War and Peace (I didn't mean Tolstoy's)
Amli Nujhan
What factor contributes most in our RL global economy?
Is it petroleum?... or gold?...or food?... perhaps entertainment?...health-care?...erm, drugs?
What is that thing that takes the biggest portion in the pie chart?
The answer is Military!
It’s the arm race that moves the whole world. That is what human spend on the most.
It’s like the top predator in an ecology food web system. Every biologists know the significance of the declining number of top predator. It means the whole system is crumbling.
It is not just by accident that the Capitalist pigs got involved in controlling the war.
I don't think it is appropriate to discuss the lengthy economic theory from Das Kapital here, but
during the reign of Hitler, from the understanding of Marx's theory, the German capitalists supported Hitler spending on the arm expenditure as an act of ‘waste’ that had save the capitalist crisis of the time.
If we were to move our economy in this eRepublic, we have to assure that our economic chains lead to warfare. I am not a war-monger, but our stone and oil should link to the chain that lead to the war consumer; it could be by other countries or just simply us!
I don’t know if you think Keynesian economy works best here.
However, you guys should take a five minutes reading on ‘permanent war economy’.

Wonderful and always brain quenching stuff for the near Zombified citizen such as myself.
erepublik economy does seem to be geared to war, and on top of that many argue that without battles to fight, players will lose interest (not everyone enjoy talking c*ck on the media and forums like you and me).
great musings there mate.
"but our stone and oil should link to the chain that lead to the war consumer" - could you expand on this comment though please? I don't really understand. Are you saying we should gear up towards a Military–industrial complex?
Cant really avoid it in a game where half the products are military products.
erepublik is really a 1950s Eisenhowerian liberal capitalist wet dream. Not a surprise for a game designed by Eastern Europeans, probably all too eager to erase bad memories of communism.
Thats what made the Communist takeover of eRussia so funny.
@Fuzzy,
I gave the analogy of food chain previously.
Which meant; any disorder in the middle of the chain will make economy stagnant. Raw material-->food-->tikets-->hous e. Then what element that drives all those thing moving faster?
It's guns to burn houses, it injury that requires health care.
It's destruction that leads to rebirth(of economy).
Only then the circle is complete.
I wish in this eRepublic we can have entertaiment, sports or whatever to waste our money in the end. Thus there're some other factors to drive the economy besides the war option.
An environment module will also be nice.. then we can have our own BP oil leak crisis 😛
It would also make people think twice before setting up yet another wood company or going to war.
Amli's breath in general stuff begins to amaze me. 😃
@CDV
It's nothing much about me, just that many biologists you know are experts on using laboratory microscope: drawing big pictures from the microscopic view they focus on.
Where else, I'm the kind that run adventurously around the globe wrestling crocs and got chased by elephants. 😃
