[VOTE] Forced Migrations Deserve A Second Chance and Results of v2 Opinion Poll
KOSOVA Batoa
GIVE FORCED MIGRATIONS A SECOND CHANCE.
An all too common site these days...
eRepublic is facing a massive pandemic of eSuicide. As is apparent to all, the economy is in turmoil, bugs are rampant and many feel that the release was premature. Sure we all knew to expect a bumpy ride and I am all for positive action versus complaining, that's the purpose of this article. Mizu's News conducted a public opinion poll immediately after the release of v2 to get the first impression and compare it to one that will be gathered a week later. The results of the 800+ response's are below...
It's quite obvious which way the trend is leaning...
That however is not the primary topic of this article. Rather I wish to bring to attention the alarming number of active citizens that failed to migrate skills in time logged on to find they are now left in the dust. Many of them preferring to leave the game rather than go on from low skill levels, committing eSuicide instead.
The following data clearly demonstrates the need for those with forced migrations to be given a second chance!
Statistics were gathered by previous Director of Technology for the eUS gov dmgctrl from a group of randomly chosen citizens with forced migrations from USA, Poland, Croatia, Russia, Serbia, Hungary and Spain. If a player had equal economic skills across the board, it was determined that the player had not worked since v2. If the player had worked the skills would not be equal due to points gained.
Results are posted by country to make them more personal, remember these are real players, not just numbers.

Special thanks and recognition go's to dmgctrl for pushing me to write this, doing the real work of researching the raw numbers and being an all around top notch compadre that cares enough to do something about bringing people back.

YES! Voted, signed and shouted!
Voted! \o/
Vote NO. The players whose migration was forced had the same amount of time as those who got them set. Seems to me if they 'active' players they would have gotten it done. I set mine the first day it became available. Sorry...should have been paying attention.
Guess you aren't called 'cold hearted snake' for nothing....
yes we need second chance
Anyone wana buy some cheap artillery??? lol Jk well actually not really...but interesting article...makes me think...hard..pm me +)
This dmgctrl lad sure sounds useless 😛
Well, fewer players = less potential income for the game designers. Looks like they shot themselves in the foot.
I want a chance with this ad-woman tooooo!!
iam sure, administration of eRepublik will give people second chance, but little later...
why should they get a second chance?
its their mistake they didnt migrate, there was plenty of time
if they were too lazy to migrate they must pay, just like in RL.
ohhhh and yes, it took sooooooo long to migrate the skills.
Cold Hearted Snake is right
for!
good work, Julian..
and Thanks, dmgctrl, for the data Julian used to make this presentation.
I did vote No, for the same reasons as Snake. we all had plenty of time and advance warning, and taking what'cha get for not payin' attention is not the end of the world.
I see it in several ways:
- a matter of cost/benefit. What does it cost you? Nothing, unless your concerned about competition in the workplace, which I don't think you are.
- get the date wrong or happen to be away or less active than others? So what? Doesnt mean we have to punish them for it.
- indecision, I know that was the case with several ppl I know. Without the right info beforehand, it was a tough call. I know I regret the choices I made. But I didnt have the info(formulas) needed to make the right decision.
Regardless, I respect your opposing views, I just dont see the harm in giving ppl a second chance. Thanks for your comments o/
This game is supposed to reflect real life...so when in real life do you get a mulligan, a do over...sorry...ya snooze ya lose...
Amusing thing when I first saw the ad I was listening to Second Chance by Shinedown.

Im for a second chance
USA, Poland, Croatia, Russia, Serbia, Spain. Where's Hungary?...
Wow, I'm shocked by those numbers...
No, not really. I'm just glad that I haven't spent one single cent of real money on this game 😃
A definitive NO for a second chance. (I'll keep playing anyways, until they alienate ALL of the players and the game tanks)
Vote.
I am for the second chance but it wont happen probably. I don't want to discuss why someone didn't migrate their own skills. There could have been plenty of reasons...but let's not forget that some people played this game every day for almost whole year (like me) or even longer. I know a peson who didn't migrate and she played this game every day like me.
Biggest mistake is that admins (for those players who didn't migrate) didn't set achieved points to focus only on one profession-skill. It could be done also randomly, but on ONE profession-skill NOT spreaded on each like it is now.
Just a game...enjoy rl life which is full of new experiences waiting for us to grasp...

bringing back v1 iz what we all need.
give us a lady! 😉
In this position myself.
Considering whats next, for a number of reasons.
Hilarious to see the understanding nature of other players, LOL.
Feel no need to explain myself further.
🙂
Grainne, you are one of the reasons I compiled this data, your name came up in IRC. For all those who vote NO to this idea, get some friends.
And miss them when they're gone.
P.S. - Julian Mizu rocks.
I vote yes. Sure, there was plenty of time, but many people had been told to wait by those senior to them until orders were given. Also, I personally tried three times to migrate my skills and the button did not work. I am now stuck with the skills divided up. I know of a few others that have had this same problem.
I vote yes, because the game has changed dramatically from the beta server edition.
Nice job, scary numbers

'I vote yes. Sure, there was plenty of time, but many people had been told to wait by those senior to them until orders were given.'
...and that is why you don't take orders. Sorry, but those people who were waiting on orders could have disobeyed orders on the last day and set them. They could have set them and then if they were given orders they could have gone back and changed them. The ones who played 'everyday' had a chance 'everyday' to migrate their skills. Sorry, but I am still against this second chance.
I think admins should have added "If you don't migrate skills on time you are screw.d".
Maybe then more people would migrate.
Big fail by admins....
I attempted to migrate my skills 2-3xs and all times I would see the gret outline of the slider bar, but no means by which to actually adjust skills. Sent a ticket to support and nothing. I'm only here because I have spent real $$ on the game.
@szbszig
Quite right, a horrendous oversight on my behalf. Here is the Hungarian data:
Over level 20 has a 21% quit rate
82% quit rate for the 15 - 20 bracket
23% of the under 15 level have not returned.
No, they don't deserve second chance. They got theirs allright, and I don't know what more admins could have done, the 'migrate' button was obvious. Maybe they should have distributed the economical skills in a better way, like 1 random skill - 75%, another - 25%. As for the military skills, IMO 1 skill 100% for higher strength players was not the way to go anyway.
Keep in mind that some of those players would be lost because they didn't like the changes and some of them just quit due to natural attrition that happens all the time. By pressing for 'second chance' you are asking to punish the players who did their part right.
No second chance Hell I migrated my skills, but in this economic model they suck, heck yes I want a 2nd chance also. Not
