built, organized and as a result it functions with far grater efficiency, why trying to lie ourselves here.
We(EDEN, especially Romania) barely started to count and to be on the map and soddenly we try to knock out ourselves drinking plain water. It won't work. It won't be too long before Serbia will come over us(eRO) again, and again... unless... god knows what!
Let's be reasonable here.
@FatFrumos: Poland wanted to be "the queen" of Eden and they dragged Spain after them. That is why they left, because they could not stand being a team.
You cannot say One (ex Phoenix) is stronger since Phoenix lost some major allies once they metamorphed into One: Brasil, Bulgaria, Russia, France. For some of them I was personally in charge to bring into our side, and I think they are good allies and found a better family with us in Eden or Terra. They more than replaced Poland and Spain and I am more than happy with the result.
Eden is much more stronger without Poland or Spain (actually without Poland, Spain just got dragged by the events together with Sweden without really realising what they are getting into)- not on the battlefield but as a community. Poland can now destroy One with their selfish behaviour, frankly I dont care...
well done Optimus!
and a good machine is the machine that runs not my diesel but on soul.
Sweden totally switched sides cause they were scared of Poland.. sad. Good riddance to weak willed countries like that.
I hate the little countries that are "pro ONE" because they want to be on the winning side. EDEN/TERRA needs to recruit Indo and Turkey onto our side again and there will be balance.
Hail Cromania
Hail EDEN
Hail Terra
^Think before you speak. Romanians despise Indos for destroying their empire and they are currently occupied by Turkey.
Optminus - the point you make is valid, and I think some former leaders of ONE might agree with you. From my point of view, an alliance is a construct with a clear set of goals and a limited lifespan. In the case of ONE, the goals have (mostly) been achieved and the charter is no longer followed closely. In reality, ONE was reborn under Iain Keers and he is transforming it into a new alliance with the same name, but seemingly a more traditional, mutual defense based format.
