A Constitutional revision
Candor
IV. Military Principles:
1. The President of The United States, being duly elected by the citizens of our great nation, is the Commander in Chief of all United States Military personel funded by the United States taxpayer, and must confirm the appointment of, and at any time may require the relief and removal of, the Chairman of The Joint Chiefs of Staff (CJCS).
2. The eUSA armed forces shall organize and operate themselves as they see fit, in all other areas.
3. The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) are responsible for matters of military strategy, and should consult the country president.

And let the shit land where it may.
Grab your raincoats and umbrellas?
JCS and CJCS should serve at convenience of the Elected President. Anything else would be a farce, imo.
Americans lets just make sure we fight our enemies and don't let this BS in High Places distract you.
Candor for congress
Er, no. This doesn't take into account a PTO or an incompetent president. The JCS should decide who their representatives are based on military/strategic planning experience, knowledge of game mechanics, their grasp of the military and political situations around the world, and their ability to inspire and lead their subordinates. The JCS don't come and go every month. They all know each other: their strength, weakness, demeanor, etc, based on many months of working together.
We can't always rely on the President to make the best call here. This kind of idealism stems from RL bias and does not take into account the realities of this game.
Maruishima: The elected Congress can remove a President.
This is democracy, what, I believe, most of soldiers in the United States Military believe they are fighting for, in RL or in game.
You can take the game away from the American, but you'll find it much more difficult to take the American out of the game.
We believe in Constitutional Democracy around here.
@Maruishima I'm just glad that JCs is infallible because otherwise they might need a check on their power too.
Intresting. What is the current procedure for choosing a CJCS?
Charmader95: JCS picks the CJCS now. And they still would. The POTUS would just confirm the choice, and be able to relieve as needed.
Checks and balances.
@Candor: Get rid of "confirm the choice", and I think that would be a workable compromise. Otherwise, there's no point in allowing the JCS to choose the CJCS.
@Michael: No doubt they might need a check. An issue to be worked out, as I said.
The President and the JCS are fallible. I'd rather a *group* of people with a better knowledge of the best candidates choose the CJCS than a career politician who may or may not know who the best strategist and military leader is.
I also find it funny that you routinely chide people for not taking these issues seriously, yet you resort to sarcasm. Bravo.
A Maruishima: The "confirmation" to me is the lessor important of the two revisions, certainly. Recognizing the ultimate authority of POTUS through his ability to remove the CJCS is certainly the much greater point and power in this revisoon, x10.
If the "confirmation" removal sealed the deal, I'd support taking it out.
Our real life expectations are leading us to a conclusion that may not hold in eRepublik. This proposal is definitely needed in RL. But it might do more harm than good in erep.
Yeah, this is what people are missing:
"Intresting. What is the current procedure for choosing a CJCS? "
I plan to write an article on this in my 2-clicker paper. It is *MUCH* harder to get into JCS than into Congress or the Presidency. But there is not enough transparency and most people don't know much about the JCS.
Reliability Rating to our past POTUS: zilch
Reliability Rating to our past CJCS: much higher than zilch
Conclusion: Hell No.
