Free Elections
Lord Bernin
Dear Readers,
I intended to publish this article just after the Congress elections but could not do so because I was quite busy yesterday. I wish to draw everyone's attention towards an important topic, ie. Free Election.
In this election, I had adopted a policy of free election (in my opinion for the first time in eIndia) just because there was no threat from unapproved, TO candidates. I had hoped that India United will do the same and allow free elections for the progress of eIndia. I am highly disappointed by the strategy adopted by my dear friends at IU.
I strongly condemn IU's unreasonable policy to gain maximum number of congress seats and compromising with the future of eIndia. As I have already discussed a lot on this issue with Shaz, I sense that people want things to change. It was fine to issue orders for voting when it was necessary to prevent a take over. But WHY NOW???
I hope that things will change for a better eFuture. I will again re-iterate my stand on this topic and I firmly believe that this attitude for "insignificant" gains will lead to political deterioration of eIndia.
I take responsibility for the poor performance of Yuuva in these elections. I took this step not for better of Yuuva but for the better of eIndia. It hurts me to see such a negative consequence of it.

It was fine to issue orders for voting when it was necessary to prevent a take over. But WHY NOW???
A question to IU members....!
Why Not?? IU believed that all its nominated members were fit to be congressmen. And accordingly an election plan was created and executed. Dont understand how that compromises with the political future of eIndia.
No orders were issued.
We had just requested those (of the IU party ONLY) who were willing to support..
k. graf. Let me do what I didnt want to do. I can see many people from IU who do not deserve to be in Congress bcoz of being inactive. And also what do yoiu think about Prabal, Fighter100, Pheenic and Dhruv?? Didnt they deserve to be in Congress??? Pheenic- 2 times HoC!!!
+ imho there isn't any wrong in this... most of the (IU) candidates who have won deserved the win.
Besides, all of us know what an average eIndian voter thinks b4 voting - nothing. And obviously, most of our regions are haunted by zombies. So, 'managing votes' is still essential if we have to make sure that deserving candidates win..
And, c'mon, lets bring some life in our internal politics! because this is only of the only 2 paths I see atm which may lead to an active eIndia
Congress elections shud be won by those who can take the correct decisions nd nt by helping a guy just only because he belongs to ur own party ..... All I see everywhere nw is "Hey, IU got a clean sweep, who the f**k cares if noobs get elected." .... Congress election is not a competition between parties, it is a competition people for a better country.
WE mentions some stupid rules knwn as "Congress Guidelines" which nobody follows .... New proposals shud be discussed fr 48 hrs before proposing ... Hah! .... All I see is dictators proposing MPPs and NEs without even asking the congressmen .... Instead they just shout "Vote Yes for this / Vote No for this" and congress just follows it without saying a word .......
graf,
you need to think outside of IU. think about the nation as a whole! if you think all members of IU deserved to win...you are either ignoring it or just being blindly more loyal to IU.
"All I see is dictators proposing MPPs and NEs without even asking the congressmen .... Instead they just shout "Vote Yes for this / Vote No for this" and congress just follows it without saying a word"
VOTED HARD! +1 Shakti indeed rocks!
@ Shiv, kindly elaborate plz- Besides, all of us know what an average eIndian voter thinks b4 voting - nothing. And obviously, most of our regions are haunted by zombies. So, 'managing votes' is still essential if we have to make sure that deserving candidates win..""
"who the f**k cares if noobs get elected"
take a look at the list first: http://www.erepublik.com/en/elections/country-48-election-congress-date-2011-04-region-0
no noob in there except perhaps crazycon
what abt the 11 guys who voted yes to the China NE .........It may be of both parties but there are still noobs to vote Yes ....
@anant what i meant to say is that an avg eindian votes thinks nothing before voting and boats just for the sake of boating..
We are 13 regions. Most of them have 50+ citizens as per statistics. But needless to say, in most of the regions (only exception being the capital)99% of them are dead and/or inactive (and a few orgs too perhaps). In a few other regions, even no one is alive!
So if a 'deserving' candidate runs frm such a region, obviously he will lost because he will get only ~1 vote (which is the one he gave to himself). So, we must send some voters to that region so that that 'deserving' candidate wins..
@Shakti
shrunjal put that poll up in the General Section which every forum user can see.. so u know frm where that 11 ayes came frm..
Why the hell have 2 parties then? have a single party and enjoy free elections. Party politics is a part of the politics module. Why discard it. I dont blame you for following free voting. But that doesn't necessitate IU following the same path. Did someone from IU promise this and then break the promise..And how can you be so certain that free voting is the only way of ensuring political future of eIndia. You have your views and someone else may have his. No one has the right to force his views on others in a democracy.
Its a pretty self righteous stand of finger pointing at people and saying that so and so is inactive and doesnt deserve to be a congressman. Well, none of us has the right to be a judge of that buddy...
Shakti and Fighter.. It will help if you reread carefully the same congress guidelines that you mentioned
"5.4 Alliances / MPPs need no discussion, but the country president should tell the reasons for the alliance in short."
@ shiv I agree with you on the last point you made but this should be done by the candidate himself and not the party leader shouting to vote for person x in region y. just 1 more vote... I will give free ticket. i mean this is not fair. If the candidate himself requests some voters to vote for him by moving them there then that is ok. Since we can see interim results, it is easier to manipulate them.
@Shiv - Shrunjal had put a poll to make Pak as NE ......
@ graf, i did not finger point at people. A Fact is a fact and cannot be denied.
@Graf : well the reasons came out pretty late after the proposal ..... If I can help in handling sm announcement/order dept. then I wud gladly lyk to cm ahead ......
Anant: "I can see many people from IU who do not deserve to be in Congress bcoz of being inactive." 😉
Anant, buddy.. who made you the judge of that?? You have your perception of fact, and mine differs from that.. Doesnt make either of us right or wrong.. Just different..
Following the idealistic path is good as far as the books/theories/lectures are concerned but we need to be practical which it comes (e)life.
afaik, we had once left the elections all upto itself (immediately after the PTO attempts finally stopped, I guess) and though only 1-2 PTOers could get in, multies ruled the show. Many good candidates lost, congress was full of mudheads.
And as graf said, pointless having 2 parties if ther can't/won't/don't rival. (And as I pointed out earlier 😛) this way we can (re)energize eIndia a bit
@Shakti: Thanks for the offer.. You should put yourself up for the HoC role. Would love to have more active people in govt..
Yes, Shakti, I'm talking about that poll only (http://forum.erepindia.com/index.php?topic=284.msg2446;topicseen#new)
It's put in a section which anyone can view (http://forum.erepindia.com/index.php?board=2.0).
This one: http://forum.erepindia.com/index.php?board=5.0 is explicitly for the purpose of congressmen ONLY but it's not been put here.
and sometimes, we wouldn't know for weeks why a certain proposal was proposed. just look at proposing Bulgaria NE in the past.
i didn't knew UNTIL a Bulgarian guy wrote an article about "Thanking India"!
if congressman job is to vote yes/no, than anyone can become congress man, because we have parties like IU who are more than willing to give you votes, if you are in their party.
I completely agree with Fighter100. "If congressman job is to vote yes/no, than anyone can become congress man"
@Graf : Will surely try for HoC if I get elected fr congress next term ....
@Shiv : Alright, I guess I missed dat ...
Everyone missed out my point-"what do yoiu think about Prabal, Fighter100, Pheenic and Dhruv?? Didnt they deserve to be in Congress??? Pheenic- 2 times HoC!!!"
@Shiv SRJ
What type of rivals are you talking about? that who is gonna win congress seat?
As shakti pointed out, "Congress election is not a competition between parties, it is a competition people for a better country."
and thus whether it's IU or yuvva, we must not elect those who are less/not active at all.
+1 Fighter100 ..... As I said in earlier comment, some active dude mst handle announcement duties ..........
@fighter
The proposal you are talking about needed immediate proposing since Bulgaria needed immediate strategic help from us.
But, I will agree with you to some extent that Military proposals aren't discussed b4 proposing. (The other kinds of proposals are and were discussed.. we had a heated debate on the tax structure on forums b4 proposing any changes)
Fighter.. Bulgaria NE was kept low key for a reason. We did not want NWO to find out that we were giving regions to bulgaria to prevent a wipe out before bulgaria got those regions. Unfortunately it still got out and NWO RWed the Rajasthan region to prevent Bulgaria getting addnl regions in eIndia.
Vote Yes or Vote NO is a govt recommendation for congress. No one pulls a congressman by his/her ears and makes him/her vote one way or the other. And this is a childish argument because if such was the case, the import tax proposals that the govt didnt want wouldnt have passed.
Isnt it??
Guys, congress elections/CP elections are a competition between parties if you want a 2/multi party system.. Cant have your cake and eat it too..
@ Anant, the 4 guys you mentioned are good candidates, but then there are only 40 seats.. And democracy doesnt mean one of us gets to decide who deserves and who doesnt.
@fighter x2
"Congress election is not a competition between parties, it is a competition people for a better country."
What you said is, to a limited extent, true to Prez elections, not Congress because if we even miss this opportunity to compete, what use having politics in the game lol?!
Also, if you saying that due to management of votes by IU, some 'non-deserving' candidates won then it is completely wrong imho. There is no one of IU who got elected didn't deserve to be elected. All of them are active and mature enough. Some yuuva guys like Prabal, you, etc should have won but again, that is not our fault. Some in yuuva have got like 5-6 voted though they needed only 2-3 to get in whilst others (the deservings) have just 0-2.
with all the fuss being made, this policy of vote management WAS INITIATED by Yuuva and I dont recall that was done due to any PTO threat either..So I guess u have to eat your hat, thats democracy 😉
"I firmly believe that this attitude for "insignificant" gains will lead to political deterioration of eIndia."- Anant... If its so insignificant mate, y d fuss?
" I can see many people from IU who do not deserve to be in Congress bcoz of being inactive."- This one's really unexpctd comng 4m u... R u judging who deserves 2 b a candidate 4 IU? dat right is reservd with d IU PP. Period.
"All I see everywhere nw is "Hey, IU got a clean sweep, who the f**k cares if noobs get elected."- U need 2 take things in a better spirit... Yuuva has been doing a tremendous job, u r only undermining Yuuva's honor in reactng d way u r. When Yuuva did a fab job last few terms, n IU members like Lucifer663 failed 2 get a seat, did u find even One such screamer around?
"if congressman job is to vote yes/no, than anyone can become congress man, because we have parties like IU who are more than willing to give you votes, if you are in their party."- 4 u mate, plz go on and check ur ehistory. Our nation has survived this long, just coz ds party u r tokng abt held its head up thru d years. n i wont hav ANYBODY pointing a finger at this particular aspect. So, even if I can justify Anant's n Shakti's comments as overreaction, i wud rather put ur points as immature n totally UNACCEPTABLE.
n 4 Yuuva, victory n defeat r a part of d game... n u havent lost ur position... u performed below expectations coz u didnt hav two of ur best men(read sharry n prabal) at their best... they wl b bak nxt time, n u wl b bak 2 ur best too... look ahead... Yuuva has a bright future... dnt lose ur hearts n heads over One election result... good luck...
@ shakti "what abt the 11 guys who voted yes to the China NE .........It may be of both parties but there are still noobs to vote Yes ...." & "All I see everywhere nw is "Hey, IU got a clean sweep, who the f**k cares if noobs get elected."
Is not it Yuuva who 'claims' 'to back' the so called 'noobs' specially? [and for the legacy of proposals they have made, for your reference, kindly check out wasted proposal's Yuuva last month]. you seem to be treading really thin ice there.
@fighter
"All I see is dictators proposing MPPs and NEs without even asking the congressmen .... Instead they just shout "Vote Yes for this / Vote No for this" and congress just follows it without saying a word"
Well that does NOT concern the current discussions mate.
"It was fine to issue orders for voting when it was necessary to prevent a take over" & " whether it's IU or yuvva, we must not elect those who are less/not active at all"
totally agreed, but were Yuuva following the same in last few elections? I did not see you grieving then.
@anant u have all our support
congress elections dosnt matter much buddy
we are here for fun n we will still be the party spoilers
@fighter n shakti a very grand salute for u guys
u guys are the pillars of yuuva
thanks for standing up guys
@luci with all the fuss being made, this policy of vote management WAS INITIATED by Yuuva and I dont recall that was done due to any PTO threat either..So I guess u have to eat your hat, thats democracy
its iu that plays cheap politics not YUUVA
i still remember the reason y shaz left YUUVA
he said he was told HIS MEDIA PROGRAM WILL ONLY BE SUPPORTED IF HE IS IN INDIA UNITED
isnt this cheap politics?
sorry guys for my inactivity
but il be hyper active from may 5
oops i forgot 1 thing
i would like to congratulate one of my very good frnd anuj for the elections
if u still need 100% seats we will all resign for u 😛
@sharry..I dnt understand u all..If we get 100% result y u all are making a mess of it...wats wrong in that..
sharry +1
Sharry.. Go ahead, resign.. You were the one who created the party in the first place knowing the fact that it helps ease the PTO attempt , but fortunately we did not have that much of a PTO attempt lately. Our guys, spent hours getting the votes properly distributed and one article proving your disability to coordinate votes and blaming all on us.. Nobody asked Yuuva members not to coordinate and distribute votes.. Anuj & co did a very good job.. Thats the political sport.. It is competition... Fail article.. No Vote.
There are a few points which I need to clarify at this point-
1) Do not misunderstand this article as a result of Yuuva performing badly.
2) The motive of this article is just to call for a Change in the way things are being done here.
3) If IU is managing votes, then isn't that judging who deserves Congress seat??
4) If IU really needs competition/ political sport/ excitement/ etc, wouldnt it be better to see who gets how many votes without any manipulation. Im my opinion, this is what is called competition. For an example, if in IIT-JEE exam, an invigilator gives a few answers to some candidates. Would that be competition?
Ehhh Stop cribbing and take it like a man. Read This: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/we-039-re-got-it-all--1760033/1/20 HUUUHHAAAA!!!!
REClarifications:
1) We r tryng nt 2 misundrstand... ur commnts r forcng us to...
2) Change has come... n it has come due to Yuuva... IU didnt need 2 manage its votes 2 win earlier... u guys r giving a serious competition... an applause 4 that...
3) IU manages votes 4 its own members... i.e IU members vote 4 IU candidates... i cant c how that affects Yuuva candidates...
4) Talking of competition, there's a marked differnce b/w an exam an an election, U r 2 appear ALONE in an examination, while PARTIES compete in elections... i think if coordination amongst party members doesnt exist... the entire point of party-based elections is failed...
I take exception to the word Manipulation in your comment. Are you implying a use of unfair practices?
Competition implies effort. And making sure elections run as per party's objectives and each party trying to maximize its votes via publicity, movement of people around is a part of that effort. In my books not playing to win (while staying fair) is downright laziness. Very similar to not studying for an exam (using your analogy) and banking only on what you remember from the classroom lectures..
@anuj just joking
awesome show buddy
@navin u r not the one to tell me what should i do
for ur kind information i did not create a new party
jus like u r busy in rl even we r busy in rl
V+S 🙂 good one
