MaryamQ
Hello, eBelgium,
We are drawing near the end of my term as your President, and it has been a very eventful month. We have seen the signing of two MPPs - the first of any kind since V2, a very successful fundraising campaign (and it is still not too late to contribute), the beginning of talks about rewriting our constitution, the addition of some great new citizens, and some very nice new government and private programs to support our young players. I have been impressed by the generosity and caring of our eBelgian community. I have also had the chance to make some new friends and learn a lot about things I hadn't considered before regarding the way this game works. No matter where we come from in real life, I can see that we are all eBelgian at heart.
At this time, I want to take the time to recognize some of the extraordinary contributions of our citizens in recent days.
On the cultural side, Victoria Diets has expanded her Dawn Studios and has been showing the original 1922 version of Nosferatu just in time for Halloween. She has also proposed the start of our own football league, and Glenn Wauters has been kind enough to share his own simulator to help with this project. Take a look here, and help get this off the ground.
The ARC has implented a Food for Young Fighters program that deserves special recognition. This is a joint effort that makes it possible for some of our newer citizens to get fighting experience before they would be able to afford it on their own. Donors so far include Aldous Zamiatin, Vulcain, nogex1 and The Vegan Society.
Velitia, who has previously donated several of his own companies to eBelgium, has recently given us access to yet another. Since he is additionally a large donor of gold to our treasury, his generosity deserves special recognition, as well.
These are only a few of the people who have gone the extra mile to make our eNation grow stronger. They all deserve a round of applause at the very least!
I want to conclude by noting that I have chosen not to run for President again at this time. It has been my privilege to serve you, and I am certainly not going away, but it is also a very wearing job, and my RL commitments make it difficult to do the job as well as I would like. I have leaned very heavily on my experienced and capable cabinet, and would like to thank everyone who has supported me in any way. I am throwing my support to ThomasRed, who has been an incredibly valuable member of my team and has done me the honor to ask me to serve with him, as announced here. I will be commenting more before the election about our shared vision for eBelgium, but for now, please read and vote this up!
Thank you for a great month, eBelgium. You are the best!

No one comments on the Presidents article and only has 3 votes? What blasphemy is this!!??
voted and subed. I just got here, but from what I've read you have helped eBelgium for the greater good. Nice to have people like you in countries like this 🙂

You did a great job, Maryam.
Thanks and congratulations !
Why is it great to have another state company while none of the state companies are operational?
Btw what happened with eBe Raw?
A Vegan: acquiring them is a first step in turning them operational again, I guess. One has to start somewhere...
Last month 5 companies where operational now ZERO are operational.
That sounds more like an ending than a start...
AVegan, the raw company is blocked in Italy, wages in Italy are higher then in Austria, so the grain company isnt working because of that
For the other, Belgium has a little market, mainly focused on grain and food, the wages went up and there are a lot of low level job offers, so there is no need to compete with the private companies i guess, except the food company to give food to our younger citizens to have a chance to fight
When I was MoS I almost got daily comments why not more raw companies where made. Could you explain why this doesn't seem to be a problem anymore? Actually the past month NOTHING has been done. Are you the MoS cause I would also like to talk about eBe Raw finances, something fishy is going on there.
also, we've had to have a large amount of all different companies to give trainings companies for each profession (harvester, mechanic, builder, etc). Currently, we only need one kind of profession.
And ofcourse, with the change in the formula, lvl 1 workers are very profitable and thus wanted, instead of the old times where they weren't wanted. So thus we have less state companies needed.
But that doesn't explain why eBe Raw is completely deserted.
And it also doesn't explain why got yet another non operational company.
Could someone tell me who runs eBe Raw?
Is the eBelgium state collecting empty companies?
eBe Raw is currently under the direction of the Ministry of Finance. Indeed, the location of our grain company does make it impractical for us to keep it operational at this time. Boklevski, wisely I believe, chooses not to flood the market with job offers or products which would compete with privately owned companies. The state training companies are indeed under Glenn Wauters in the MoEC. These are also being used judiciously to meet supply and demand.
Lol. He's the one with most companies on the eBelgian market... How can u rely on him on doing that.
I don't understand why it is a good thing to not put a foreign grain company operational. At least it should be possible to sell it for 0.05BEF without making a loss. Really don't understand why this is a good idea.
This can only be negative for eBelgium.
Could you explain why it is good to not get better grain prices? Wasn't eBe Raw created to do just that???
I really don't understand why people who before cared so much about the faith of eBe Raw couldn't care less now.
I wouldn't complain if I would get a free company, that's for sure, even if I couldn't do anything with it at that moment 😛
Maryam, you've been a president during not the easiest of time, and I'm sure that most of us eBelgians enjoyed living under your wing for the last month and that we appreciate all of your efforts to help this country (:
I am not complaining that we got a free company, I am complaining that NOTHING is done with it. Especially that nothing has been done with eBe Raw sadens me.
Multiple fundraisers have been started but making our country self sustainable isn't a priority. Actually it isn't wanted at all.
Right...
I wouldn't say that is a great prestation.
As for difficult times. During this administration we got a free MPP, eRepublik rules where simplified and old citizens became active again. I don't see why these wheren't the easiest times. Actually conditions couldn't have been better (at least not since v2 started).
What free MPP? Are you talking about those with the new countries (we actually have several)? Those do not help us fight, and in fact, are a gift to those countries, not to us, enabling them to get fighting experience while they are growing and getting organized.
I will agree that these were not the worst of times, and I am not taking personal credit for our growth by any means, but I will note that we have met all of our national goals this month and that we did have some real achievements, thanks to many people working together, not just me.
Didn't eRepublik give a free MPP to all countries to let everyone taste the war module? If not ignore that part. Not being welcome on the national forum also makes it harder to get once facts hard, now a lot has to come from my deteriorating memory
As for our president MaryamQ I can only say she did a good job (and that didn't come as a surprise) but I wouldn't say the administration was a complete success. They had the opportunity to do so much but instead our country is less sustainable than ever. Yes many fundraisers where started (and those are great initiatives and should be continued) but the root of the problem wasn't touched and actually completely ignored.
Instead previous projects to get our economy running where abandoned.
Anyway while I do have criticism I still admire our president enormously and would hope she re-runs instead of taking part of this farce of having a president and first minister.
I would vote for her and the rest of the BCP as well (actually if she would have run we would have officially endorsed her).
A Vegan, private companies have difficulties to find active and productive employers. Running state companies just for the sakes of running them would be pointless.
About the MPP's, Maryam is right - every country got an MPP with the 5 new nations, but since they can't engage in wars themselves, it's they who benefit from these MPP's by fighting in other peoples wars.
An increase of raws would only benefit our economy. That's not running state companies for the sake of it. Cheaper grain would benefit our biggest industry (food) and still keep our grain companies profitable.
In one hand all of you say that domestic grain production is to low to support all needs and in the other hand you refuse to use our state grain high region company to fill the whole.
Now that doesn't make sense.
With the current wars the iron company should be restarted (even more because for iron we are 100% dependable of foreign companies) as well.
And why not expand eBe Raw like it was originally planned?
With the wars our economy could be revamped but without fair priced raws that won't happen. Now is the time to start others up not to sit back and take your hands of it.
We need to stay realistic, A Vegan - you can start up all the companies eBelgium owns, but you will have great difficulties filling even one with employees who will stick longer than a couple of days days...
Nobody said that managing a business is easy. You have to work for it. What means communication, communication and communication.
But impossible, NO!
Where will you find the people, A Vegan? Your party couldn't find more than 3 people (all party leaders) to work in your commune, how can you expect others to do better. We just don't get that much new citizens who want to play this game longer than their first log-in.

Thanks again 🙂
@Aldous
Creating a business takes longer than 2 days.
And creating a commune even longer.
Lets talk next month about our commune will we.
great job and pitty you won't run again.
